Chapter Text
His eyes fluttered open. The first thing he saw was the ceiling covered in posters of bands and games he enjoyed. Groggily, Dan Heng arose from his sheets. With a yawn he looked around lazily. He could see all the unopened boxes scattered around. He really needed to get his shit together and go through everything. Or at least move the boxes that weren’t his out of the way. As he slowly became more aware, waking up more, he had no idea how he got in his bed. Last he remembered, he was still at the burger place with.. That’s right, how could he forget about him. He was so flashy. How could anyone forget about him? Dan Heng looked down at his arm where the cut was. It seemed to be healing just fine. Maybe he should clean it again. If he ever found Caelus would he help? He wouldn’t mind having another conversation with him. This time when he’s not exhausted.
Just as he was getting lost in his thoughts, he could hear rapid stomping coming up to his door. The door in question slammed open on impact. A pink haired girl a bit shorter than him took up the frame. She was wearing a white kami that had lace detailing. Over it she wore a pink and blueish checkered flannel and a hefty worn down jacket. For bottoms she had on boring old blue flared jeans. And of course, she was wearing several different jewelry.
“Dan Heng, you're still in bed!? We need to leave in 5!” She blurted. She shuffled back down trying to get her shoe on. They were pink converse with dark blue socks peaking out. “You're going to fall!” Dan Heng warned her. “Don’t worry about me, get ready or else I’m leaving!” She shouted from down stairs. He could hear her still struggling with her shoe.
Dan Heng shifted, his bed creased with the force. What was she talking about, Dan Heng thought, he still has time. He glanced at the clock beside him. It read “07:36 am”. He fought with his blankets in an alarmed manner. He threw his sheets and blankets off of him when he got untangled. He hasn’t overslept since elementary school.
When he woke, everything was so calm and quiet, but now settling into the morning the house awoke. March was hurriedly fixing up breakfast. Ms. Himeko was switching through tv channels as her coffee machine ran. And as for him, he was putting together whatever decent outfit he could create with clean clothes. No time for contacts he needed to go. Same as his hair. It was wild with strands going in different directions.
In a rush he tripped over a stack of books while leaving his room. “Shit” he muttered under his breath. He staggered looking behind him, seeing the mess he created. “C’mon Dan Heng! We’re going to miss the bus!” A voice called for him at the bottom. He swung his backpack on as he raced down the stairs. “Be careful, you're going to fall!” March mocked, she ruffled his hair even more when he came into reach. “Do you want to leave right now or not?” He grumbled trying to pry March’s hand away. With glasses on and wearing a greenish blue sweater, both him and March were out the door. “Have a good day you two!” Ms. Himeko called out before the door fully closed.
Dan Heng huffed up the stairs. His headphone’s wire swung with motion. He just barely made it to school in time for the first bell. On the bus March had promised to fix his hair. This led to his hair looking better, but them almost missing their stop. Dan Heng had to stop her in the middle of her doing one final comb through to get off. He practically dragged her. No way he was being late over something stupid.
Catching his breath from the hefty staircase, he picked up his pace. Gossip flooded his ears from a group of girls leaving the bathroom. Now he wasn’t one to pry, but how could he not? The group was in front of him, walking slower than snails. He paused his music to hear better.
“Dude, did any of you guys hear about the new kid?” “What about them?” “I heard he’s like hella hot, like 2000s older brother typa hot.” “Oh my god finally boys are getting the assignment!” “I bet he looks like Rodrick!” “Goddddd pleasseeeee I need that.” They giggled, smacking their gum as they spoke.
Dan Heng rolled his eyes. Some part of him thought it was going to be gossip about a breakup. At least they were gossiping about someone who sounds like he has personality. Maybe March will want to hear about this. She did tell him to rely any tea he hears in the hall to her. In her words, “You're so quiet no one will notice if you're listening. Or they might even spill everything to you since no one knows who you are.”
