Chapter Text
Yoongi was not fond of the ferry that took them back to the mainland, and he made it extremely known as he clutched onto Taehyung for the ride.
Taehyung and Jimin needed to go back to their apartment to ship their old things out to the island, and Yoongi decided to take Seokjin’s advice and leave.
He seemed to be regretting it.
“What if the boat pops?” Yoongi asked, poking the side of it.
“I can turn into a rabbit and bite it if you’re curious.” Jungkook suggested, to which Yoongi kicked his ankle.
Jungkook did not have to come, in fact, everyone insisted he stay on the island. Jungkook, though, just grumbled something about Jimin and found himself on the boat with them.
The ferryman seemed to take delight in Yoongi’s (and Jimin, again) despair, and did some unfortunate maneuvers that nobody except maybe Jungkook was a fan of.
“You’d think I’d be used to it a second time.” Jimin was hunched into Taehyung. “I think it’s worse now.”
“I just realized we have to do it again on the way back.” Yoongi was close to tears as the ferryman ran straight into a wave, splashing the entirety of the boat. “There has to be another way. Don’t you humans have planes?”
“You don’t have an airport.” Jimin sighed. “Trust me, I checked.”
Getting off the boat was like winning an award for Jimin and Yoongi. Jungkook almost seemed disappointed when the ride was over.
“It’s been so long since I’ve been off the island.” Yoongi said, looking around suspiciously. “How different could it possibly be?”
Famous last words, Taehyung thought.
“This is where you moved from?” Yoongi shrieked as if Taehyung could not hear him.
“Baby, shh. I know the cars are loud but I can hear you when you speak normally.”
Yoongi looked around frantically. “I knew we improved quite a bit in the past couple centuries, but this is not at all what I had expected.”
Only moments after they’d gotten off the boat, Yoongi seemed to realize the true journey was only beginning.
Even though Jungkook had done a little too well on the ferry ride, cars seemed to be his breaking point as well.
“I just don’t understand why everyone is moving so fast.” Jungkook whined, pouting in Jimin’s direction. “Where are the trees? Where is the wildlife?”
Taehyung sighed. “Okay, come on. I ordered a taxi to come get us and bring us to mine and Jimin’s apartment.”
Taehyung didn’t think they were quite ready for public transportation.
The four of them waited patiently by the boat ramp for the taxi to come pick them up. That of course, was after Taehyung explained what a taxi was.
Their apartment was the same as it had been a month before when they had left for the island, the book Taehyung had read folded on their coffee table still.
It had only been a month, but it had felt like an entire lifetime.
“Okay, let's start packing…”
They were only really taking their clothes and a few personal belongings along. Jimin didn’t want to risk any electronics being soaked through the boat ride. Everything else was getting shipped over.
Both of them now knew what to expect from the so-called ferry.
Taehyung wandered into his old bedroom with Yoongi close behind.
“There’s not much.” Taehyung said to Yoongi who wrapped his arms around Taehyung’s back, pulling him into his chest. “I already have everything I need back at home.”
“Mhm, and what is that?” Yoongi murmured in Taehyung’s ear.
“My paintings, my camera, my phone… Jungkook.” Taehyung joked and Yoongi pinched his side gently. “You already know you’re the most important part to me.”
Yoongi smiled, his lips grazing Taehyung’s neck. “I know, I just wanted to hear you say it.”
Taehyung turned to face Yoongi, pulling him in and pressing their lips together, kissing him sweetly like had had so many times by then.
Yoongi hummed into the kiss, reaching his hand up to cup Taehyung’s face and hold him as close as possible.
When they broke apart, Taehyung leaned in to kiss Yoongi’s nose. “You know how much I love you, right?”
Yoongi kissed his nose in return. “You love me enough to the point where a god had to bring you back to life just to fix my broken heart.”
Taehyung burst out laughing. “Yeah, I suppose I do.”
They stared at each other adoringly, neither wanting to live another lifetime without the other.
One had been far too long.
But they were okay, Yoongi and Taehyung were okay.
And they would be okay for a very long time to come.
