First one- sleep cycles.
Spiders are usually nocturnal, and have sleep cycles instead of sleeping in one go like us. I thought maybe that might have affected his brain stem, causing him to sleep better in cycles.
They still have REM sleep, so I don’t like it would be too different.
Second one- memorising routines.
When spiders are in your house, they memorise your routine (mainly for safety), so running into them, means you’re not following your routine. I did get this idea from someone else, but thought it would be good to add, because I like to think Peter would do that.
Third one- clutter.
Spiders prefer cluttered houses to empty ones. If your house/room is cluttered, you’re more likely to find a spider. That’s because they feel safer, less open. I think Peter would do that, because with everything else I added, why not.
Fourth one- strong smells.
Spiders can’t smell, it’s more tasting it (they got special leg hairs, kinda like butterflies with their antennas), but strong smells can cause them to avoid the place where said smell is. (Good tip if you want spiders to avoid you, they don’t like peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender, ect.) I thought that thats a very Peter thing, you know?
fifth one- eyesight.
Spiders usually can’t see things from far away. That’s why they use webs. I know Peter doesn’t use webs to catch prey per se, but he uses webs nonetheless. You also see the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man wear (his dad’s) glasses — however I don’t think he needs them in that, but I still thought it would be fun to add.
Sixth one- copper blood.
Humans have Iron-based blood (hemoglobin) while spiders have copper-based blood (hemocyanin) which cases the colour do be different. I’m not sure the exact specifics, I don’t do chemistry, but I really liked the idea of that. I don’t think it would realistically work though.
Seventh one- fear of birds and reptiles.
Spiders main predators are birds and reptiles. Makes sense that they’d be scared of them, so I added that. Mainly for fun.