The girls turned to another hall, filling it with shrieks of joy, still talking about the new kid. Dan Heng shrugged this interaction off. They get new kids every week. It’s not uncommon in a big school like this. He continued his way to his class, walking in the rhythm of the song he was listening to.
—
1st period had nothing notable to speak of. Having Penacony History 1 first thing in the morning was torture. At least he didn’t have AGS 3 with Mrs. Raun Mei or Physics with Mrs. Herta first. That would give him a headache more than any history class could. His teacher, Mr Gallagher had the sleepiest voice known to man. Half of the class was snoozing as he spoke. Dan Heng was no different. Along with Mr Gallagher's sleepy voice, he also always had the lights off. He said how it reminded him when he used to work late shifts being a police officer. He’s a weird, but wise old man in Dan Heng’s book.
Dan Heng got more comfortable in his plastic seat. None of his table mates were there so he could spread his materials as much as he wanted. He sighed in his hands. Nothing Mr Gallagher was saying was registering to him. He eyed the clock as he drifted into the back of his mind. Now that he was fully continuous, unlike this morning, he could fully process what happened the other night.
One moment he was having the shittyist night of his life, all alone in the shittyist fast food restaurant. Then all of a sudden a silver haired guy comes storming in to help him. He didn’t even need to question; he helped Dan Heng in as soon as he realized he needed some. How could anyone get that face out of their mind with a night like that. Amber eyes with smudged, darkened makeup from the rain looking straight at you. Wet bangs sticking on to him like honey. And his lips. God, was Dan Heng staring? They were a flesh pink with a silver piercing on the side. He wonders what they would feel like on his. Would the piercing feel annoying? Would he like the feeling? He rubbed his sleeve where his wound was. He shivered in response. Why can’t he get this night out of his mind? He should just forget about all that happened. It’s not like he's ever going to see Caelus again, let alone kiss him.
He taps his pencil on his notebook. His eyebrows furrowed. Why does the thought of not ever seeing Caelus again make him feel sad? He doesn’t know him. He was just nice and helped Dan Heng out. Any normal person would do that. He was just overreacting, like usual. Why was it that whenever someone did something nice for him, he couldn’t get it out of his mind. Dan Heng just needed to focus. It’s all in the past. He would remind himself. It’s all in the past. He’s never seeing him again. It was a one time condition where they both happened to be in the same place at the same time, both needing help in different ways. This seemed like the start of that one manga March really likes, what’s it called, Nana? Maybe he should read it. She’s always telling him how good it is.
“Dan Heng, could you tell me why The Family got sued?” Mr. Gallagher slougishly asked.
Shit, he hadn’t been paying attention at all. He needed to say something quickly before he would get called out for not listening. He cleaned his throat, waiting a beat before speaking. “Wasn’t The Family sued for covering up murders that happened in The Dream?” He said half as a statement and half as a question.
“Yes, very good.” He slowly spoke, “However, they were also sued for • • • “ He drowned out the rest of his teachers speaking’s.
‘Dan Heng focus! We have no time to be thinking about manga, or Caelus, or the hot new student!’ He screamed.
Wait. Dan Heng put his pencil down neatly next to his note book filled with no notes. He rubbed his figures through his hair. ‘Dude, did any of you guys hear about the new kid?’ ‘..like 2000s older brother typa hot.’ The girl's voice rang through his mind. ‘I bet he looks like Rodrick.’ Rodrick, who was that again? Oh yes, the older brother in that one Disney movie. Diary of something. He saw it when he was very young however he remembered that character. Baiheng had the biggest crush on him. Would he be crazy if he said it was the same for him? He could see Caelus rocking an outfit similar to the characters. For what he remembers of the movie he had a similar vibe to Caelus. Or at least when he’s goofy hanging out with his younger brother. Wait! Caelus? Could it be that Caelus is the new kid? I mean maybe it would make sense, he was Dan Heng’s age for what he could tell. Wait, does this mean he could maybe see him again?
