That in itself is not out of the ordinary; it’s the thin, black line curling like a vice around Will’s left ring finger and leading up his palm that terrifies him. He pushes up Will’s sleeve. He tries to pull away, but Mike keeps one hand locked on his palm as the other traces the line.
It extends up his wrist, stopping midway across his forearm, a black shadow marring his otherwise unblemished skin. If Mike stares hard enough, he swears he can almost see it moving. Up, and up, and up. Straight to Will’s heart.
