Chapter Text
"You know, it really is quite funny." The calm tone of the cookie's remark carried itself lightly through the library. "What is?" Blueberry Sorbet Cookie asked, looking at the cookie across from the table he sat at.
The other's eyes shone gently, the iris's mismatched colours giving them a unique charm. Hair, beautiful as a starry night sky, flowed down; it nearly reached the floor. His smile was calm, holding an air of amusement.
"You're always in here, helping out. The cookies here are starting to think you actually work here." The cookie, the Fount of Knowledge, responded. A faint laughter escaped him. Blueberry Sorbet Cookie looked at each detail of the other cookie as he talked. "Really?" He hummed in thought. "...That would be nice, I think. Working here."
"Would it?" The Fount asked, leaning against the table. The closeness between them felt comfortable.
"Yeah, it would. I'd get to see you more." Blueberry Sorbet Cookie paused, noticing the look the Fount of Knowledge wore on his face. The air between grew still.
"Do you really think that?" The Fount of Knowledge searched the other cookie's face. Blueberry Sorbet Cookie mumbled, "Yeah, yeah I do." His fingers twitched, jittery from excitement. The Fount of Knowledge stopped, his searching gaze stopping on Blueberry Sorbet Cookie's eyes. "I— yeah, it would be nice, for you to work here..." He trailed off.
The two went quiet. Blueberry Sorbet Cookie rested his head on his hand, while the Fount shifted awkwardly. The fuzzy silence between them felt like it stretched on for miles.
"So..." the Fount of Knowledge broke the silence. "It's official?" Blueberry Sorbet Cookie lifted his head.
"Yes, it's official."

Blueberry Sorbet Cookie wasn't sure how much time had passed by the time he woke up; there was no sunlight to tell. Through the thick haze of drowsiness, he traced the decorum of the room with his gaze. The remnants of his dream still lingered on his mind.
Judging from how heavy his exhaustion made him feel, he figured he's slept enough. He blinked slowly, and let out an inaudible sigh. He figured he should probably get out of bed. The weight resting on him shifted before he could move. Blueberry Sorbet Cookie stopped dead in his tracks. What he thought to be the weight of the blanket, was the weight of an arm.
Craning his neck to look over, he saw the other cookie sound asleep. Shadow Milk Cookie was laid on his side, his arm draped over Blueberry Sorbet Cookie's waist. He stilled.
Staring at the Beast, his thoughts traveled back to the events of last night. The words he exchanged still felt fresh on his tongue. He replayed those moments, mulling them over. He considered each and every syllable until he grew sick of his own thoughts. Why did he tell him that he’d stay? It felt like a part of him outright refused to accept the fact that this is who his Fount is now.
Shadow Milk Cookie shifted again, pulling Blueberry Sorbet Cookie out of his thoughts. He waited, but the Beast never stirred. He actually seemed at peace. More at peace than he seemed when he was awake. It was a strange sight, but not an unwelcome one. It reminded Blueberry Sorbet Cookie of his Fount.
He settled back into bed, and stared distantly into the void above. He wanted to savour this moment. Because he knew that once Shadow Milk Cookie wakes up, reality would hit him harshly in the face. He shut his eyes.
