“Whatever happened to you, whatever you’ve done, you’re still my sister.” From the moment their parents died, Abolish sacrificed his childhood for Birdie. Again and again, he would offer his hand to her so long as she’d take his bloodied palm.
The last living Veylockes didn’t expect to find themselves trapped in rundown Oakhurst with deadly creatures killing townsfolk, but their survival now depends on the outcome of everyone. Because Birdie won’t let Abolish die, no matter what she must become. And Abolish is willing to die for Birdie, after he kills everyone in their path.
When who they are and who they need to be to survive are two very different people, the siblings begin to hide the things they’ve done to protect each other.

The noise of the city drowned out his pained breaths. Pedestrians walked by, laughing joyously with their friends, cars drove by, their stereos blasting the latest hits, and around the corner, a party was in full swing at a local bar, party goers dressed to the nines under the neon lights. Overhead, the lone outdoor light flickered sporadically, the buzzing sound indistinguishable from the old, abused wiring or the multitude of insects that fluttered overhead. Passerbyers paid no mind, too wrapped up in their own lives, not once sparing a glance at that little nook in the wall.

Despite a widespread belief to the contrary that he had taken years to cultivate, Scott was nowhere near as ditzy and airheaded as he appeared. When he followed Pyro and Owen into the woods at night without any weapons on him, he was doing so while being fully aware of his cicerones’ lack of humanity. It just so happened that he liked his odds with them better than with those peasants back in the village who’d accused him of murder after he’d lost sight of Shelby for a couple of hours.
That said, he would have preferred it if they hurried along their little fang-measuring contest, because with the sun still buried deep beyond the horizon, the air was incredibly chilly. It didn’t help that they were on a small island in the middle of a lake, so he was wet as well.
Where was Abolish when he needed a handsome butler to roughly wrap a jacket around his shoulders and complain that he’d lose his job if he died?
