Chapter Text
She went back to the bathrooms but she wasn’t there either.
For the first time in her life Wednesday was...scared.
“Enid?!”
She didn’t know how to look for her, where to go.
She couldn’t help but blame herself, who had previously had a bad feeling about it but didn’t listen to because for the first time she was...happy?
Her thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice.
“Wednesday!” A red-haired girl screamed and suddenly appeared.
“Agnes?”
The redhead was terrified. Nervous.
With shaken breath and tears in her eyes. Those big green eyes staring at Wednesday’s, just as shaken and agitated.
“He. He took it. He dragged her away...without giving her time to transform”.
He.
Tyler.
Wednesday wasn’t stupid.
Indeed.
She had understood the intentions of that monster.
Enid was a “means”.
A bait.
An excuse to get to her.
Enid, the only person who ever made her heart beat was in Tyler’s hands because of him.
She stared at the void, with what were almost tears in her eyes, trying to understand where he could have taken her.
“Wednesday?”
“I’m sorry...I was thinking. Did you see which direction they were going?”
“In the...woods,I think. But Wednesday wait...you can’t go there alone!”
“Oh no? Because that’s exactly what I’ll do. You’ll stay here...I’ve already put too many people at risk.”
Without thinking twice she left.
Not taking the main exit.
No.
They would have seen her there.
They would have understood that something was wrong.
And this would mean putting other people in danger.
As if Enid wasn’t enough.
She returned to their room, from there she could escape from their balcony that overlooked directly into the woods.
She thought it was a good idea. But actually it made her feel worse.
As soon as she entered she noticed the part of Enid’s room.
Those stuffed animals whose colors gave her to her head and to which she was potentially allergic.
Those celebrity posters or love movies that she loves so much.
But above all the memories spent together.
From the first meeting to the first... kiss.
Trying to hold back her tears she left that room, which without the presence of that girl-lop was just a place full of emotional memories. Too many.
The forest was ghostly at night, but that cave even more.
Any step he made rumbled in an annoying noise.
“Let me go!”
No answer.
“You don’t really think she’ll come alone, do you?” Said the blonde sure of herself, or at least trying to be while she was all too well attached to...whatever it was.
Nothing.
He did everything to have the attention of that monster, in a human version.
But Enid, in her heart, knew she was wrong.
She knew it very well.
She knew her all too well.
Wednesday. She whispered that name in her head all the time, because if she had to die it would have been her last thought.
Even with a stabbing pain in his head due to the big wound behind her back she couldn’t stop thinking about her.
“She will kill you, you know that?”
“Shut up!” He screamed, causing Enid to shiver with surprise.
“You underestimate me. You think I’m naive but you’re the naive ones. You’ll see...when your dear friend arrives I’ll put an end to your ridiculous lives”.
Enid didn’t answer.
She just really hoped that Wednesday would arrive soon...or she wouldn’t arrive at all.
Wednesday was just walking following a direction guided by his instincts at least for a few meters...until she saw a red liquid: blood.
She widened his eyes for awareness.
Enid was hurt.
Probably in a serious way.
She had to move.
She followed the tracks, with as quiet steps as possible and Thing on her right shoulder.
The noises were disturbing, but not for her.
She was ready to fight, she couldn’t wait to do that. It was time to put an end to this story.
Deep in thoughts, Thing moved his fingers on Wednesday's shoulder, as if to get her attention.
And he pointed.
They were outside a large cave, following the trail of blood, now slightly lightened but still present.
"Enid!"
Thing dropped to the ground, hiding. Not that it was difficult for a hand.
As soon as they entered the cave, Tyler emerged, his face unsettling and confident.
"Took you a while...you know, I expected more from Wednesday Addams."
"Where is she?" she asked with a look that could kill anyone, if only that could be done.
"Why do you care so much about your roomie?"
"Because she saved my life once...and now I'm going to save hers."
It wasn't a lie, but a way to keep the real answer hidden, private.
She immediately lunged at him, unsheathing a knife that could at least wound him, catching him almost by surprise and giving him a slight scratch.
They continued to fight, him now transformed into the monster he was, but Wednesday knew she could keep him at bay with her fighting skills.
They were both wounded, but Wednesday knew she couldn't do it alone.
She was at a great disadvantage.
Luckily, she managed to hit him hard enough to knock him unconscious for a moment and grunt in pain, knowing, however, that it would only last a short time.
Too short.
She rushed into the cave, in pain.
But it didn't matter. Enid had to be there.
Somewhere. She had to be.
"Enid!"
She wasn't there. But she saw an untied rope.
"Thing." She thought.
But she instantly found herself in the clutches of the Hyde, suspended in the air with its long claws wrapped around her neck, suffocating her.
Caught by surprise.
It was the end for her, she knew it.
But at least she knew that Enid was safe, thanks to Thing.
It certainly wasn't the evening they'd planned.
No, not at all.
Wednesday kept her eyes closed, almost ready to await death, a tear rolling down her cheek.
For the first time, she found herself thinking, she didn't want to die.
Until a loud noise echoed through the cave and she fell to the ground, confused.
Looking around, she saw Enid, her werewolf version, fighting the Hyde that moments before had been about to kill her.
