Chapter Text

(Immediately after the last chapter)

“Everyone promoted to Daleth by the end of the school year.” Irumi mused, leaning back against her golden throne, the soft cushions of the gilded chair caressing her figure in a welcoming embrace. Gentle enough to be relaxing but not comfortable enough to allow either one of them to fall into slumber. Thrones aren't meant to be entirely pleasant to be in anyway, they were seats of purpose and duty. These two hidden thrones of the prince and princess of the Royal One were meant to get them into that mindset of being the future sovereigns. To plan and guide the future of the Netherworld and their first task was to get the rest of their class promoted to the bare minimum to graduate demon high school by the end of their first year. “What do you think Uma?”

“Let's see.” Iruma crossed his arms and looked to the glimmering chandelier above them, the remaining activities of the school year listing themselves off inside his mind. “The end of terminus tests, dad just said we need to pass them to keep the Royal One, but I'm pretty sure that Alephs that score well get promoted by one rank so there's that at least.” He started tapping his index finger against his bicep to help concentrate and organize his thoughts. “The top scorer would also definitely get a more substantial reward, but right now we should only focus on everyone passing this test.” He looked down to their classmates, the half that were out of the know still going through the existential panic that their father sent them into. “We should probably give them some kind of incentive to calm down.”

“OH! How about an all expenses paid trip to Walter Park!” The princess suggested as her eyes turned into stars, millions of memories going through her mind as she recalled every visit with their retainers and cousins as they threw off the labels of royalty for the time to just frolic about in the Ronove land of enchantments. Didn't matter that it functioned on the ill will of condemned criminals, their sympathy was only for those that didn't threaten their people. Then her hair suddenly had fox-like ears pop up on her head as she developed a mischievous smile. “Oh~ this will definitely encourage them to give these tests their all!” She said in excitement as her twin met her gaze. She didn't need to say anything, Iruma just understood what her plan was and development his own equally sinister grin.

“That will be delicious to witness Umi.” He hissed through his teeth, barely able to contain his laughter before taking a breath to compose himself. “Okay. Back to planning.” He said, managing to calm down his twisted desire. “After the end of Terminus exams there's a lengthy break to enjoy, but after that are the Harvest and Music Festivals. Knowing dad, he'd make the big prize of the Harvest Festival something that would require the cooperation of the entire class and Poro-chan would want to see something utterly incredible. Think Moa will be a judge as well?”

“Hmmm, probably not.” Irumi hummed in thought with a finger to her chin. “Having one of the two musical titans being judges at the Babyls Music Festival might be fine, especially since it is her Alma Mater, but two is overdoing it. Though I'd love to see them again soon. We're proper Demdols now after all and I'd love to sing a personal song from them.” She said with a nostalgic smile before thinking about their future performances for all the family and friends that supported them growing up. Iruma shared her mirth as the royals made their plans for the future while the majority of the Misfits kept freaking out. Alice, Sabro, Purson, and Kalego just watching the madness unfold while Clara just played along for the fun of it. “We should probably put an end to this, right?”

“Yep.” The prince agreed as he shot to his feet and let out a quick ear piercing whistle that shocked everyone back to focusing on them. “Okay, now that we have your attention, calm down already!” He called out to the crowd of Misfits, making them all stiffen and do the opposite of what he just told them to do. “Baby steps Iruma. Baby steps.” He sighed and muttered to himself before shrinking down to his disguised form and walked toward his classmates, Irumi following suite behind him. “Yes, my sister and I are actually the prince and princess of the realm and we've been keeping that hidden from you.”

“But that doesn't mean that the experiences we've shared were lies or unpleasant to us.” Irumi added as she joined her brother's side. “And frankly, we've enjoyed our time with you guys a whole lot!” She gave them a bright smile that immediately seemed to calm and soothe their hearts, the princess seeming to actually shine with iridescent light. “We truly meant it when we suggested that you all can be truly outstanding demons. Will you continue to walk with us, as fellow Misfits? As potential crowns?” She asked as she held out a hand, her gentle smile filling each one of them with encouragement as they thought that what she was asking for wasn't an impossibility but something that they could truly pull off. Something that they wanted to succeed in, to become potential future members of the 13 Crowns.

