Chapter Text

Lucifer teleported to the door of Charlie’s room, knocking on it. “Charlie! I got great news! Michael said we could do your redemption plan!” Almost immediately, the door swung open, narrowly missing Lucifer as he stepped back. Charlie’s eyes sparkled as she gripped the door frame with white knuckles. “Really?! That’s-“ She leaped to pull her father into a tight hug. “AMAZING!” She released Lucifer and he started to breathe again. “Thank you so much, dad! I promise we’re not making a mistake!”
Lucifer smiled. “Don’t thank me, thank Michael! He’s the one who approved it!”
Charlie grinned. “I’ll be sure to when I see him! So we can send down a guardian angel? Which sinner do we redeem first? Oh! Wait!” Charlie shook her hands in excitement. “How about Alastor?”
Lucifer, who had been nodding and smiling, stiffened. His elder siblings didn’t like when Alastor was involved with political or large scale heaven matters. Lucifer didn’t like Alastor that well, but the guilt of what he attempted to do this morning had been weighing on him. He shouldn’t have gave into his anger after his nightmare last night. He could still see the nightmare fresh in his mind. Lucifer rubbed his head. “Um…I can ask…Raphael! Then I’ll tell the red guy about it.” Surely the virtue of compassion would understand the situation. And he didn’t hate Alastor as much as Michael or the others.

Charlie smiled. “Okay! Thank you, dad!”

Lucifer smiled, but as soon as Charlie closed the door, he cursed and snapped his scepter.

Alastor was washing up in his room. Luckily, his years of murdering people in cold blood when he was a human taught him well how to hide bloodstains in his clothes and wash up properly. Sera, the head of seraphim, knew about the exterminations, but the archangel siblings would be enraged if they knew such a vile thing exists.

He adjusted a cravat on his collar when a knock came on his door. Shit. He hadn’t washed his scepter off yet, but if it was one of the archangels, they probably came to ask something. He ran a finger over the stitches on his mouth. It would be impossible to communicate without his scepter. They would know something was suspicious. And it would be also impossible to use his scepter without them seeing the blood on it.

Unless…
The knock rapped again, louder and more annoyed. Alastor had to take his chances. He strolled over and opened the door.

Lucifer, the shortest and youngest of the siblings stood there, hands impatiently drumming on his scepter. Except the scepter looked like someone broke it in rage and taped it back together.

Alastor’s plan to hide his sceptre was a stupid one. If he held it behind his back until Lucifer left, surely he wouldn’t notice the uncleaned blood staining the sceptre. Alastor smiled as the staff buzzed behind him. “Greetings, my lord. What brings you here?”
Lucifer stopped drumming his fingers and looked to the side. “Uhhh…remember that redemption thing Charlie was talking about?”
Alastor hummed, the static cracking through the air. “Yes, and?”

“Since it would be dangerous to send Charlie down to guide sinners to redemption, she suggested sending a ‘guardian angel’.” Lucifer put emphasis on those two words. “So…she suggested you. You’re doing it right?”

Alastor wanted to laugh. Him? A guardian angel? That would be the last thing he would be called. It was more likely he would die before being called a “guardian angel”. But if it gives him an excuse to stay in hell…
Alastor smiled. “I would be delighted to! And if I may ask, who is this spectacular sinner I shall be guiding to the path of redemption?”

Lucifer whipped out a paper. “Hmm…some dude named ‘Vox’. Sounds like a stupid name to me, but I’m sure you can handle stupid people.”
Alastor’s smile widened. “Certainly had a lot of experience.”
Lucifer narrowed his eyes. “I feel like you’re trying to jab at me somehow-“
Alastor waved his hand. “Nonsense! Go on, keep talking about this redemption plan.”
Lucifer rolled his eyes and pocketed the paper. “Pack whatever you need and you’ll be going down there tomorrow morning.” Then he drummed his fingers on his apple sceptre again. “And…here’s a….thing.” He held out a small circular jar about the size of a coin. “It’s a cream from Raph, for your broken wings.” Lucifer tugged on a strand of his hair. “Okayseeyoubye.” He muttered quickly as he turned, his wings fluttering behind him. A burst of flame covered him as he teleported away.

Alastor chuckled to himself as he closed the door. The way the youngest archangel acted when his siblings weren’t around were opposites to when his siblings were watching him. Alastor set his still bloodied sceptre aside as he twisted open the jar. Inside was a cream speckled with gold flakes. It seemed to be radiating a glow of some angel magic. It must be some medicine, since Raphael had given it to Lucifer.

Alastor tossed the jar into the trash and picked up his sceptre, striding back into the bathroom to finish clearing the remaining bloodstains.