Dan Heng's mind was playing ping pong. It was jumping from thought to thought. He better calm down or else he’ll get a headache.
‘Don’t get too excited’ he warned himself. ‘They were probably talking about someone else and not Caelus.’ The thought ran through his mind. ‘Your not seeing him again.’
He took notes as a documentary was playing. It was about The Family, how they came into power and how they fumbled. This was just the distraction he needed. No more thinking about the Burger Place. Maybe he’ll just quit. He knew the next time he went in all he would think about was the accident. Sadly he couldn’t do that if he wanted money to move out. Back to the documentary; he thought it was quite interesting, however his classmates thought otherwise. A lot of them were sleeping at this point in the class.
His phone buzzed in his pants. His hand twitched for it. His other hand grabbed it, stopping it. It’s probably some stupid reel from March. All he needed to do right now was just watch the documentary. Why was everything happening to him this morning? Maybe today was karma to yesterday's blessing of a night. He shook his head a little, placing it in his hands. He hoped no one noticed his weird behavior. He went back to taking notes.
Another buzz came from his phone, followed by some more. Whatever March had planned he didn’t want to be a part of. She has already wrapped him up in too many stupid ideas. He took his phone out of his pants and slipped it into his bag. He had a few minutes left. If she really needed him, which he doubts knowing how many friends she has, then she could come and find him.
“Alright class that’s it for today, remember to finish the notes on your own. Everything should be on models.” He gruffed. He took a seat behind his desk, taking a long sip from his coffee mug. How Dan Heng wished he had some right now.
Chairs scratched the floor. Everyone put on their bags, walking towards the door. Dan Heng followed suit. The bell rung shortly after. He was swept into the crowd trying to make it to his next class. He would answer March at lunch when he had a chance.
“Dan Heng!” Speak of the devil. A hand caught his wrist from out of the crowd. He already knew who it was; he didn't have to look behind him. “March, could you please stop texting me during class?” He grumbled. “It was urgent! C’mon we need to go!” “Go where?” His breath caught as March swung in front of him. Several people groaned in response. March was never good at being aware of her surroundings. Still holding on to his wrist, tighter now, she dragged him towards another flight of stairs. They were racing against student bodies. He felt his feet twisting under him. It was only a matter of time before he would trip. “March we have class! Why do you insist on dragging me everywhere with you?” He whined. March just laughed in response. “It’s a surprise you grump! C’mon we need to hurry before we’re caught.” Why did it always have to be him?
The bell rung again. This time it was the final one. They were both now officially late. However they continued to walk deeper into the school. They went to a side of the building he had never been to before. Dan Heng's interest peaked; he couldn't lie. March slowed her pace into more of a jog. Her hand was still tightly grasping his wrist. She had no fear of anyone catching them. She just hummed along as she dragged him. It was a bit creepy, but living with March this was a regular occurrence for him. At least this was a good distraction from Caelus. It wasn't like he was going to learn anything in his next class. He drug his nails into his hand. He knew that all he was going to think about was Caelus if he was in class. Sighing, he started to take in where they were.
There were barely any students, let alone teachers in this area. All the class rooms looked like teachers' personal spaces or study rooms for students. They were small and perfectly fitted for that purpose. The walls had tall windows along them. This floor seemed very peaceful. He never knew why he had never ventured up here. Maybe he’ll start to, but he’ll never tell March that.
They turned the corner and quickly turned back after seeing a couple making out. “Bleh! Why can’t they save it for after school! Like they don’t even care if you catch them. It’s so grosss.” March stuck her tongue out scowling.
“We’re almost there by the way. We just have to take the back way since SOME people decided it was a great time to stick each other's tongues down their throats.” She turned to look at him, giving him a wink.
Dan Heng’s interest was back. “You haven’t told me anything about-“ “sh sh shhhh.” She abruptly interrupted. “Get them wrinkles off your face! You’re going to be fineeee. This will be fun and something new!” March grinned.
