For anko she saw herself in the boy. And saw the chance, to give him the life she always wished she had For Hiruzen a chance that his final legacy won't be one of failure. Mito, Narumi, and Naruto were triplets born on the night of the Nine-Tails’ attack. In a desperate bid to save the village, Minato sealed one half of the Nine-Tails into Mito and the other half into Narumi. Sometime later, Jiraiya returned with a prophecy delivered by the Elder Toads—one that spoke of great calamity and salvation. Believing the prophecy referred to their children, Minato and Kushina made a painful decision.
Not heeding to Hiruzen’s warnings, they chose to leave the village for several years, taking Mito and Narumi with them to train. He couldn’t let that happen to them. This system had already screwed them over. The people who were supposed to care for them had done the opposite.
Kakashi wasn’t going to be another adult who let these kids down.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen. And maybe I’ll only make things worse…” Kakashi murmured softly to the framed photo at his bedside. “…But I have to try.”
He had too. Or these pups were as good as dead.
OR: Kakashi realizes how bullshit it is that Team Seven was even a team in the first place, and does things differently. Screw Hiruzen for putting him in this position.
