Mike is already awake, rubbing his eyes from the commotion. “Hey, you okay?” Mike flexes his wrist.
“Yeah.” Will says, swallowing his breath.
“Will, I know you’re not—”
“What do you want me to say Mike?! That I’m not good?!” Will chokes on the words. “That I dreamt of that son of a bitch mind flayer possessing me again?!”
Mike softens his eyebrows. “Well, yeah! I want you to be honest with me. I’m here anytime you wanna talk.” Mike drops his gaze to his hand. Thin streaks of blood ooze from his wrist.
Instantly, Will regrets snapping at Mike.“I —I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to snap. It’s just that…..it’s been everyday of this.”
“Everyday?”
Will wipes the tears on his face. “Yeah.”
“Why didn’t you say anything to me?”
Will scoffs. “What would you have done?”
“I don’t know. Talked to my mom about you and your mom moving in with us sooner? Something. Anything.”
“I think that would be too much to ask you of your parents.”
“It doesn’t matter. They’ll figure something out.”
