“So, about this new intern of yours,” Johnnie says as she smooths her skirt out. When Reed peers at her curiously, she waggles her eyebrows. “Is he cute?”
Reed laughs good-naturedly. “Sorry, Johnnie. She’s, well — a girl, but perhaps you’ll get along anyway.” He perks up when someone rounds the corner. “Oh, there she is now.”
The girl that emerges is the most disheveled person Johnnie has ever seen. Her lab coat is at least two sizes too big. Her glasses are askew, smudged, and do little to hide the deep bags under her eyes besides. Her dark hair is short and choppy, like she cut it herself. In the dark. With a pair of craft scissors.
And yet somehow she’s still kind of cute. Fuck.
Johnnie’s not sure how to feel about the fact that she finds Reed’s new intern cute, considering they’re both girls. Luckily she still has Spider-Man to moon over.

“Um,” Zoro says, with the brilliance of a burnt-out lightbulb.
“Your arms look nice. Are you good with your hands?” Candy asks, tilting her head. There’s something else hidden in that question, something at the edge of it that Zoro can’t quite grasp.
