Chapter Text

The trio of girls were walking silently. It was an awkward silence, with nothing to say. June’s mind was occupied with dread, fear, and regret. She didn’t mean to put on a ‘poor me’ attitude, but she couldn’t really help it. After everything she went through, she had to be put here? She tried to dismiss those feelings, because she knew that all the students around her have been through stuff as well, and also a previous killing game.

“So, how is life in America?” Tsuno said, trying to fill the uncomfortable silence. She appreciated her trying her best to make this experience less horrid, but only so much can be helped. She still appreciated the superhero’s help.

“W-Well, umm, it’s alright. Nice weather, I guess.” June said, softly. She wishes to speak up, but her guard has been up ever since she arrived. It was a given that it couldn’t be up forever, but for right now it was impossible to be put down.

“Nice, uhh, that’s good.” Tsuno said, her voice quieting down near the end. Did June accidentally weird her out? She assumed that she was making things awkward.
“Okay. It’s safe to assume that her dorm would be near the others, so that’s why we are here.” Sasaki seemed to try and start a new topic because the air was getting to get thick. “Actually, it seems like there is a door on the back wall of the hallway, so let’s go check that out.”

They made their way to the new door on the back wall, and sure enough, the name plate said in bold letters, ‘June Saito.’

“Well, let’s go in!” Tsuno said! ”Do you have your key?”

June checked her pockets, to find a small, silver key in the back pocket on her jean shorts. “Is this it?” She asked, holding the key up so the 2 other girls could see it clearly. Tsuno responded with a nod, and Sasaki responded with a gesture towards the door. June sighed and put the key in the keyhole.

Click was the sound of the door unlocking. She then gripped the doorhandle, and slowly opened it, as if she was preparing for something dangerous to be behind it. Luckily, nothing bad was behind the door. The girls slowly walked in, checking out the dorm. There was a sort of lengthy walkway before you got to the main room, but once you got to the main room, there was a giant wardrobe on the adjacent wall to the right. Also on that wall, right next to the wardrobe, was the door to the bathroom. It wasn’t anything much. Only a small standup shower, sink, and a toilet. On the bathroom door’s adjacent wall, there was a nightstand, and a queen sized bed, with two pillows and white bedding. And across from the bed was the desk and chair. The desk was flooded with the stationary, notebooks, and CD player that she owned at home.

“Why does my desk have all of this? All of this stuff is on my desk at home…” June questioned, nervously. How did they get all of this stuff right? Everything is exactly like it was at home, down every pen, notebooks from my 14 year old self, and even the model of the CD player. They don’t even make this model anymore! June had a distinguishable look of shock on her face. The girls, standing on either side of her, took notice of this.

“Hey June, what’s the matter?” Tsuno asked softly, standing on the left side. “Is it about the stuff on your desk?”

June thought about responding for a second, but eventually replied. “Yeah, this desk is replicating my desk at home so good that it’s a bit creepy. Everything’s the exact same, down to each single pen. Also, for some reason they have my old journals.”
“Hm. That’s really strange. Cute stuff though at least!”

It was really strange, but June enjoyed the compliment though. “Thanks…”

On the right side of June, Sasaki was thinking out loud. “Is she an author? No, the CD player doesn’t correlate with that. Unless…” Sasaki continued on about the contents of her desk. She seemed to be trying to figure out her hobbies or talents from the contents of her desk. She did like to journal, but in no way was she on the level of an author. In fact, she didn’t have many hobbies or talents. She liked to journal, sing, play guitar, and that’s it. It was sad, but she hasn’t had the opportunity to learn something new in a while, so it kind of made sense.

“Hey. Umm, is it alright with you two if I have some time alone? I just need to think for a bit about everything that is going on. Sorry…” June said. With everything going on, she wished to be alone so she could collect her thoughts.

“Oh! Uhm, sure!” Tsuno awkwardly said as she looked at Sasaki, who gave her a shrug in reply.

“Come see us if you need anything, okay?” Sasaki declared as she turned around to leave with Tsuno. June gave a small nod in return, but it went unseen by the girls.

With a shut of the door, June collapsed into her bed, wrinkling up the sheets that were probably freshly ironed. She didn’t even bother to change clothes, get under the covers, or even turn off the light before her eyes started to shut down. Today was a mess, and she just hoped it was some strange dream. No, nightmare would be a more fitting word. She thought, a hidden smile crept up to her face.

