"That's 10.98, would you like to become a rewards member," he drawled, "You can get free perks."

Scar fumbled through his wallet for the money, pulling out a ten and one dollar bill. "I'm good," he replied, handing the money in exchange for the bag which was shoved into his hands semi-aggressively, "Have a nice day!" He sat, darting out of the doors.

"Your….receipt?"

Notes:

Ahh! This is short, so sorry, but I just need like an interest check? See if people like this.

Chapter 1: \\ You, me, gas station! What're we getting? Sushi, of course!

Chapter Text

Hopping down- with what he liked to call whimsy- from the steps of the library, and attempting not to fall on the way, Scar clutched the big, clunky textbooks tighter in his arms. The plan for the rest of today was extremely simple, it was the same as everyday- Get something cheap to eat from the convenience store, study for his upcoming test, and then sleep forever and ever. Beautiful, and bound to go to plan- No room for mistakes. He walked over to his car- a gray used 2012 Kia Soul that looked like it was falling apart at the seams, but really, who could blame him? it worked fine and was cheaper than most options- and shoved his books into his backseat. Locking the car back up after exiting, he started walking down the street towards the gas station.

Upon entering the store, bright fluorescent hit him at every angles while reflecting through the tiles. The stench of cleaning supplies was horridly clear in the air. He bee-lined towards the food, grabbing his regular container of sushi. He also grabbed a bottle of some random energy drink he always had gravitated towards, he'd definitely need the caffeine, and headed towards the check out. At the register was a macaw hybrid who looked to be around his age. God, his wings were pretty. He looked liked he did not want to be there, but still speedily grabbed his items and checked them out.

Grian supposed this had just become a routine. The other man would come in, and Grian would hand him his products- already set at the counter for him. The man looked extremely delighted the day that the avian had waved him over to the counter immediately with the food ready. Not to say that he stopped being happy after the fact; he looked weirdly joyous every time he walked into the convenience store. It was odd.

Today, it seemed, was no different. Seemed.

The man bound up to the register, Grian handing him his bag in silent exchange and watched as the man grabbed his wallet. You'd think he'd simply have it ready by now before he walked in, honestly. While the vex was grabbing the bill, the man turned his head up.

"Ah, by the way," he said, finally finding the bill, "I was wondering, what's your name?"

Grian paused. This was not what he expected, at all. "Why?"

"Well, you don't have your name tag on," he answered, handing the other the money and sliding his wallet into his pocket before leaning against the table between them. "And I wanted to know! You've been so nice to me ever since I first came in here; I'm curious!"

The macaw squinted. Nice isn't exactly what he'd call it; he had basically stared the man down the first time they had met like he already had a deep rooted hatred for him. { He did, at the time, he had just gotten off of a horrible meeting, } "Uh. Grian. You can just call me Grian."

"Cool! I'm Scar," he said, something unplaceable before immediately turning on his heels and darting out of the door. The bell jingled and the door slammed shut behind him.

Grian sighed, leaning back against his chair and picking up the piece of paper on the desk, he called out, "YOU FORGOT YOUR RECEIPT, AGAIN," to no avail. Resting his head on the desk, he scoffed at the man's kind of endearing absurdity.

Sliding into his car door, Scar let the bag fall into the seat next to him. Bringing up his palms to his face, he groaned heavily. What was that?! The poor man, Grian, Scar thought to himself, looked horrified at his question. The vex was a mess, really, who asks a random cashier you barely know their name? Who does that?!

Grappling with the horridity of his past actions, Scar reached for the newly purchased energy drink- The one that Grian had been setting out for him, and he repaid him by making him uncomfortable- and popping open its tab with a click. He tilted it back against his mouth, its carbonation stinging his tongue and flavour strong. Sliding the can into his cup holder, he leaned back against the car seat, dragging a hand to his hair. To hell with him, honestly!

He slid the key in and started the car engine, driving back to his apartment.

꧁⎝ 𓆩༺✧༻𓆪 ⎠꧂

Just finish this, and then you can sleep, Scar thought as pain spiked in his back, leaning over his computer, typing on his janky keyboard. He had just finished his sushi and chugged his energy drink. Two hundred more words- or was it one thousand more than that? He didn't know anymore. After that, it was a short quiz and then to studying.

Typing up the last of the words, he scrolled to the top of the document to proofread. Reigning in the terror of reading back over his caffeine induced ramblings, and also fixing them, he couldn't think of a better way to spend his night. This was horrible beautiful!

A whole lot of fucked up homophones and typos in general later plus suffering over remembering things, Scar had finally finished his word; it was freedom at least! Standing up and tugging his shirt off, he unceremoniously flopped onto the bed and curled up under the covers. Sleep, at last.

꧁⎝ 𓆩༺✧༻𓆪 ⎠꧂

After finally showering and lying down in bed, Grian curled up under the covers and squeezed his eyes shut. He had to admit- it was sort of sweet the other man wanted to know his name. What he couldn't shake about that interaction, however, was the flash of some expression he couldn't quite place.

Sighing and grabbing his phone from the nightstand, he checked the time. Seven o'clock. He still, if they both were fast, could get in a few rehearsals with Jimmy. Typing in the password and opening texts, he pulled up Jimmy's contact.