“Our first step seems to be actually rather easy when you think about that as the end goal doesn't it?” Iruma continued, getting everyone's attention back on him. “Everyone has to pass,” the prince recited, “not ace, just pass. All we have to do is make sure everyone gets a passing mark on the test. Shouldn't be that hard if we just study right.” He said with an encouraging smile of his own, hoping to reach the rest of the students. Shax put his arms behind his head and hummed aloud.

“That's easy for you to say your highness.” He said, a bit of cheek in his tone as if he was gambling with how much he could get away with how he was talking to the royal. “You two probably had the literal best teachers in all of the Netherworld your whole lives. What was the point of doing this whole thing to claim the Royal One since you're the prince and princess and it should've been yours from the start?” He was then whacked on the head by the professor in the room.

“Because earning it was the point you ninny.” Kalego scolded as he walked passed the students. “Lord Derkila has made the decision that the future of the Netherworld has basically come as far as it could with the purely demon mindset. So he's been steadily raising our lord and lady in a very non-demon-like manner, where they enjoy the struggle and overcoming the odds to succeed and climb ever higher. Also, Lied, flattery gets you nowhere with me. You should understand that by now.” The guard dog of Babyls explained while some of the students felt their jaws drop.

“W-wait. Professor Kalego-” Jazz started, being the first to somewhat come to his senses.

“Yep, he's been one of our teachers for as long as we can remember.” Irumi answered, skipping to Kalego's side with a beaming smile. “He's literally one of the very best teachers you can ask for!” This prompted a smirk from the professor as he gently stroked the princess's hair, shocking everyone with this image of the softer side of the most fearsome teacher of Babyls. “He does his very best to find out how to bring out the best in each one of his students.” She explained while Purson pulled out a stack of notebooks that he started to pass out.

“There's actually a personalized notebook for each student.” The silent spy answered, making Kalego stiffen as the twins latched onto him to keep him from stopping Soi. “Each one lists off your various strengths and weaknesses and how you can all work best to improve yourselves. Basically, your current failing grades,” he pointed to Jazz, Clara, Elizabetta, Caim, Picero, and Goemon, “are due to your own lack of efforts.”

“Which is no longer an option if we wanna keep this classroom people.” Iruma said as the twins let go of Kalego, letting him stomp over to collect each notebook. “From now on, we look at each challenge and conquer it, because then we shine brighter and get the chance to have way more fun!” He proudly declared and got everyone's attention again. “In fact,” Iruma then pulled out his phone and quickly dialed a number, “Lomiere. Reserve some passes for Walter Park. How many?” The prince turned back to the gobsmacked crowd staring at him in awe. “Do any one of you have any plans that might get in the way of a class trip like this?” Allocer tentatively raised his hand, his expression unreadable but his body screaming nervousness about upsetting the royal.

“Actually, professor Furcas invited me to attend a conference regarding magical studies.” The academic explained, getting a nod from the prince as he waited for someone else to speak up. When no one did he turned back to his phone.

“Thirteen student passes and... maybe four adult passes for a weekend during the End of Terminus.” Iruma finally ordered and the Misfits could swear they heard Lomiere singing suddenly. “Thanks Ronove. See you at the park.” He turned back to the crowd who were looking at him with sparkling excitement. “Pass your tests and we can all go to Walter Park!” He declared and getting a round of cheers before he turned back to his sister and their teacher. “That ought to have motivated them, but maybe call in professor Balam for an extra hand. I need to call Amerie.” Irumi nodded while Kalego got the students back under control.

(Timeskip: Various Studying Periods)

1st Period
“And that is the history of torture. Any questions?” Balam asked, looking over the students of the Misfit Class. Each one was holding a picture book related to the very subject and crying as they finished the saga of Balam's personalized study guides. Each one talking about the 'moving tale of the Lonely Torturer'. “I'm so glad my picture books have proven so helpful.” The masked gargoyle said with as much of a smile as he could have conveyed with just his eyes.

2nd Period
“Okay, let's try going with changing the flow of this verse, make it catchier.” Keroli suggested as her and the twins wrote out song lyrics related to demonic plants in the Royal One music room. Professor Stolas was all too happy to help with planning out the study guide. She even wanted a copy if it turned out well. Clara ended up coming in and was actually the biggest help with a surprising knack for catchy songwriting and choreography. Something her family apparently excelled in. “Okay, let's try this again. Clara!” The four of them got to the center of the room and pulled out some folded up fans. “Ready? 3,2,1!” They started moving and waving the fans as water started spraying out of them.

