Chapter Text
They'd gone to bed late.
A normal occurence, really, considering they were pro gamers. Plus it had been New Year's Eve. Everyone stayed up late.
Their New Year's party this year had been a little different than usual, though.
Normally both Minhyung and him went home to their families, only sending eachother a quick "Happy New Year" text at midnight.
This year was different. They were different.
They wouldn't be able to spend every waking moment together. It made the time they did have together more... precious, more sacred. Something to really be cherished.
It had been Sanghyeok's idea, initially.
As calm and proper as he seemed on the outside, the more of a chaos instigator he was on the inside.
And so this year, Lee "Faker" Sanghyeok, legendary League of
Legends gamer, had decided he really wanted to see what other team dorms looked like, specifically on New Year's.
When asked, all he responded with had been a suspiciously innocent smile, the kind that immediatly clued Minseok in to the fact that this was a planned operation (not that he minded).
And so the entirety of T1 had spent the evening at the Hanwa Life Esports dormitory for a joint New Year's party. At least Sanghyeok had payed for the food.
It did end up being a lot of fun, actually.
Hwanjoong had immediatly challenged everyone to a drinking challenge, one only Sanghyeok had indulged him in - only to beat him by a landslide.
Geonwoo had initially taken up a conversation with Hyeonjoon-Hyung and Hyeonjun, until that had veered off into an avid training-plan- greatness-competition, much to Hyeonjoon-Hyung's apparent exasperation.
Wooje had simply kidnapped Suhwan and snuck off somewhere, presumably to cause unimaginable mischief and Minseok would have been more worried about it had he not seen Jinhyeok shuffle after them to supervise.
Not that Minseok could have done so if Jinhyeok had been any less responsible anyway, because he had yet to move from the doorway, where he had frozen in awestruck wonder at his boyfriend's godlike hotness.
It was unfair to look that good, actually.
Minhyung had just looked at him with that damned self-assured smile that Minseok loved so much.
He had said something - probably something stupid(ly adorable) - but Minseok had taken that opportunity to faceplant into his chest.
The other had caught him with an amused "Oof" and Minseok had immediatly taken the opportunity to wrap himself around his illegally hot boyfriend and become the world's best impression of an octopus - what can you say, he was a man of many talents.
"Clingy right from the get go, eh?", Minhyung had teased lightly.
"Oh shut up. I haven't been able to properly cuddle with you in weeks! No access to my favourite pillow AT ALL! I'm practically experiencing withdrawal symptoms."
Minhyung had laughed at that.
"All I am to you is a pillow!"
But he had carried him to the - unfairly nice - couch in the dorm's living room regardless.
That was also where the other's had found them once the food had arrived.
Amidst some teasing and one luckily averted food fight between Wooje and Hyeonjun, they had had a rather peaceful meal. Minseok had clung to Minhyeong throughout the evening, not that the other minded in the slightest, and they had watched the fireworks from the dorm balcony once midnight struck.
Minhyung had wished him a happy new year and kissed him so reverently Minseok had gotten dizzy.
Afterwards Hwanjoong had, still tipsy from his drinking game with Sanghyeok, suggested playing a whole plethroa of board games.
They had once again gathered in the living room and, considering they were two top-of-the-line esports teams with only the best players, things had gotten rather competitive. In the end, they really had played every single game the HLE dorms had to offer and had stumbled into bed tipsy and tired at around 5am.
And that's where Minseok was now - in bed.
Minhyung's bed, to be specific.
He didn't know exactly what time it was, but he didn't really care either.
Sunlight filtered softly through gaps in the blinds, casting the dark room into a gentle, almost twilight-esque, glow.
Minseok was lazily mapping Minhyung's face with his eyes. His face was fully relaxed in sleep, only his eye lids fluttering from time to time, his eye lashes resting gently on his cheeks. His lips formed a content smile and he snored lightly.
He looked at peace. (And endlessly cute, Minseok was going to die.)
Minseok himself was lying comfortably on his boyfriend's stomach, held in place by his unmatched octopus skills and the other's arms.
He wouldn't get many of these moments this year - or the next, probably.
But, as he was lying in the other's arms, warm and cozy and loved, looking at his peaceful face - a peace he had seen seldomly throughout the last year...
...he thought that maybe, just maybe, these few precious moments were worth it. Worth the distance, the change (the pillow losses).
After all, Minhyung would never truly be gone. Only a text, a call, a heartbeat away. And Minseok would come to him if he needed him and Minhyung would come to Minseok if he needed him.
That had always been them.
So Minseok cuddled closer to his partner once more, closing his eyes. resting for a few hours longer.
He could still get Minhyung's schedule for the sleepover plan later, after all.
