“So” Mike says, looking far ahead
“So” Will replies, handing back the bottle
They stand there, leaning against the railing as the thunder rumbles around them. Then Mike breaks the silence.

Summary
He recoils in shock and terror when he sees its limbs – twisted and wrong. Its skin is torn open in places and hanging down, he can see the whiteness of bone beneath the torn flesh. A thick spurt of blood wells to the surface and splatters onto the floor between him and the sink.
The creature snarls and Mike screams.
It drops to the ground, twisting in mid-air to land on all fours. Its head is twisted in the wrong angle, its spine is sticking out from its back. More blood falls as the flesh is jostled. A thick, rotting smell fills the air.
Mike keeps screaming.
The handle jangles again, harsher this time. Will’s voice filters through, he sounds panicked. Mike can’t make out the words over the sounds of his own screams.
The creature titters, skittering forward, and Mike stumbles back. He hits the door with a loud thud. He’s still screaming.

Will could still feel it. The storm. Feel the way it moved, fast and endless and alive, spreading through everything; through him. Black clouds twisting in impossible shapes, something enormous shifting inside them, something that saw him even when he couldn’t see it back.
He jerked upright with a gasp and the room slammed back into place around him.
The dorm he shared with Mike. The single beds they'd pushed together to make one. The faint glow of the lamp on the other side of the room – always left on for Will. The low, distant hum of the city that never slept.
New York. 1992.
Not there.
But the feeling didn’t leave. It clung to him, cold and heavy.
The lamp flickered.
He froze.
The light stuttered once, dimming and snapping back so quickly it barely resisted. But he felt it, the drum of energy, like a pulse.
Will’s stomach dropped.

Summary
He barely managed to lay eyes on her before hands clamped down onto his arms and shoulders, and chaos erupted around them once again. Guns flew up as fists were thrown, and distantly, Mike heard his name among cries and other yelling, but when he lunged toward his friends, the hands on him tightened, preventing him from running to them.
It took him another second to realize they weren't just holding him back. They were pulling him away.
Post El's "death," Mike and the rest of the party are detained by Dr. Kay and the military. When Mike is separated from them, he is forced to deal with an off-the-rails Dr. Kay and an angry Sergeant holding a grudge.

He would die and that would be the end of the short and miserable life of William Byers. Which is really fucking sad because he feels like life would've finally been good for him. He'd defeated the Mind Flayer and Vecna. He'd finally gotten his love for Mike reciprocated. But now he was there, in his arms, quickly fading. The Mind Flayer’s connection was dragging him down with it into the depths of oblivion. Perhaps the universe still has one kindness to spare for him.
OR
Will is sent back to the summer of 1985 after he dies. He gets strange visions and enlists the help of Jane Hopper to recover his memories and hopefully save more than they could last time around.
