Chapter Text
He shoved open the door, tears streaming down his cheeks as he entered the 'hygenic' bathrooms. The sound of people rushing through the halls to lunch quietend.
Graffitied mirrors lined on the wall above mostly broken sinks, and on the opposite, pale blue stalls. The entire bathroom was in ruins. Gum, graffiti, condoms, and general junk littered around the cramped room.
Grian locked himself inside the last stall, pushing the toilet seat down and pulling his legs up.
Sobs were muffled through the prickly fabric of his gray blazer, his face heating up and his uneven breathing shaking his body.
Why couldn't he just be normal?
Salt pricked at his eyes, and his chest seemed to tighten even more than usual.
Every tough gulp was followed by a sharp inhale, breaking the silence in the bathrooms.
A group of girls walked into the bathroom, giggling amongst themselves, and discussing some "life-changing drama."
Grian held his breath, silencing his sobs, and covered his mouth with shaky hands.
Phrases of their conversation echoed in the compact room.
"—dumped you!"
"Is my brow too high? I can't let Mr.Antonio see me like this—"
"Let him feel—"
"So big! Best night yesterday with—"
"Anyone have concealer?"
"Fuckin' hell, I look—"
"Is someone in there?"
Silence.
And now, he could really be fucked.
Shit.
One of the girls outside scoffed.
"It's probably that slut Ariana. Can't believe the school let her into the boys bathroom. Fuckin' whore."
They giggled.
I'm not Ariana. I'm not Ariana. imnotarianaimnotarianaimnotariana.
Hold your tongue. Slut.
I'm not anything.
A girl kicked his stall door.
"Open up, slut!"
They giggled, and Grian recoiled, shuffling himself closer to the wall.
The clique continued their chatter, rambling on and on before the bell finally rang.
The bell, a symbol of obedience.
Force for all to enter classrooms, learn things that'd never help them in this world, and pretend everything was okay for 8 hours.
Until getting home.
The door to the girls bathroom slammed open, and Ms.Crowley yelled at the clique.
"Class time, now! Did you not hear the bell? Get out!"
The girls shuffled away, still giggling, and the door closed.
Finally, peace.
