Summary
Will is climbing up the ladder of the tower while the storm around him is getting worse by the second. When he reaches the middle platform he steps onto it and sees someone already there.
“You want some?” Mike asks, already giving him the water bottle as Will walks towards the railing where he’s standing
“Thanks” Will says, accepting it
“So” Mike says, looking far ahead
“So” Will replies, handing back the bottle
They stand there, leaning against the railing as the thunder rumbles around them. Then Mike breaks the silence.

Back on November 6th, 1987, after Will’s attempt to tap into the hive mind leaves him comatose, Eleven dives into his subconscious to save him—and discovers secrets he never meant anyone, especially her, to know.
But Vecna sees them too. This time, he uses it to break them.

Will could still feel it. The storm. Feel the way it moved, fast and endless and alive, spreading through everything; through him. Black clouds twisting in impossible shapes, something enormous shifting inside them, something that saw him even when he couldn’t see it back.
He jerked upright with a gasp and the room slammed back into place around him.
The dorm he shared with Mike. The single beds they'd pushed together to make one. The faint glow of the lamp on the other side of the room – always left on for Will. The low, distant hum of the city that never slept.
New York. 1992.
Not there.
But the feeling didn’t leave. It clung to him, cold and heavy.
The lamp flickered.
He froze.
The light stuttered once, dimming and snapping back so quickly it barely resisted. But he felt it, the drum of energy, like a pulse.
Will’s stomach dropped.

Summary
He recoils in shock and terror when he sees its limbs – twisted and wrong. Its skin is torn open in places and hanging down, he can see the whiteness of bone beneath the torn flesh. A thick spurt of blood wells to the surface and splatters onto the floor between him and the sink.
The creature snarls and Mike screams.
It drops to the ground, twisting in mid-air to land on all fours. Its head is twisted in the wrong angle, its spine is sticking out from its back. More blood falls as the flesh is jostled. A thick, rotting smell fills the air.
Mike keeps screaming.
The handle jangles again, harsher this time. Will’s voice filters through, he sounds panicked. Mike can’t make out the words over the sounds of his own screams.
The creature titters, skittering forward, and Mike stumbles back. He hits the door with a loud thud. He’s still screaming.

The rescue mission proves more difficult than first thought and they discover that Vecna has meddled quite a lot in at least one of their friends' lives.

The lab tiles under her small hands shimmered like a mirage, warping at the edges as Dustin's consciousness bled into hers, his panic a wildfire scorching through neural pathways not built to hold them both. She couldn't feel anything but the absence where her powers had been—a phantom limb screaming for amputation.
Dustin's memories flickered like a failing projector. The church's shattered stained glass dissolved into the lab's flickering fluorescents, then back again, each transition razoring through El's synapses.
Then—impact.
The sonic weapon's frequency cut out so abruptly El's knees buckled from the whiplash of returning power. The sudden rush of it was worse than the deprivation: her telekinesis came roaring back like a severed artery finally unkinked, flooding her skull with pressure that made her scream. Or maybe that was Dustin. Their voices tangled in the shared space of his mind, indistinguishable as the psychic tether between them snapped with the violence of a bone breaking.