“All you need is just a little splash~!
Whoosh, whoosh, and watch them grow~ Happy little greens~!
The namejiroons thrive inside a dark and dreary scene~!”

“Okay! That works!” The Demdol cheered as she clapped in accomplishment. “Now let's get the rest of the class in on this!” Clara and Irumi rushed out while Iruma and Keroli got ready to record the full song.

3rd Period
“Okay, Jazz is really good at math, probably from his family's influence in a way.” Iruma called out as the students gathered around. “Sabro knows history and Lied managed to find us a collection of historically accurate games so we're good on that. We all know the songs. Allocer got a study guide from professor Furcas. How long is the mock exam professor Kalego?”

“It'll be half an hour. I'll give you all two hours before you can start.” The teacher said from his personalized teacher's throne next to a large chalkboard and a large basket of dodge balls. “Enjoy your study period and I will brain you if you slack off.” Some of the students sweat dropped at the threat.

“Don't worry. This means he wants us to succeed.” Irumi said with a bright smile, calming down the group.

“Yep. Meaning he then has to ask out professor Momonoki. Guess he actually wants to.” Iruma added with a more impish grin before quickly catching a ball that was shot at him like a lightning bolt. “Oh wait, that's the rumor I started.”

“I KNEW ONE OF YOU DID THAT!” Naberius roared out, Cerberus manifested and cackling with electrical power as he literally burned with fury. “WHY ARE YOU TWO SO INVESTED IN MY LOVE LIFE!?” He demanded as he bolted after the fleeing royals, who started laughing hysterically. A few seconds later, Balam slipped out from a pillar he was hiding behind.

“Alright, now that the stress factor is gone, who wants tea?” The gargoyle asked, getting several hands immediately.

Test Day
Finally the End of Terminus exams came and the tests were underway everywhere. Schenell tried to make a 'intelligence booster' potion but the twins stomped out that idea immediately knowing it'd backfire on him. Most of the Misfits were now much more confident about their chances, but there was still a touch of nervousness. Made all the worse because Kalego was now glowering at them, specifically the twins because he ended up agreeing to ask Momonoki out on a date if the entirety of the Misfits and her own class passed and didn't need to take remedial courses. Which is what happened with the students ranked as Aleph(1), Shax, Caim, and Goemon getting promoted one rank while Allocer was promoted to Gimmel(3) for being the top student.

The very next day
“I can't believe this.” Kalego groaned out, standing in the courtyard of Babyls with Momonoki standing across from him while blushing like a tomato. Poorly hiding was literally the entirety of Babyls: teachers, students, and other faculty members, all watching them. Well, the one exception was the elderly professor Morax, Momonoki's protective grandfather. He was tied up by Balam and Stolas who were hoping this would happen. “Some colleagues you all are!” Kalego growled in frustration before taking a breath. “Professor Momonoki, as a reward for passing their exams, my students will be attending a weekend at Walter Park and I will be chaperoning. Would you-”

“ABSOLUTELY!” The blue haired teacher shrieked out before attempting to recompose herself by coughing into her fist. “I-I-I mean, I would be happy to accompany you and your students to Walter Park.” Kalego looked around and spied the twins holding up a sign of something he very specifically had to mention. The Misfits' teacher was now clenching his teeth so hard his gums started to bleed.

“It....it's...a....date.” He growled out, to the mass cheering of the crowd, before turning to everyone around them. “COULDN'T THIS HAVE AT LEAST BEEN PRIVATE!?” He roared out at the crowd.

“NO!” Was the resounding response.

After party

“Okay, so the boys dragged Uma away to do karaoke for the next... however long so let's do a girls' get together!” Irumi said to Amerie as she was setting up a tea party, who was now just staring at her, Keroli, Clara, and Elizabetta. “They took his phone to make sure he doesn't get distracted from partying. They declared it 'guys night' so let's do girls night!” The princess suggested with a cheery smile. Amerie just blinked a couple times before sighing.

“Okay. There's goes my date night, but sure.” The president said as she grabbed her jar of a specialized tea blend and snacks. “Let's start bonding girls!” She declared with a smile while Clara gathered up the snacks. The girls led Amerie to a room with a short table and a still dazed Momonoki, just repeating 'date with Kalego' over and over. They gathered around the table and started to heat up the tea pot.

