Chapter Text
Athena led her parents to her car and she helped them with their luggage and put it in the boot.
Everyone gets into the car and Athena drives away from the airport.
“So we are going straight to your house Athena and I hope the spare bedroom has been made up for us?.” Beatrice asks.
“You're staying at a hotel mum as I told you that's what was happening.” Athena says.
“And I told you I'm not happy with that.” Beatrice says.
Athena stops the car and turns to her mother.
“Then get out and walk as you told me a day before that you were coming and you didn't give me any notice and thanks to you my captain had to struggle to find cover for my next 5 shifts and now you think you're staying in my house after I told you that you are staying in a hotel. I don't think so.” Athena says.
We are happy to stay in a hotel sweetheart. Aren't we Beatrice?.” Samuel asks.
Samuel looks at his wife and he won't have her doing what she always does and that's telling Athena how much she is screwing up her life and her kids.
“A hotel is fine.” Beatrice says.
Athena smiles at her dad and she is glad that he has her back.
“Athena sweetheart please don't take this the wrong way but I noticed you still have your engagement and wedding ring on and I thought you and Michael divorced years ago so why are you still wearing them?.” Samuel asks.
Athena looks at her engagement and wedding ring and it looks like the ones Michael got her but they are completely different.
“Ok I need to tell you something and I'm sorry that I've kept it from you but a few years after me and Michael divorced I met someone and we got married.” Athena says.
“Athena, that's wonderful, we are so happy that you have recently gotten married.” Samuel says.
“Actually dad, I've been married for 3 years.” Athena says.
“3 years and we are just finding out now. My god Athena, how could you keep something like that from us?.” Beatrice asks.
“Why do you think I didn't tell you as it's my choice if I want to tell you anything about my life.” Athena says.
“Athena I'm shocked and I thought you would have told us that you were getting married again.” Samuel says.
“Daddy listen to me. I never meant to keep it from you but after everything that happened after you both found out that Michael and I were getting divorced it felt like if I told you then my new husband would be under attack and it wasn't just him that would be getting character assassinated as he is a single father.” Athena says.
“Oh another thing she has kept from us.” Beatrice says.
“Do you know what, how about you get out and walk and I'll drive dad to the hotel and my new husband is also white and here is a god damn photo of him and our son.” Athena says and she shows her mother a photo of Bobby and Buck and it's at Buck's University Graduation.
“How old is his son?.” Samuel asks as he can see the photo.
“He is 19 and he is a genius and his IQ is off the charts.” Athena says.
“What's my son in law and grandson's names?.” Samuel asks.
“Their names are Bobby and Buck.” Athena says.
“Well I can't wait to meet them and get to know them.” Samuel says.
Beatrice looks at the photo again and the two men look happy and she then swipes to another photo and it's a picture of all three of them and she sees that her daughter looks so proud and she sees that both men look at Athena and they have love in their eyes.
“Why is he a single father?.” Beatrice asks.
“Because Buck's mother cut all contact and she signed all her rights away.” Athena says.
“How old was Bobby when he had Buck?.” Samuel asks.
“He was 19 and he had an affair with the woman.” Athena says.
“So he likes to break up marriages.” Beatrice says.
“He was 19 and stupid when he had that affair and that woman should have told Bobby that she wasn't going to cheat on her husband as she loved her husband so she is also to blame and Bobby knows he was stupid but that's what people do when their young they make mistakes but he is never ashamed that his son was the product of that affair.” Athena says.
Samuel looks at his wife and he knows that if she keeps pushing then Athena will definitely make her walk.
“So are we going to meet them while we are visiting?.” Samuel asks.
“Yes you are but Buck is a teacher so I'll need to see what days he is free” Athena says.
“Well he has the weekend off so we can meet then.’ Beatrice says.
“Buck has a boyfriend as well and it is down to him if he wants to meet you on the weekend.” Athena says.
“Well whatever day Buck can do then it's fine with us.” Samuel says.
