Chapter Text
Red Hood slipped into the Titan's tower easily. So easily he wondered if the Titans were really that formidable of a force all together. Red Hood was here on a mission of sorts. It was time to pay a little bird a visit. His replacement was due for a good beating…
He had done his research. Tim Drake was the kid's name. Taken over the Robin mantle after his untimely demise… Bruce had done nothing to stop it. To stop another child soldier from being born. So Jason was going to teach them both a lesson they wouldn't soon forget. He felt the pit rage beneath his skin, burning and boiling at a simmer. Waiting to explode outward. Soon, he promised.
Creeping slowly through the hallways he finally found where his replacement was hiding.
Robin's back was to him. Jason stepped through the doorway and Robin froze, swiftly turning around and crouching into a battle stance. Jason's eyes flared with green and he had a feral grin as he reached for his helmet.
“Red Hood.” Tim voiced, full of venom.
“Oh so you know who I am then?” Hood taunted.
Tim glared, “Batman warned me about you.”
“What exactly did Bruce tell you, replacement?” Jason spat out.
Tim sucked in a sharp breath and his eyes grew wide and fearful, “Who..?”
“Who am I?” Jason taunted, “Don't you know who you replaced?”
His replacement's breathing picked up drastically. Good. Jason wanted the little bird scared.
“No… no you died.” Tim whispered.
Jason pulled his helmet off and threw it to the ground, his hair falling down just above his eyes.
“What's wrong little bird? You look like you've seen a ghost.” Jason sneered.
Tim's eyes darted up to Jason's and their eyes met just as they blinked and then- then they weren't looking at each other anymore. Then they were looking at themselves.
Jason's view was watery, tears welling up. Tim's was green. Too green. Too much all at once and he couldn't help but blink. In an instant the moment was over and they were back to themselves.
Jason choked as the pit inside him mellowed out and clear thinking returned, “You-”
Tim's eyes welled up, “I'm sorry. I'm so sorry… I didn't know you were back- I- I had no visions. Nothing since before you died! If I had… I'm so sorry Jason.”
Jason's legs felt weak, “I… you're my soulmate?”
His replacement nodded, “We used to go to galas together… my parents never let me talk to you though.”
“Thats fucking stupid.” Jason blurted out.
Tim laughed wetly, “Yeah, it is.”
Silence lapsed.
Jason weakly sat down on the floor, “I… I was going to kill you.”
“You were… why?” Tim asked as he sat down across from him.
“I think- I think being resurrected by the Lazarus pit fucked with my head.” Jason whispered.
Tim sucked in a breath, “Yeah, that would do it. Do you wanna kill me now?”
“No,” Jason quickly answered, “No, I'm just- mad. It feels overwhelming.”
His soulmate nodded, “I would be to if I came back from the dead to see someone in your uniform.”
Jason wrinkled his nose, “No, it's- it's not that. It's just that Bruce let some other kid in danger again. That fucking clown killed me. It makes me livid to think Bruce let that happen again.”
Tim tilted his head, “But Bruce didn't have a choice?”
Jason frowned, “What?”
Tim shrugged, “After you… died, Batman kinda lost it? He went nuts. He almost killed people with sheer brute force. So I made myself Robin. At the time it was to honor you since, y'know, I had known it was you. Bruce certainly tried though.”
Jason just stared at Tim, “Seriously? What'd you do, steal the suit?”
“Yeah, but I gave it pants.” Tim snickered.
Jason snorted, “Dick was the one who didn't want pants, I was just an unfortunate casualty.”
Tim groaned, “Oh great now that you're back I'm gonna have to suffer through death jokes aren't I?”
Jason hesitated, “Do… you want me back?”
“Why wouldn't I?” Tim frowned.
“I've killed people," Jason said bluntly.
Tim's mouth opened in an ‘o’ shape, “I see… I don't think that's enough to push you away though, in my opinion.”
Jason raised an eyebrow, “What about Bruce?”
Once again, Tim shrugged, “You've been my soulmate longer than I've been his Robin. I choose you, every time. I don't think you know how much those visions meant to me…”
Jason gave a weak smile, “I could say the same.”
“I saw the timer.” Tim whispered quietly.
He sucked in a sharp breath, “I'm sorry.”
“You don't have to be,” Tim offered.
“Seeing your world while I was stuck in that fucking hell hole was everything to me.” Jason admitted.
Tim hummed in acknowledgement.
Jason glanced over to Tim, “My last wish was to see through you again.”
His other half met his eyes and once again their vision switched. Jason saw himself, eyes a little too green and face looking worn out. Tim saw his red rimmed eyes. They blinked.
