Chapter Text
Anne hummed contently, her radio playing music as she whipped up supper. David, her husband, was outside tending to th farm. Her oldest, David Jr., played in the living room. 2 ½ was too young for the farm. Her 7 month old, John, was with his grandma, Anne's mother. "I don't get to see them much!" she complained. Anne had no issues with it.
She pulled biscuits from the oven, setting them on the counter top. She hadn't thought of her Sisters often. She was still in touch with a few, but after the 1979 group she wanted to distance herself. Irene had made her distaste in Anne's decisions known. Refused an abortion, didn't go to art school, and worst of all?
She got married at 16.
Anne had cut off all contact with Irene. None of it had been okay- absolutely none. Sure, Pete deserved what he got. But everything else? None of it felt right. She often cried in Dave's arms about it. How guilty she felt about it.
The front door opened, the sound of boots dropping caught her attention, that and Dave jr shrieking with joy.
"Welcome home, Dave!" Anne called out, turning off the stove when she figured the soup beans were done. Dave stepped in, pulling his wife in for a quick kiss and hug.
"Evenin', darlin'" Dave hummed, stealing a biscuit for himself when Anne wasn't looking. Anne shook her head in faux disapproval, grabbing Dave Jr to put in his special chair.
"You sit, i'll fix our plates" Anne cooed, patting Dave's shoulder before grabbing three plates. Two big ones, one little one. Anne fixed each plate, sitting all three on the table. And her family joined hands and prayed, Anne could only think of one thing...
This was perfect.
