“You Can Come Out Now, Agnes”

Chapter Text

Enid sighed as she closed the door behind herself. Of course, as soon as they made their first step back into the Building, they ran straight into Capri’s arms.

Enid’s ears were still ringing from Capri’s lecture, after the latter made Agnes and her standing side by side in the corridor like two little kids in detention. Capri went on and on about responsibility, safety and how it was suicidally stupid to be wandering around the woods at night when a Hyde had been sighted nearby. And especially at full moon! She repeated that alone like a hundred times.

An hour, maybe more, before Capri finally let them go with a glare sharp enough to slice glass.

Enid rolled her eyes afterwards to Agnes, who softly giggled, before yawning big time.

"You’re right…” Enid responded, as she yawned as well. “It really got late.” She turned to Agnes. “See you tomorrow?”

“Who knows.” Agnes giggled, as she disappeared.

“You know, you can show yourself around me anytime.” Enid said and although Agnes didn't answer, she heard her heartbeat skip a beat, before the beating disappeared down the corridor.

Enid smiled, before turning around, walking back to her dorm. Her head was so full of everything that had happened and she would pour it all out to Wednesday.

But as she opened the door quietly, to her surprise, Wednesday wasn’t sitting on her typewriter. Instead she found her roommate curled beneath the blankets, sleeping and… did she just snore a little?

“Seems like even a Wednesday Addams needs some rest sometimes.” Enid giggled softly, as she slipped out of her shoes, before crawling into her own bed, exhaustion pulling her right into a deep sleep.

But the night was short. As soon after the sun set again, Enid woke to frantic tapping against her cheek.

It was Thing, bouncing wildly on her comforter, signing as fast as his fingers could move.

Panic. Urgency. Help.

Enid sat bolt upright. “Whoa, whoa, slow down! What is it?”

But Thing had already jumped down, running over to the other side of the room, which made Enid turn toward Wednesday’s bed as well.

“Wed…?” She asked, voice shaking, as she realized her friend hadn’t moved an inch all night. Then she saw it… The pale skin, damp with cold sweat, her breathing shallow, uneven.

Enid’s stomach dropped.

“Oh my god… Wednesday!” She said as she jumped out of bed, rushing to her side. No snarky comment, no annoyed glare, just silence and feverish heat. And some black fur, peaking out between the fingers of her fist.

Without thinking, Enid bolted for the door, her voice carrying down the hall. “Help! Somebody get the nurse!”

So she ran, hoping her friend would make it.

Whatever happened to Wednesday, she would find it out and…
