A week later, Booker had just come home from football practice when Nile handed him an envelope before sitting down to eat breakfast.
"Okay, thanks," Booker said. "What is inside the envelope?"
"Beats me. All Joe told me was to give it to you," Nile replied as she started eating the usual four bowls of Coco Pops. "Saying it was the favour you owed him."
Booker opened the envelope.
"What the hell?" Booker asked as he read the paper. "He has got to be kidding me."
Nile looked at Booker for some clarification.
"Joe has sent me a bill of $780 for two nights at a hotel, and $43 of those dollars are for grapes," Booker said. "Who on Earth eats grapes for that kind of money?"
"Well, think about it like this," Nile replied. "Do you rather want to tell Andy about the cake you gave away or pay the bill for Joe's romantic weekend in a hotel?"
Booker looked at Nile before finding his phone.
"Just so you know it," Booker asked as he transferred the money to Joe. "This is close to being blackmailed?"
"That might be," Nile replied. "But you're still alive."
"Guess you got a point," Booker replied as he found his Frosties. "So, what are your plans tonight?