She was leading him down a long hallway. This hallway didn’t have any windows but instead art work. This must have been the art floor. Looking at some of the pieces they went back to the 90’s. It left a more eerie feeling rather than the rest of the floor which had a peaceful mood. It felt like the paintings were watching them as they went further in.
When they reached the end there was a single metal door. She let go of his wrist, walking towards the door. He rubbed where she had been holding it following behind her. He found her messing with the lock for a bit. She gave up and just kicked the door. The door shuttered with a loud noise. To their surprise it creaked open after impact. However March played it off like that was supposed to happen. The door very much reminded Dan Heng of the closet door from his work.
Peaking a look, the door leads to a foggy blue sky. March opened the door more. With a bigger view he realized that they were going to the roof. “We can’t go up here. We’ll get in trouble.” He placed a worried hand on her shoulder. “Dude where do you think I’ve been skipping all these years” she laughed, waving his hand off of her. “I keep telling you this, we’ll be so fine!” “What if Hemiko finds out?” He started to eye the other end of the hall, back to where they came from. He should have waved March off from the beginning. He’s so dumb. “Hemiko won’t care as long as we’re ok. She’s like so so chill. Haven’t you ever asked her about her high school life? It was a lot crazier than this.” Hemiko isn’t Dan Heng's real mother; he's never really thought about her younger years. It never really occurred to him to ask. Would it be rude to ask? She doesn’t know about his past when he thinks about it. He was just some random kid she decided to take petty for.
As March was about to slip through the crack, the door slammed shut in their face. They were back being surrounded by darkness. A black gloved hand on the metal door. It belonged to a woman Dan Heng had never seen. She had lilac hair with a purple and black bandana on top framing her bangs. She was wearing a tight fit black turtleneck on top was layered with an apron covered in paint.
“Now where do you think you're going, Ms March, Mr Dan Heng?” Her voice was smooth but stern as she questioned. Her sleepy honey colored eyes stared the two down.
“Mrs Black Sawn! We uhh!” March stumbled away from the door. She pushed Dan Heng back as well. He was clearly frustrated with her. “You see, we lost where we were going! We’ll turn back right now! C’mon Dan Heng!” March’s voice broke as she tried to hide her nerves. “March!” He whispered yelled, “That is the worst lie you have ever told! I knew we were going to get in trouble!” The two shuffled as March pushed him harder away from the door.
“I’m disappointed in you March, you should know your way around by now. You're a junior as well as my student after all.” Mrs. Black Swan said. She grabbed the two of them by their shoulders. “Now if one of you could explain the real reason why you're trying to go to the roof, I may let you go.” She hummed.
“It’s your turn to explain.” Dan Heng eyed her. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't explain why he was brought here. It was a ‘surprise’ as March had stated earlier. “Ughhhh fineeee.” She whined. “You have to stand over there, though! I’m not letting this ruin the surprise.” “We won’t even have a surprise if we both get detention.” They bickered.
“Please, please no fighting you two. Mr Dan Heng, if you would, please stand at the end of the hall while I talk with Ms March.” She smoothly instructed. She let go of him as he pulled March forward. He followed her instructions, giving March space to talk to her. He was glad he didn’t have to do the talking. She intimated Dan Heng a little. How did she know his name? He’s never taken a class with her before. He didn’t even know she was a teacher before this point. He just hoped March would be able to convince her to turn a blind eye. The last thing he needed was getting in trouble.
Why was he even doing this? He could just turn around and walk to class right now. He would probably get less in trouble. Lie and say he was in the bathroom when entering the classroom. Promising to the teacher that he won’t ever do that again. Sitting down to learn about mind numbing numbers and facts he won’t use in the years to come. Nobody batting an eye to him. He would just fade into the background. Boring. His high school life. But maybe that’s not so bad. He hates when life is too loud anyways.
