Problems arise when Yelena realizes that her carefully, constructed façade to protect herself is slowly being stripped away as she falls deeper and deeper into infatuation with her fake boyfriend Bob. Only she could screw it up this well.
Bob’s broke, plain and simple, so when a beautiful and mysterious woman asks him to be her fake boyfriend for a week and a good chunk of cash, who is he to say no? The situation only devolves when he realizes that his feelings for her extend beyond what they should, and knowing that she doesn’t deserve to be on the receiving end of, well, him, he begins to pull away to spare her from the void within him. Following the ill-fated holiday in Broadchurch, Zee finally engages a therapist to help her work through the lingering trauma of her time with Kilgrave. In particular, she hopes to rebuild the fulfilling sexual relationships she had before, but that will take time and effort, and her new therapist Doctor Scott encourages her to begin from the foundations to build upwards; going back to the start and viewing her relationships through the new perspective she has now, rather than simply yearning for what she once had. Step by step, she finds her way back, proving a handful for her therapist along the way.
Zee is not the only one impacted by the trauma of interactions with the mind-controlling doppelganger though, and her friends and partners find themselves exploring new angles in their relationships with each other too, with fresh dynamics emerging, and lots of new experiences.
Ultimately, love and friendship is what holds them all together. And as they celebrate Aziraphale's birthday, Christmas, and later Zee's birthday, there is enough fun, romance, and joy to heal them all.

“Buck, what exactly do you want?” he asks, brow furrowed with confusion, and Buck’s nervous shuffling increases tenfold, his smile completely gone now.
“Right. Um. I... I was wondering if maybe you’d be willing to, um... to fake date me.”
