Chapter Text
Saiki peered around the blank walls of the UA dorm from his bed. Usually his room lacked decoration, as he wasn’t the type to be worried about looks for that matter, but this room felt bare and cold, his only belongings being his glasses folded and resting on the desk next to him. He sighed, sitting up, and spread his hand towards his glasses, casually letting them float into his grasp as he unfolded them and slid them back onto his face.
It was probably time to head back home now, even though Saiki found this world pretty interesting, mostly by the fact that between being powerless and having powers, the latter was the most common. But overall, Saiki was tired of all the attention, and not to mention if he spent too long here, it would be harder to gaslight his idiotic friends into believing this whole experience was a dream. He stressed his fingers through his hair, making the pink locks poke in different directions. Ok, time to get up and just teleport back. He could already imagine the luxuries of home, the biggest ones of all being his familiar bed and a stocked fridge.
The floor creaked as his feet hit the ground, and Saiki cringed. He didn’t want to wake anyone up and alert them of his departure, he wanted to be as inconspicuous as possible. He slowly opened the door, and after light consideration decided on making himself invisible for a good measure. Eventually, Saiki managed to find his way to his friends' rooms, and prepared to teleport.
Pop!
Saiki opened his eyes and looked at his surroundings. This wasn’t home at all, where was his bed and coffee jellies and everything else he missed? Even though the atmosphere wasn’t the same, Saiki could easily tell they hadn’t changed universes, since there were still a great deal of unnatural and strange looking people. ‘Ok, maybe try again?’ He told himself, taking a breath as his stomach sank uncomfortably.
He reached up and popped off one of his dampeners, too impatient to wait for his 3 minute cooldown. Checking to see if Kaido and Nendo were still with him (sure enough, they were fast asleep on the grass; Kaido somehow managed to bring along his blanket and pillow), he prepared to teleport again, this time trying to think extra hard about his home.
The bed creaked as he flopped down again, and Saiki rubbed his strained eyes underneath his glasses. It wasn’t working, why wasn’t it working? It should work, he’s never had problems with too little power, this was a new experience. Usually, his powers would either go out of hand or disappear entirely. But this time, even without the dampeners holding him back, he had no way of getting home.
He rolled over, now getting to look at a different wall now, still bare and white, just like the last. ‘What a view,’ he thought, sighing. Unable to find comfort in his own thoughts, Saiki closed his eyes, hoping a bit of sleep might help, or perhaps he would wake up back in his bed, grateful it was all just a dream. With a flick of his fingers, the lightswitch turned off, drowning himself in darkness as he drifted off into a restless sleep.

Aizawa wrapped his fingers around his coffee mug, one that the school had automatically given to him as a welcoming gift when he first began his teaching career, white with the UA logo plastered on the front. He wasn’t one for sentimentality, but he found it useful, and after enough times using it he couldn’t see himself drinking out of any other cup.
He sighed into the steam, trying to ignore the chatter of the teachers around him in the staff lounge as he brought the mug to his lips.
“Hey Shota!”
Aizawa jumped, almost splashing his scalding hot coffee all over himself as he glared over his shoulder, catching Yamada grinning foolishly at his husband.
“You need to really stop doing that,” Aizawa groaned, still glaring at his husband as the blonde circled around the couch and sat next to him, the cushion sinking with the added weight.
“How’s it going with the new interns?” Yamada asked, completely ignoring Aizawa’s complaint as he slung an arm casually over his shoulder, causing the Eraser-hero to almost spill his coffee again.
“It’s ok, nothing new,” Aizawa shrugged, setting his mug down on the coffee table in defeat, “One of the kids seemed astonished to realize he could even use his quirk in the first place.” As he talked, the door to the lounge opened, and Nezu entered the room. Aizawa gave him a slight wave as the animal (or whatever it was, Aizawa was too afraid to ask) settled down on the couch opposite of him.
“One of them has a pretty good grasp on his quirk though compared to the others, Saiki, was it? It seems he has multiple, so far I’ve seen him change the landscape and move things with his mind,” Aizawa sighed. “Who knows what else he can do.”
Principal Nezu chimed in, having been listening to the conversation. “How about the girl, how is she doing?”
Aizawa raised an eyebrow. “Girl? There’s no girl.”
“Oh no, that can’t be right, I was sure there was a female intern joining class 1A, Aimi Arata I believe it was?”
“No, there’s not,” Aizawa shook his head, his suspicion growing, “I was sure there were supposed to be 3 interns, but I never heard about the genders or the names.”
“Do you remember the names of the new interns?” Nezu asked.
Aizawa thought for a second, trying to remember. “Kusuo Saiki, Shun Kaido, and Riki Nendo.”
Nezu was no longer smiling as he rose to his feet, brushing himself off. “I’m afraid this can’t be right, either we have the wrong information about the interns, or worst case scenario we have something else going on with these ‘students’. And I seriously doubt it’s the first one, we are very thorough. Will you excuse me?” The animal moved to the other end of the room, talking to another teacher in a hushed voice that Aizawa couldn’t hear. He tried to eavesdrop, but from his position he wasn’t able to distinguish any words. After a quick conversation between Nezu and the other teacher, Nezu stood up and approached Aizawa, motioning him to follow. He obeyed, putting a quick hand to Yamada’s shoulder before leaving with the principal, closing the door behind them.

Nezu led them to his office, waiting until the door was shut to speak. Aizawa sat down in the closest chair, realizing it was not as broken in as the one he was used to in the teacher’s lounge. Ignoring the unfamiliar stiffness, he shifted in his seat as Nezu spoke.
“We looked in the system, and we didn't see anyone enrolled with the names of any of those 3 boys.” The principal picked up the phone on his desk, and began dialing a number.
“I’m contacting Detective Tsukauchi, I’m sure something must have happened to those interns, and we need to figure out who these replacements are,” Nezu explained, putting the phone to his ear. Aizawa could barely hear the ringing, and held his breath when he heard a voice on the other end as he listened in.
“Hello, who’s calling?”
“It’s Nezu, the principal of UA, do you remember me?”
“Oh yes, I believe I do. How can I help you?”
Nezu crossed his legs as he continued, face serious.
“There is an issue here, we have missing interns and unknown replacements, and I’m afraid there may be something bigger at hand.”
There was a pause on the other end.
“I’ll be on my way.”
