Chapter 2: Golden Ring

Summary:

No words
Just giggles

Chapter Text

His birthday. He was now nineteen, meaning he was now going to learn about royal responsibilities for the castle. Next thing he knows, Pix would be the King of the Capital.

He got ready, white undershirt, brown vest, black pants and a gray cloak. He exited the room, knight out there waiting for him. He walked to the dining hall, seeing his dad comforting his mother, who was sobbing in her seat.

“Mother? Father? What’s wrong?” Pix asked softly, with a tone that made him sound like he lost his emotions. He walked over, eyebrow raised as he went to stand at his father’s side.

“Your brother… he’s gone… He wasn’t in his room when Amara woke him up this morning. We’ve searched the whole castle…” She took a moment before going back to her sob session.

Pix was frozen…

Ren? Gone? No…

“Ren is dead? O-or missing?” Pix stepped back, looking for the door. He couldn’t be gone. He promised he would stay with his brother.

Pix rushed out of the room, sprinting up the stairs to his brother’s room. He broke open the door, seeing a perfectly made bed with something on top of the sheets.

‘Dear Pixy.

Im sorry to say this but I must go. I love you so much and I will be back as soon as I can. Make some flower crowns for me.

Your Brother, Renny.’

Ren gasped as he shot up from his bed, face pale. Shit. He blinked and looked around the room. Seeing people in and out. He slid out of the bed and looked for something- anything…

He left in some loose fitted clothing, looking around for Scott. He had to make sure Scott was okay or something bad would happen. He couldn’t leave Scott like he left pix. Maybe the dining hall.

After a few moments he noticed Scott in a greenhouse, working on something that was hard for Ren to see from his angle. He looked before seeing Scott’s head go up, smiling at ren. He waved the runaway over, a positive vibe from him.

Ren entered the greenhouse reluctantly, gaze falling to the ground. He felt a hand take his, leading him to the bench.

“You don’t need to be scared. I promise I won’t leave or hurt you.”

Those words…

Ren stopped, fists clenching as the words repeated in his head.

“I-..” Something about Scott just made ren break. He fell to the ground, not making it to the bench properly. He curled into a ball, hiding himself from getting a view of Scott.

“Ren? Did I do something wrong? A- do you need me to get you a drink? Tea? Water? Cocoa?” Scott lifted Ren’s chin, wiping his tears.

“I- it’s trust issues… it’s dumb.”

“No… it’s not dumb. I said something that you didn’t like and you clearly need something.”

Ren kept his eyes from meeting Scott, even if his face was close to Scott’s.

“I’ll ask Amara to get you a cocoa.” Scott stood and walked to the door, talking to a younger lady at the other side of the door. He returned and sat with ren, putting his hand out for the runaway. “Can I show you something?” He asked softly, gently squeezing the brunettes hand.

“Hm?” Ren blinked and nodded reluctantly, squeezing Scott’s hand in return.

Scott used his free hand, pulling out a small gold ring, nothing too crazy, like it was for a proposal. It was more like a ring for fidgeting.

Ren looked at it, a faint smile appearing before he put it on and leaned into Scott, hugging the Prince.

“… Thank you.”