As she drifted off into slumber, she just thought about the random stuff that was going on around her. Who are these people? What did I do to be here? Why are they so wary of me? If I got a CD player, does that mean I have CD’s? While the first 3 couldn’t be answered right now, the last question she thought of piqued her interest. She decided to go looking for them tomorrow, but she definitely needed to get some sleep first, because she felt a pounding headache coming back, and sleep always helped her headaches. As consciousness slipped from her, the girl felt her tear ducts welling up, but to no avail,  only a singular tear came out.

June missed a lot of things already. She missed her stuffies, she missed her mountain of throw blankets her mom got from Walmart, she missed the posters of her idols on the wall. She missed her parents, she missed her grandparents, who she only met once.

…

In short, she missed everything. and longed to go home.

But when will that even happen?

…

The morning came quickly, or so it seemed. June awoke to a morning announcement, saying it is 7 AM. With a grumble, she turned around and went back to sleep. She was still exhausted, so she assumed that she didn’t sleep for that long. I guess this wasn’t a nightmare. With a sigh, she turned back around and fell back to sleep rather quickly.

…

“Knock, Knock! June, you should really get up! It’s been a hot minute since the morning announcement!” A muffled voice woke up June with a jolt. The sound of knocks, all of different rhythms, overpowered the sound of the air conditioner and the voice. If she remembered it correctly, it was Tsuno’s voice, but she wasn’t completely sure, since she wasn’t the best at remembering people. Especially by their voice only.

“Huh, I-I’ll be there in a minute!” June softly replied. She didn’t hear a reply back, but the sound of knocking stopped, so it was safe to say the person heard them. All of June’s body ached, which stopped her from getting out of bed. Most days, she experienced soreness across her whole body, leaving it hard to walk. She knew that she needed to get up and out of bed, but she was falling back asleep, due to her constant tiredness that she experienced. She tried to move her legs, but before she even knew it, she was back asleep soundly.

…

“Girl, get the hell up! How can you sleep so much!”

“Okay, does somebody know how to pick a lock?”

“Is she fucking dead?”

“Dang, girl can really sleep!”

June woke up, again, due to the constant pounding on the door, plus the presumed crowd of yelling outside her door. With her body aching, it hurt like hell to move, but she did it anyway. With a deep breath, she got out of bed slowly and made her way to the door, grabbing the key on her desk along the way. The door went Click as she unlocked it. Slowly, the noises stopped as she opened the door.

“Uh, hello?” June said, soft spoken, to the crowd in front of her door. It seemed like more than half of the class was out there, worried about her.

“June, where have you been! We thought you DIED. It has been probably 7 hours since the morning announcement, and about 5 since Tsuno went to go get you!” Sasaki reprimanded her, with a hint of anger in her voice. Huh, so I was right. It was Tsuno. She thought. “Are you even listening?”

“Eh, I am. I’m going to go get ready now.” June said as the crowd looked at her with worry, or with stink eyes. As she turned away to close her door, Hiroaki yelled after her.

“Leave the door unlocked so we can go get you if you fall asleep again!” June nodded to that statement, and shut the door. It wasn’t her fault that she fell back asleep easily. Also, she should have a pass because she is in a killing game! June groaned as she went to her restroom to shower.

As the warm water hit her skin, she thought about where to look for the CD’s.. That was what she wanted to do to keep herself occupied, and it was a good way to look around the area, and even maybe introduce herself to people. Maybe there’s a storage room? Or an AV room? That would be nice. I could also try to look for a music room.

June turned the water off, and stepped out of the shower. After drying off, she wrapped the towel around her waist, and began blow drying her hair with the hair dryer she conveniently found under the sink. Once that was done, she went to put on some body lotion. After the lotion on her skin was dry, she then went to change into her clothes. The wardrobe doors were thrown open, and she found a ton of copies of the same outfit. With a shrug, she just threw the clothes on, but zipped the jacket all the way so she wouldn’t be that cold while searching.

After all that was done, she remembered about her medicine that she took every morning, afternoon, and night. As she wondered where that could be, a memory of Monomoko popped up in her head.

“If you have any questions going forward, just call me. My name is Monomoko.”

With a deep breath, she called, “Monomoko?”

“Yes?” Monomoko popped up suddenly, scaring June out of her bones.

“Uh, uh.. Do you possibly know where my medicine is? I have to take it 3 times a day.” June told the strange rabbit, with fur of black.

“Yes. you will find your personal medicine in the medbay, and any other medicine you may need. You may take your personal medicine in your room, but please leave all shared medicine in the medbay. Is that all?”

“Yeah. Thank you.” June replied, The rabbit disappeared shortly after. Huh, the medbay? I can find that while I’m looking around this place. I need to eat with it anyway.

She started to walk to the door, to go out and look for the medbay, and any CD’s that might be laying around somewhere.

It’s going to be a long, long day.
