Chapter 1: Verde

Chapter Text

Klein is no expert in gems and jewelry, but he can say he does have an eye for beauty and at least a sense of style. Modern-day fashion and aesthetics have come a long way after all back when he was still living on Earth.

As days went by living in Tingen, juggling between working on missions with the Nighthawks and being the Tarot Club's The Fool, Klein liked taking walks as it helped clear his mind of things. Or more like he provided himself a moment to relax and freely organize all of the many tasks he has to accomplish.

While walking down the fashion district, he suddenly found himself stopping in front of a jewelry store, a certain piece displayed on the shop window catching his eye.

It was a simple silver necklace with a rectangular emerald pendant. It was simple in design so it'd fit with most outfits. It caught Klein's attention mostly because the emerald's shade resembled the eyes of a certain aspiring poet of a co-worker he has.

He then hums in thought as he then continues on his walk. It was not like he could afford it...

On his way to the train station for his train to Backlund, Klein had passed by that same jewelry store. Somehow, even with his minimized finances, Klein found himself stepping into the jewelry shop. After awhile he finally stepped out and continue on his way to the station, a small box containing that same necklace now in his breast pocket.

It took a longtime for Klein to actually gift it to Leonard. It took a few months since he and Leonard reunited since the revenge against Ince Zangwill. He had Reinette send the necklace, still encased in its velvet box, alongside a small note that said, "For you. Happy Birthday in advance. ~K.M."

Leonard found himself surprised when as soon as he entered his house, he was told by Pallez that Klein's messenger left him something on the living room table. He almost rushed inside, carelessly throwing his coat on his living room sofa as he picks up the box. After reading the note, he immediately opened the case.

His eyes widened as he admires the necklace, Leonard caresses the gem with his thumb, smiling softly as he then lifts it up from its case and puts it around his neck. "What do you think old man?"

"Quite precious don't you think?"

"Exactly." Leonard smiles as he rubs the pendant. Since then, he continues on wearing it whether at work or at home. It was Klein's first gift to him after all.

Notes:

Another drabble from X migrated to here (wipes sweat). The thought of each member wearing an accessory gifted to them by Klein had me sparkling so yep here it is. Each member is assigned a specific gemstone and accessory.

Should I write the rest? Yes. Do I do it right now? NOPE. EHEH.