Athena smiles at her dad and then she then turns the ignition back on and drives to the hotel.
Athena and Bobby’s House.
Bobby woke up and he went and got ready as it was his turn to take Harry to school before he went to the fire house.
After getting Harry up and telling him he has 5 minutes to get ready.
Bobby goes and gets started on breakfast and he is halfway through the breakfast he hears the front door opening.
Buck walks in and he comes down the stairs and he hears someone in the kitchen so he goes and sees who that is.
Buck enters the kitchen and sees it's his dad.
“Morning son.” Bobby says when he sees Buck entering the kitchen.
“Morning.” Buck says.
“I thought you were working today?.” Bobby asks.
“No, some of my students are going on a day trip.” Buck says.
“So what are you going to do today?.” Bobby asks.
“I have assignments to look through and grade plus I have to get some work for my assessor done as it's not long until I'm getting signed off.” Buck says.
Buck only has a few months until he is fully qualified as a teacher and he has started to apply for other teaching jobs at other schools but he has also applied for a teaching job at the school he is currently working at but he won't find out for another couple of weeks if he is going to get interviewed.
Harry comes into the kitchen and he hugs his brother.
“Morning buddy.” Buck says.
Harry and May get on really well with Buck and they love having him as their big brother but they do annoy him sometimes just like he annoys them.
“Buck, when is Chris coming over?.” Harry asks.
The moment Chris met Buck's family he completely won them over and he and Harry became friends right away and Buck is glad that his family have accepted Eddie and Chris.
“I don't know. This weekend me,Eddie and Chris are spending time together.” Buck says.
Harry understands that Buck needs to spend time with his boyfriend and their son but he gets annoyed sometimes.
“Tell you what, I'll speak to Eddie and we will try to have a guys weekend. What do you say?.” Buck asks.
“Cool, I can't wait.” Harry says.
“Ok Harry, have some breakfast and then check your backpack as we are not coming back once we leave the house so make sure that you have everything for school today.” Bobby says.
Harry nods and he has some breakfast and then he does as Bobby says and he checks that he has everything for school.
Buck takes a cup of coffee and he goes and sits at the table and opens up his laptop and he starts to get started on what work he needs to do.
Bobby looks at his watch and he sees that it's time to leave and Harry gets his shoes on and he picks up his lunchbox and Bobby picks up Harry's bag as well as his own and they both say goodbye to Buck and leave the house.
Bobby drives Harry to school and once they get there Harry gets out and he says goodbye to Bobby and goes inside.
Normally Bobby would get out of the car and walk in with Harry but today he needs to get to the station as the 118 has their annual inspection today and they are expecting 3 of the chief's to come.
Bobby is halfway to the station when his phone goes off and he sees Hen is calling.
“Hey Hen what's up?.” Bobby asks as he answers the call.
“Hey Bobby I'm going to be late unfortunately.” Hen says.
Bobby is not happy as he told everyone that he needs them to be on time today and with Hen being the lead paramedic she needs to be there when the chief's arrive.
“Why are you going to be late?.” Bobby asks.
“Me and Karen had to take Denny to hospital as he threw up last night and he was having convolutions.” Hen says.
“Hen I'm sorry to hear that. Is Denny ok?.” Bobby asks.
“Yeah Karen is just talking to the doctor at the moment.” Hen says.
“Ok. I'll put you on emergency leave for a few days and then we will touch base and see what's going on.” Bobby says.
“Thank you Bobby and I'm so sorry.” Hen says.
“It's fine. Tell Denny I hope he gets better.” Bobby says.
“I will and I'm sorry.” Hen says.
“Family comes first.” Bobby says.
Bobby hangs up and he then calls Eddie.
“Hey Bobby, what are you calling for?.” Eddie asks.
“I need you to come in today as Hen has had a family emergency.” Bobby says.
“Ok I'll need to ask Buck to look after Chris as his school is closed today.” Eddie says.
“That's fine. I'll see you in 2 hours.” Bobby says and he hangs up.
