Touch the sun (I hope it'll be fun)

Summary:

I had an English assignment where I had to write about a life experience of mine, and when I was younger I had a phase of just running till I couldn't. So I wrote about that.

This is my first writing that I'm putting on here, so I didn't really know what to put for the tags and all that jazz. Please tell me anything that I need to add/if you guys like my writing style. Thank you for reading this :)

Notes:

Im thinking of using this to be the base of an actual story, not like a poem but yk.

Tell me if that seems like smt yall would be interested in!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: The start of an end.

Chapter Text

Running and barely pacing into the ever changing orange, reds, yellows, and lowering sun

Moving on their own, left, right, left, right, my legs pushed the rest of me forward

I'd hardly just begun.

I was going till I would touch the sinking sun, on my own accord

And with the pushing and pulling of my legs, I could with great fun,

I could win my own self-given award.

Sprint till I could only jog, jog till I could only walk, walk till I could only crawl, I wasn't done.

I wanted to be the first Lord, to touch the close of day, with nothing but a run.

Followed by shadows that curl around the trees, hills, and rocks; It followed me like a dove.

Heavily breathing, fluttering lungs, and numb legs create a system as one.

It was exactly what I had dreamt of,

But I wanted to stop, my legs were becoming overdone.

I was so close to having it done, but the sun beat me to the punch.

Closing and disappearing behind the land, it was gone.

I was left in the dark and stars, my knees buckle without a lunge.

Bloodied and weak, I arose and made my way back home after my homerun.