At the end of the hall he can hear Mrs Black Swan laughing about something. Then their eyes caught. Did she know he was watching them? She motioned for him to come back. He froze a bit. He can just walk back, it's ok. But something deep inside him wanted to know what this all was about. He wanted to be a part of something. Maybe that was selfish, but before he would make up his mind his feet were already moving.
“Thank you for waiting Mr Dan Heng.” She began to speak. “I’ll allow for you two as well as the ‘surprise’,” she winked at March, “to use the roof. As long as you promise to not get me in trouble for allowing you to do this.” She stated. Dan Heng was surprised March managed to make her agree to this. “I agree!” March jumped. “Dan Heng, what about you?” She turned to ask. “I don’t even know what I’m agreeing to?” He grumbled. What if this is some horrible thing that he has to be the one to clean up? “You're overthinking this, just say yes. What’s the worst that could happen?” March comforted him.
He sighed. He really was overthinking this simple thing. He looked up to Mrs Black Swan. “I agree.” He laughed a bit to himself. This was all so silly to him. Making a whole big deal about some surprise on the roof. It’s probably just a bird.
“I’m glad I can trust you both. If you get caught by someone else I don’t think I can help you with that.” The two students nodded. “Here’s the key, please don't hit the door next time” She handed it to March then swiftly walked past the two. She disappeared in the darkened hallway. All you could hear were the clicks of her heels.
“Oh my god, who was that?” He spoke when he could no longer hear her heels. “Oh, that’s my art teacher, Mrs Black Sawn. Sometimes I forget she teaches on this floor.” March laughed, scratching the back of her hair. “You forgot? March-“ Dan Heng protested before he was cut off. “Alright! Let’s go see the surprise now! I know you're gonna like it!” She hopped back to the door. The keys jingled in the keyhole before the door opened. March took the liberty of going out first, him following behind.
“Sorry we were so late, someone caught us, but down worry she promised to not tell.” March yelled out to someone. He couldn’t tell who until a familiar figure walked away from a huge boxy machine.
“It’s alright! I’m just happy I get to see y'all again.” The person laughed. His heart dropped. He knew that voice! Could it be true that it was actually him? It wasn’t that surprising, really. You see a lot of the same people around the city. He was just making this a big deal like always.
“Oh my god! Dan Heng! I’m surprised you didn’t run off. March mentioned there was a good chance of you not going with her.” Caelus yelled towards him. Would it be weird for Dan Heng to admit the words were taken out of his mouth? He remembered him. Does he think about him how he thinks about Caelus? ‘Stop, not now mind.’ He cleared his throat. “I- uh..” Shit, why was he nervous? “I was curious. March told me there was a surprise. I’m guessing you're the surprise?” He questioned. Good he found his footing in the conversation. “Bingo! But that’s not all!” March popped out behind him. Bringing her full excitement into the conversation. “HE’S JOINING THE BAND!!” She jumped.
His eyes widened. Dan Heng didn’t know how to react. On one hand he hasn’t thought about the band since March forced him to join. However on the other hand he gets to spend more time with Caelus. Hanging out with Caelus more out weighed the doom and gloom of playing bass for this band.
“Cool.” He gave a thumbs up.
“THATS ALL?? WHERE'S YOUR JOY??? WE CAN FINALLY START THIS BAND DUMBY!! DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW LONG I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY?? WE ALMOST GOT CAUGHT FOR THIS SURPRISE! SHOW A LITTLE MORE EMOTION EMO!!” She exploded. Shaking him until he was all dizzy. Caelus laughed hard in the background. Clutching his stomach in pain from the laugh.
“Please March, trust me, I’m super excited, I’m also just super exhausted.” He pleaded. March unhanded him. “Dan Heng, I swear your soooo ugh! I just don’t know!” She grumbled. He shook his head. He’s unsure of what March is trying to say.
