Summary
Back then, the Watchers were seen as benevolent deities. Blessing the people with life and joy.
But that was five years ago.
Suddenly, the Watchers had turned. They weren’t as benevolent as they were before. Their blessings turned into curses as the world rotted into destruction and despair.
Grian, currently suffering from a strange case of amnesia, wakes up in the midst of this destroyed world. With a vague note and an eccentric man named Scar, Grian traverses across the land in order to find a way to completely restore his own memory.
Martyn and his two companions, Pearl and Scott, search for freedom. For a place that isn’t the desolate land they are trapped in. The only thing blocking their path is a field of dangerous traps, and their unwillingness to trust each other.
The two groups meet, and whilst finding the answers to many of their questions, they discover that their fates may be more intertwined than they could have ever imagined.

Ren looks up, mouth making an ‘o’ shape before looking back down, locking eyes with Pearl, “And who would this ‘Someone special’ be?” he asks, chuckling, a huge grin on his face, ears perching up, tail swishing behind him.
“I’ll give you some hints.” she says, wetting her lips, holding up her hands, counting on her fingers, “well, he’s tall, very handsome, with long brown hair.” he says, pointing at a finger for every point, “he’s got a smile that lights up the world, and is the best boyfriend a girl could ask for.”
Ren raises an eyebrow, “Oh, and what would his name be?” he asks, stepping forward, standing directly under the mistletoe with Pearl, smiling.

The sky is not so stable underground. Every so often, the tunnels that make up Scar and Pearl's homes collapse, and the people who live in the labyrinth must start anew as the halls are re-dug by the bugs that live alongside them.
It's dangerous, underground. It's not advised to try and live out here alone.
Scar feels out of place at home, and seeks out company in the dark. Pearl has no choice but to kick it by herself, and she's finding it difficult to trust her new companion after all she'd been through.

Especially since the main cause of mishappenings is centered around the high school-- which is split down the middle. Half Hermit High, half Akademi High School. But more importantly, it's where Grian is two months deep into his junior year of high school.Pearl's girlfriend, Gem, says it's dangerous. She lives on the island, and she went to the school. But really, just how dangerous could one high school be?
TL;DR: Pearl the detective is trying to find out what's going on in Akademi High School and save her brother before it's too late-- for all of them.
