Chapter Text
June 2015
Mike was enjoying his day. Willow and Chris were off with their grandparents for the week, and Jane was off at a summer camp for the month. Enjoying his day until he saw the news.
Oh.
His face falls. He's reminded of Will in a heartbeat. Maybe he still has a chance. Surely Will doesn't have anyone.
Though, why wouldn't he? Will was an attractive man, brother to a somewhat successful but sort of underground movie maker, a fun and energetic painter. He probably has someone itching to marry him, Will and this mysterious other man were definitely waiting for this day. Mike would like to say that he's proud Will finally gets to marry someone. He’d like to be able to call up Will, congratulate him on gay marriage being legalized, but theyd fizzled out of contact years ago, simply swept away with their separate lives.
Wouldn't hurt to check… right? Mike slowly opens up facebook on his computer in the office, perks of having kids: you're always up to date on technology. He fumbles with his wife’s logins before clicking the search bar hesitantly. Slowly, he types out the name he’s been dreading to read, write, look at, or even think about since 2 years post-college. When everything went to shit. The name feels wrong to type, but tastes oh so sweet as he whispers it while writing. The familiar movements of his tongue as he enunciates the words. It's like drinking 3 cups of wine at a party, enough to make Mike’s head spin slightly.
There it is. Will’s page. Luckily for Mike's questionable mental state, Will hasn't posted anything since last week. He looks… good, healthy, happy. It's a picture of Will and a couple women, surrounded by dirt, plants, and garden trowels.