Enid saved her again.
Wednesday knew Enid's intentions well.
The goth had injured Tyler earlier, but it wasn't comparable to the wounds inflicted by an alpha.
Wednesday watched the scene with pursed lips.
She was sure Enid would have made it.
*flashback*
“Wedns..?” Enid called, looking at the girl with braids lying on her bed, intent on reading a book.
“What?” she replied, without looking away.
“You have to promise me something.” She said, with a look and tone so serious that it provoked a reaction from Wednesday, who was now staring back at the other girl.
“What?
“You'll leave him to me.”
“Enid…”
“No. I'm serious. I want to be the one to do this.”
Wednesday, staring fixedly at her girlfriend, had never heard such a serious tone from her. Nor would she have expected it.
She nodded first, then confirmed with words.
“Okay, I trust you,” She replied proudly, almost smiling.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
*end flashback*
And so it happened.
Enid seemed out of her mind.
She was angry, fed up with the situation.
Tired of her life and the lives of the people she loved depending on a monster like Tyler.
Killing him was her revenge.
With all the pent-up anger in her body, all the times she was afraid, and all the tears she shed in Wednesday's arms... they were all emotions present in that fight.
And Wednesday understood it.
Enid had always been a quiet girl, cheerful twenty-four hours a day.
Also known as the shy girl who never hurt anyone, or who never responded rudely or offensively.
If anyone ever made you smile, that was her.
She tried to avoid problems, including her family.
But she moved on, she always did.
It was after her first time wolfing out that something in her changed permanently, but in a positive way.
Even better when she discovered she was an alpha.
Of all people, her.
So finally, that fight was a way to let it all out.
Enid killed him, once and for all.
And Wednesday kept her promise.
Finally, she ran toward Enid, who was slowly returning to her human form.
First her hands, then the rest of her body, now covered in wounds. Blood.
Thing reappeared on the scene, tapping his fingers, pointing to a coat hanging on a chair.
Wednesday, moving away a little, ran to grab it and, kneeling, wrapped it around Enid's now fully human body.
Wednesday wrapped his arms around her, resting his forehead against hers, and Enid, with the little strength she had left, placed a hand on Wednesday's cheek, closing her eyes.
"Is it really over?"
"It is. You did it, Enid.” Wednesday sobbed, letting go completely for the first time.
With Enid, she could.
With great difficulty, they made it back to the now silent Nevermore leaving the Hyde’s corpse in the woods that will surely be found in the next few days.
No one was around at that hour, despite the events of that evening.
Returning to their room, Wednesday slowly laid Enid on her bed.
“The infirmary’s closed right now…but I’ll take you there myself as soon as you wake up tomorrow.” She said with a worried tone, looking at her wounds.
“I don’t need it…being an alpha werewolf has its perks, you know?”
“Then let me handle it.” She said, pulling out an aid kit from her closet, hidden behind a pile of clothes.
Enid watched her, surprised.
Wednesday would take care of her wounds, even if they were short-lived thanks to her nature of being a werewolf.
“Are you serious?”
“You can be sure I’m serious, Sinclair.”
Enid smiled at her.
She knew very well she was serious.
Wednesday never ceased to amaze her, actually.
“You have quite a few scratches, but the most significant wound is the one on your back, so I have to ask you…to turn around.”
She was slightly nervous, and you could tell by her tone of voice.
“No problem, but…you don't want to stab me in the back, do you?” he asked, laughing.
“Don’t you trust me?”
“I will always trust you, Willa.”
“You know it bothers me when you call me that…” she said, trying to sound convincing.
But with Enid, it just didn't work.
“It's not true. I know it's not true.”
“And how can you say that?” she asked, challenging her.
“Because…I've learned to know you. To understand your every move, your emotions, even when you think you don't have any. I've learned to observe you in every situation, to interpret everything you do, how you do it, and how you express yourself. I notice how, when you're afraid to show strong emotion, you turn away, avoiding direct eye contact. I know when you're lying or…when you're telling the truth.”
Wednesday hadn't even begun to disinfect the wound before her hand remained suspended in the air, stunned by those words.
Enid definitely knew her too well.
And she wasn't afraid of it, nor did it bother her.
It warmed her heart.
“You’re right…you know me well,” he said, starting to heal her wound, gently.
Her cheeks were now flushed from the situation she was in.
“I can’t see you, but…I know you’re blushing, Wednesday.”
Her hand still hanging, Wednesday found herself surprised by that statement.
Enid noticed the detachment of her hand from her body.
She could also feel Wednesday’s breathing on her shoulder.
He turned, surprising her, looking into her eyes.
“How…”
“I love you, Wednesday Addams.”
Never had words like that come out of the blonde’s mouth before. But with Wednesday, everything was different.
It was real.
“I love you too, Enid Sinclair.”
And obviously, words like that had never come out of the mouth of the gothic girl, who couldn't stand anyone, who didn't show feelings because she thought she didn't have any and that they didn't need to be shown.
She had always been the girl who didn't believe in love, who would never feel anything for anyone.
And yet, a girl who was her complete opposite changed her life.
THE END.
