Chapter Text
Albus Dumbledore, who had faked his own death by having a golem dive off the Tower at Hogwarts, and be buried with great ceremony, was about to spring his greatest "surprise victory".
When he, to all appearances "returned from the dead", now that Harry had sacrificed himself, and weakened Voldemort, making him mortal again, Albus could swan in and "save the day", as the destroyer of a second Dark Lord. Of course his first, being his one true love, had not been destroyed, but THAT was a great secret.
Having felt the chaotic magical echos of the wizard war die out and not resume, Albus knew his plan had succeeded. It was too bad that Harry had to die to make his plan work, but Fate would not be denied.
He had saved a small number of his favorite eye-watering robes, for his return, and to tide him over until he could have more made, from the proceeds of the Potter vaults.
He would have preferred to have the Eldar Wand, but he was satisfied that as long as Voldemort did not wield it with its allegiance, he could 'take' him.
He apparated to the area of the gates of Hogwarts, expecting to find them down along with the wards, and he did find them damaged, but the wards were still up. How did that happen?
He saw damage as he had expected, but where he expected to see student and staff bodies scattered around, with a few DEs among them, he found the grounds had been cleaned if not repaired.
His attempt to Apparate directly into the Great Hall failed! Someone had reconfigured the wards to deny HIM privileged access!
So wand in hand, he began to walk from the gates, hanging half open, to the school.
He had arrived at what should have been lunch hour, had the school been operating, but he did not expect to find the students who remained, assembled and eating, even plain fare. But that was what he found.
He looked around for the Dark Lord he was to battle, and found nothing, except student faces, some shocked, many angry, none happy with his "return from the dead" to 'save the day'.
As he stood in consternation, there was a faint footstep behind him and he was addressed "Hello, Dumbleschmuck!".
Spinning around he intended to stun whoever it was, but his wand, and indeed, his backup wand, and his portkeys all flew from him, some of them ripping pieces of his beard out of his face.
Standing there he was shocked to see Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Draco Malfoy, and in the front and center, of all people Luna Lovegood!
"Looking for a fight, Dumbleschmuck?" the lilting voice of Luna asked him. "You won't need these toys any more, Voldemort and all his minions are gone."
Then Harry Potter addressed him. "Wondering why I am not dead Albus my bane?"
"Well for starters, your plan was full of holes, all along the way. So I didn't bother to die for YOUR 'Greater Good', I have better things to do before I see my parents again, like have a life."
"Luna, you are OK with what we talked about before Schmuck here made his appearance?" asked Harry.
"Of course, Harry, we shall give him a couple of foretastes of Hell before he gets the real thing."
With a snap of her fingers a bubble of something, raw magic (?) surrounded Albus for a few seconds, and when it disappeared a thoroughly battered, bruised, and scarred, body fell to the ground.
"I told you, since time runs differently in pocket dimensions, that we would not have to wait 20 years for the end of Albus' 20 years in Durzkaban as you Harry."
Then she snapped her fingers again and the cursed carving of "Mudblood" actually separated from Hermione's arm, and began wrapping itself around Dumbledore's feet, replicating itself as it wrapped his entire body, stripping any remnants of his beard and hair in the process.
"Yes, I do think that is appropriate," Luna remarked. "Now to summon his minions" and another snap brought Molly Weasley, Percy Weasley, Fudge, Umbridge, Grindelwald, and others, who either supported or opposed Albus, but whose actions kept him in power.
"This time let there be no ambiguity, I curse each and all of you with Cosmic Consciousness," and again a finger snap.
"And now to your just rewards. Albus will lead, and the rest of you will follow." and a final finger snap, and they were gone.
Hermione, who had not heard the previous discussions between Luna and Harry, now spoke up.
"Where did you send them, and can we be sure they can't come back?"
Lune smiled her beautiful smile and shook her head.
"Hermione, do you know what 'Sagittarius A *' is?"
"Of course, that is the Black Hole at the center of our galaxy."
"And what can escape that, once it has passed the event horizon?"
Hermione's face paled and a look of absolute horror came over it.
"That's right, gentle Hermione, nothing."
"With the curse I placed on them every component of themselves is now sentient, and even as they are rendered into things beyond our imagination, they will remember, and the will experience falling, forever."
"Now I have an assignment for you, Hermione. Convince the boy you love, and that everyone else knows loves you, to get his head on straight, and talk to you, because now he, and you, have a future."
Taking that as her cue, Hermione grabbed Harry's head and laid a mighty snog on him, and almost everyone there to see it cheered, as did many in the great hereafter.
