Chapter Text
Orientation day. The day I most dreaded. Not that it was bad, or anything, but it signified the start of a new school year, which is always dreadful.
I strode into the assembly hall, yawning. Another thing I hated about orientation day. They made us all arrive on campus at 7 am, supposedly so we would have enough time to find our dorms, drop off our bags, and hang out with friends before the morning assembly at 8:15. In my opinion, that's way too early to be at school on the first day. Then again, I’m not much of an early bird.
As I took my seat in the auditorium, I caught a glimpse of a guy around my age. He had hair a little past his shoulders, and looked a little familiar. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell who he reminded me of.
As the auditorium filled up, the principal stepped onto the stage. He began to speak, but I zoned out. After two and a half long hours of sitting around, the assembly ended, and people began to stand up. I did too, and ran straight out of the auditorium to my dorm. As soon as I got in, I shut the door and lay on my bed, curled into the fetal position. The rest of the day would be free, and so I got to stay in my room all the time I wanted.
There was a knocking at the door, and I groaned. What did the houseparents want now? I reluctantly slid off my bed, and walked over to the door. As I opened it, the same face I had seen before the assembly greeted me, except now I could see his face better now.
“Reef?”
“Theo?!”
