Chapter Text
Izuku awoke to sun shining through his curtains directly into his eyes, a pounding in his skull. Slowly, he sat up, trying not to dizzy himself as he grabbed a bottle of water on his bedside. Izuku chugged the water as he stood up to get some pain meds. He popped them out of the packet and dry swallowed two pills, forgetting to drink them down. The night’s events came flooding back before it got to the kiss. Izuku scrambled for his phone, clumsily picking it up before shooting Ochaco a text.
He paced the room, continuously recalling the events. Ochaco burst into his room out of breath and slammed the door shut.
“You kissed him?!” Ochaco yelled as she glared at him.
“Be quiet!” Izuku scrambled to quieten her down.
“Izuku Midoriya, you kissed the guy that bullied you the whole of middle school?” Ochaco interrupted, clearly seething.
“I was drunk! You and Mina were the ones that made him go with me!” Izuku pointed out as he tried to defend himself from her verbal attack.
“Did you come onto him?” Ochaco questioned.
“Yeah...” Izuku mumbled under his breath.
“Izuku!” Ochaco groaned.
“It was a mistake!” Izuku exasperated as he buried his head in his hands.
“Obviously.” Ochaco muttered as she pulled her phone out to text someone.
“Who you texting?” Izuku asked to have some normalcy to the conversation.
“Mina. She’ll know what to say because I’m mad at you.” Ochaco sent the text then sat down on his bed.
“I’m sorry!” Izuku apologised.
Mina walked into his room and let the door shut behind her.
“So, you and Bakubae, in your dorm, both drunk, ended up making out. Yet you've hated each other for years?” Mina confirmed with Izuku. She had heard this story from Katsuki but wanted to hear Izuku’s version.
“Yeah!” Izuku nodded as he fell onto his desk chair.
“Walk us through everything from when we handed you over to Katsuki, till he left.” Mina left no room for argument.
“Okay!” Izuku sighed. “So, we were walking to my room, and I complimented him or something and he told me to shut up then the walk was pretty much silent.”
“And then?” Ochaco gestured for him to go on.
“So, we get back to my room, and I asked him why he didn’t want to kiss me during the game and he told me because we aren’t friends and aren’t close. I then called him a bastard, and it happened.” Izuku rambled.
“So, who leaned in?” Mina asked as she was clearly enjoying the situation.
“I mean I grabbed his shirt, but he also leaned in.” Izuku admitted.
“Katsuki Bakugo, rough, angry blonde who hates everyone, leaned in?!” Mina gawked ash she processed the information.
“I’m mad at you but I have to ask as your best friend. Did you like it?” Ochaco asked.
“What? No, it was a drunk mistake, obviously.” Izuku replied with a roll of his eyes.
“Doesn’t mean you couldn’t like it.” Mina shrugged as Ochaco agreed with her point.
“Well, I didn’t.” Izuku muttered defensively.
“We aren't the closest, so tell me if I'm crossing like... a boundary, but are you like... gay?” Mina questioned.
“Hell no, me? Gay? Definitely not. Never.” Izuku denied.
Ochaco and Mina shared a look as he spouted about not being gay.
“Can I ask why?” Mina quiered.
“Because it’s wrong.” Izuku let the words slip before thinking.
“Oh, so being with someone of the same gender is wrong?” Ochaco stood up, insulted by what he said.
“No, like it’s not wrong for other people, like yay, proud ally, kiss whoever you want!” Izuku scrambled to fix what he stupidly said.
“So why is it wrong for you?” Ochaco retorted.
“Because I’m meant to finish college, go to university and get a good job then get married to a girl and settle down and have kids. Not get with a guy.” Izuku faltered.
“Whose plan is that?” Mina piped up.
“What?” Izuku paused.
“Is that your plan for your life or have you been told that?” Ochaco added on to Mina’s words.
“Well, I mean it’s mine and my mom’s...” Izuku mumbled as he spun in his desk chair.
“Why-” Izuku cut Mina off before she could ask another question.
“Can we drop it?” Izuku was finally done with the questions.
“Fine.” Ochaco hesitantly agreed.
After a few minutes of chatting, Mina left to go hang out with her friends, leaving Izuku and Ochaco alone. They started packing Izuku’s stuff into his suitcase, a silence washing over the room. Eventually, they finished packing and Izuku hugged Ochaco goodbye after booking an uber. Izuku knocked on Shoto’s dorm with their dorm room being across from his. Shoto opened the door.
“I just wanted to say bye.” Izuku told Shoto.
“Leaving already?” Shoto asked as he didn’t realise the time.
“Train leaves in an hour and it's a 25-minute drive to the station. Iida here?” Izuku looked behind Shoto to see Iida walking towards them.
“Ah, Midoriya, you’re leaving?” Iida assumed.
“Yeah. Came to say bye.” Izuku nodded.
They had a quick conversation and said goodbye’s before Izuku left the building to his uber. He loaded his suitcase into the back and sat down. He told the guy where he wanted to go after being asked, then put his wired headphones on and put music on. “Cigarette Ahegao” by Penelope Scott started playing as he looked out to the passing cars. Rain started to fall, the raindrops racing across the window, eventually merging together. The uber pulled up to the station and Izuku grabbed his suitcase as he stepped out of the car. He gave a quick “thanks” to the driver before heading into the station. The green haired boy done the usual routine: scan the ticket, go to the platform, get on the train, find your seat, put luggage in the overhead bins and sit down. His seat was next to a guy with his hood up and headphones on, clearly not wanting to be disturbed. Izuku took a seat as he pulled his phone out to switch the playlist. He put “The Black Parade” album on by My chemical romance. After 15 minutes, the train conductor walked by, asking to see the two people’s tickets. Izuku handed the man his ticket since he had a physical copy. Izuku caught a glimpse of the guy beside him as he had reached to show the conductor their phone.
“Kacchan?” Izuku looked at the blonde properly. Katsuki groaned as he dragged his hand down his face.
“Of fucking course you're on this train.” Katsuki rolled his eyes as he paused his music.
“Why you not getting a plane back?” Izuku questioned.
“None of your damn business!” Katsuki snapped, then played his music again. Izuku just looked away and pressed play on his own music, the familiar sound of “I Don't Love You” by My Chemical Romance playing.
