Em uma tarde chuvosa, Andrew adota Lucas, um garoto tímido e traumatizado. No orfanato, Lucas hesita, mas o segue. No ônibus, adormece no ombro do novo pai. Em casa, ao lado de Andrew, Lucas finalmente sorri.Miguel, 15 anos, chega em casa e encontra o pai violento ameaçando a mãe com uma faca. Ele intervém corajosamente para protegê-la. Após um confronto, ele e a mãe fogem pela janela e o pai é preso.
Leifr, sobrecarregado após a morte do pai, busca fugir. Ele segue uma raposa na nevasca e encontra uma barreira mágica que protege um mundo de dragões. Ele decide voltar para investigar, mas o frio e o medo o vencem. No dia seguinte, só restam rastros de sangue na neve.
Lucas e Guilherme são sugados por um portal ao abrirem um livro. Um bruxo exige três itens para o retorno. Após acharem dois, Lucas se afoga tentando encontrar o terceiro em um lago. O bruxo reaparece e revela que Lucas era o sacrifício.

Yes, Matt and Foggy will eventually end up together romantically. All in due time. I'll change the rating to mature eventually. Right now, the main theme centers around the father-son dynamic. There will have to be a POV switch away from Jack at some point.