“Okay, time for introductions! I'm Elizabetta Ix of the Misfits!” The tall blonde member of the class excitedly called out with a happy wave as they started to drink and introduce themselves.

“I'm professor Momonoki and I'm in charge of transfiguration class.” The teacher and lone adult of the group added.

“I'm the princess of Babyls, Irumi of the Misfits.” Irumi greeted with a gentle smile.

“I'm Keroli Crocell.” The ice demon added, still keeping up her shy and demure act going since the class didn't know her identity as Kuromu.

“Aren't you also the Demdol Kuromu?” Valac asked, making everyone gape at her before Elizabetta and Momonoki turned to Keroli in disbelief.

“That was a secret Clara,” Irumi calmly reminded as she schooled her features, “just like me and Iruma being Aimur and Iirmu the Misfit Twins.” That made them look at her in shock now. “He's probably singing a song dedicated to Amerie right now. Or maybe Azzy's singing about me~.” She hummed out before pouring herself some tea. “Our fiances are just so into us my future sister!” She beamed to Amerie, now redder than hair and steaming. Elizabetta was literally beaming with rainbow hearts at this news.

“Details now please!” She called out excitedly, her eyes turning into glimmering stars as she gave Irumi and Amerie her full attention. “Love talk is an absolute must!”

“I thought you two were just dating! You're actually getting married!?” Keroli threw in, blushing up a storm and looking utterly scandalized. “It's too soon! Marriage in high school is just too reckless, even more so since we're Demdols!”

“This was decided long ago when we were children.” Irumi countered calmly, taking another sip of her tea. “Besides, we're the nobility. Engagements like these are entirely natural.”

“IT'S NOT FAIR!” Momonoki cried out suddenly, shocking the rest of the girls. “I've had this crush on professor Kalego ever since my first year as a teacher! And I needed my own students to trick him into a bet just to finally get a date with him!” She comical tears were falling from her eyes as she fell onto the table and chugged a cup of tea like it would calm anything. “I was struggling as a teacher when I started, every one of my senpai were giving me advice and support, and it was all done at Kalego's request and design! He's such an ideal teacher, so cool and everything I like, and I still couldn't work up the courage to even ask him out!”

“Well now you have your chance!” Elizabetta called out, getting very excited. “Walter Park is the land of fun and merriment! Take advantage and live up your date to the fullest!”

“We can do a triple date!” Irumi decided with her eyes gleaming. “My group will be me, Azzy, Uma, Amerie, and professors Kalego, and Momonoki! Let's draw up a guaranteed success date plan!” The princess demanded as the rest of the group joined her in the scheming. They were unaware that the tea they were drinking brings out your unrestrained desires.

Meanwhile, in the Karaoke Room

“She's blood, flesh and bone, No tucks or silicone. She's touch, smell, sight, taste, and sound. But somehow I can't believe, that anything should happen. I know where I belong, and nothing's going to happen, yeah” Asmodeus sang out as a song from the human world played on the machine with the prince playing on a guitar, keeping pace with the music. Every one of the boys were in a sort of daze thanks to Iruma spiking their last round of drinks with some relax juice. Now no one cared if the lyrics made sense to them or not. “Cause she's so high~! High above me, she's so lovely! She's so high~! Like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, or Aphro~di~te! Da da-da da da, she's so high. High above me.”

“First class and fancy free, she's high society.” Iruma chimed in, singing a part of the song the two decided to dedicate to their fiancees. Despite the fact that they wouldn't be hearing it. They might've drunk too much relax juice. “She's got the best of everything, what could a guy like me ever really offer? She's perfect as she can be. Why should I even bother? Cause she's so high~, High above me. She's so lovely. She's so high~, like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, or Aphro~di~te! Da da-da da da. She's so high. High above me”

Needless to say, the End of Terminus vacation was starting on a high note for the Misfit Class.

Notes:

Not really much to change here beyond the stuff at the end. Walter Park will be pretty different as a result though. Kind of excited for that one.
And I wanted to do a scene with 'She's so High' for a few days now so there's that.

Notes:

Let me know how this looks. I will admit that the twins will be pretty Mary Sue-ish, but would anyone expect any less from the Demon King's children?

Next chapter will come... when I feel like it. Don't know when that'll be.