“You guys start going over to those boxes. I’ll be there in a sec. I'm gonna lock the door.” She pointed over to the destination she wanted the two to go towards. There were a multitude of boxes by the railing. Along the floor were rusty pipes and wires. It reminded Dan Heng of what his room used to look like when he moved in.
“Dan Heng, it’s nice to see you again. Did you sleep alright?” Caelus slugged an arm over his shoulders. With another hand he ruffled Dan Heng’s hair. He led him to the spot March told them to wait for her at. Today he was wearing a darker zip up over a yellow shirt. For bottoms he has on baggy jorts. Belts peeking out from under his jacket. His backpack sagged down. It was red with patches and buttons on it. One of them was a trashcan patch. Another pin was the album cover of Fever To Tell by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
“Eh, the sleep was fine. Sorry I don’t remember much after we cleaned.” He huffed. He brought his hand up to fix his own hair. “It’s all good don’t worry! There’s nothing to note. You passed out in the car when we got in.” He paused. A light pink tint peaked from his ears. Did he remember something embarrassing? “Uh anyways, March asked me to join the band and today I told her I would join!”
“Hm. I’m happy you're joining. If it was just me and March I think I would go crazy.” “Wahhhh? March is so cool though!?” Dan Heng seated himself on a box as Caelus chose the floor. He leaned his back on the box Dan Heng was currently seated on. “Not when you're her sibling.” He sassed. “Hey! Are you talking about me? It better be about how cool I am!” She sat on the other end from the boys. “Heh it was, don't worry!” Caelus placed a hand over his mouth before Dan Heng could protest.
“Alright then we can now start the band's first official meeting!” She announced proudly puffing up her chest. Caelus wooed and clapped. “Is that the reason you dragged me here? He sighed, “We could have done this after school.” He crossed his arms protectively. “Boo!!” Caelus laid his head on the box to look at him. “Isn’t today your first day here? You're ruining your reputation.” Dan Heng’s voice had a hint of concern in it. “This is gonna be way more fun than anything those dusty books have for me.” Caelus shrugged, turning back to March. “Yea Dan Heng, you could have left when I was talking to Mrs. Black Swan.” He sighed. They were both right.
Seeing as he was staying, March continued. “As it is our first meeting we should go over the basics, let’s all go around in a circle and introduce ourselves, I’ll go first!” She proclaimed. “This is stupid.” “Sh! Heya! I’m March! I’m that grump's cool sister and I’ll be the drummer of the band. I also will be taking photos and doing the marketing for this band. Caelus you're up next!” She explained. Dan Heng only just rolled his eyes, focusing on Caelus instead of her. “Hey! I’m the galactic baseballer aka Caelus! I’ll be on guitar and vocals! Thank you for having me!” The excitement was oozing out of him. “Dan Heng it’s your turn.” March pushed. “Uhh, hi I’m Dan Heng. I’ll be playing the bass.” He flatly introduced himself. “That’s it!?” March's mouth fell. He grumbled, “What do you mean, I did what you asked.”
“Ugh whatever. Ok now that we got intros out of the way we should discuss a band name, practice time, and uhhh songs! Anyone have any ideas for names?” The whole group paused trying to think of a possible name.
Caelus opened his bag searching for something. Dan Heng and March watched as he grabbed out a note book and pencil. “Might as well jot down what we’re thinking. Maybe it’ll be useful for later.” “Smart thinking Caelus!” March winked.
“Now for the name…. The pixels!” “That sounds too close to Pixies.” Dan Heng deadpanned. “Oh oh!” Caelus piped up, “The raccoons!” “Ew no.” She gagged. “Then what about the Trashcan!” “What is with you and this raccoon theme” March mused. “Trashcans sounds like Garbage. People might think we’re copying.” He said straight faced. “Dan Heng, you know Garbage? I knew I liked you. What's your favorite of theirs? Mine is "I Think I’m Paranoid." “Hold on there’s a band named Garbage?” She blurted. Caelus smugged, “March March March.. you have much to learn, I’ll send you my playlist later. Now Dan Heng, what's your fav?” He sighed, “Sleep Together.” “Ooo hot.” He pointed finger guns at the other. “What’s that supposed to mean?” “Guys we’re getting off topic! We need name ideas, not song recommendations!”
The group then went on to blurt out random names, Caelus writing them all down even if Dan Heng said it sounded similar to another band. “UGHHHHH WE HAVE NOTHING GOOD!!!” March scratched her hair. “I still like Rocket Train.” Caelus circled the ones that sounded best on the notebook.
“I can’t think anymore! Someone risk it by going back to get food!” She pleaded with her head in her hands. “You're the one who dragged us up here, get it yourself.” Dan Heng looked up from his book. “You should get it, you're not even helping!” “Hell no”
“Fine! Then come up with a name!” March challenged. The other was too petty to let her get the best of him. Even if they are fighting over something stupid. “The Continuum because we are continuing to be stupid.”
“Wait, I actually like that one.” Caelus scribbled it down in his notebook. “I was being silly, Caelus, it wasn’t meant to be serious.” He huffed. He looked back at March who had a big grin on her face.
“THATS THE ONE! THATS SOUNDS SO COOL! LIKE WERE CONTINUING ON A JOURNEY WITH OUR MUSIC!! OH EM GEE DAN HENG I'M SORRY FOR ALL THE TIMES I CALLED YOU AN ASSHOLE!!!” March sparked up to hug him. She squeezed him tightly in her arms. “March please!” He tapped her arm. He could barely breathe in her embrace. “Wait, I want in on this too!” Caelus joined on top of March in the bear hug. “Please guys it was the first thing at the top of my head.” The two slowly pulled away, allowing Dan Heng space.
“Now we can start planning songs! What’s the type of vibe- “ March was cut off by a whining Caelus. “Cannn we get foood firstttt. All that thinking made me hungry. I think it should be first lunch by now.” His stomach growled, as well as everyone else’s. “I second this.” Dan Heng grabbed his bag.
“WAITTTT!!” March scrambled to her bag. She pulled out a bright blue Polaroid camera. “We need something to remember this good meeting by!” She pulled Caelus to her side who laughed in response. “C’mon Dan Heng! You're a part of this band too.” Caelus cried for him to join.
Dan Heng stood for a second but only a second. He joined them soon after. This is unusual for him. Things like this don’t interest him. But his curiosity got the best of him. He wants to see where this will lead him.
Click!
“Super cutie!! I took a few extras you guys can keep. Oh! Caelus hand me your notebook and some pens.” Caelus broke away from the group to fetch his notebook and pencil case. He gave it to March who placed it on a box to use as a table. The two boys crouched down beside her, wondering what she was doing. March unzipped the pencil case taking out a big marker. On the cover of the note book she wrote in big words ‘The Continuum’. She flipped open to the first page and began looking in the pencil case once again. This time she pulled out a glue stick and glued the Polaroid of all of them on the page. She took the pen once again and added the date.
“There! Isn’t it so cute! We’ll use this notebook for ideas for the band! Caelus is it ok if I take it home to decorate it a bit? You can do the same when I’m done.” March sequeled with happiness. “Of course I don’t mind.” He brushed it off, collecting his pencil case to return it to his backpack.
“Is there anything else we want to discuss before we leave?” Dan Heng questioned while putting his own backpack on. “Let’s meet after school so then we can get equipment and mics!” She informed the group. “I got a friend that we could probably borrow stuff from, she wouldn’t mind.”Caelus added. “Ok great! That means we can save more! When we’re out we can talk about practice.” “Yaaayyy!! Ok let’s go, I'm starving!” Caelus dramatically held his stomach and fell to the ground. March giggled, “Caelus be careful you're going to scrap your knees!” Dan Heng ran up to join them. He smiled watching them both.
This was a good surprise.
