Chapter Text
Trina woke in the morning a bit passed nine. She forced herself to sit up in bed and quickly noticed how empty the room felt. It was then that she noticed Cordelia was, infact, not there. Charlotte was already awake, sitting at her desk with noise cancelling headphones on.
She got out of bed, grabbing a simple white blouse and long, light pink skirt. Trinas mother had always made her dress modest and nowadays she was far too scared to change the style she had grown up with out of fear that it'll look bad on her. She changed quickly, glad that Charlotte seemed to be in her own little world.
She looked at the small alarm clock on her desk, noting that she had about an hour before her first class. It was then that she noticed Charlotte had taken her headphones off and was now stretching her back.
"Morning." Trina said calmly, she hadn't talked much with her the previous day, but she felt like she was a good person. "Do you have any idea where Cordelia went? I wasn't expecting her to be gone so early."
"She's at class already. She's definitely an early bird, I honestly don't know how she does it. Just the thought of having to wake up at eight thirty for class just sounds exhausting."
Trina chuckled at that, nodding her head in agreement. "Ha, tell me about it, it's crazy how some people can just function so early in the morning, it makes no sense."
The two made some light conversation before they both went back to their own tasks. Charlotte put her headphones back on and went back to studying well Trina grabbed her bag that was filled with her books, pens, phone and other random necessitys before heading out the dormroom, hoping for some fresh air.
She stepped outside, a light breeze hitting her. It was refreshing in a way as she began to walk through the slightly crowded courtyard. As Trina was walking she quickly saw Marvin leaning against a tree with his hands in his pockets, he seemed to be waiting for someone.
Trina quickly walked over, planting a soft kiss on his cheek as she reached him. He looked over at her, a slightly startled look on his face. She titled her head ever so slightly up to meet his gaze, smiling warmly at him.
Marvin smiled back, but it didn't quite meet his eyes. They hadn't seen each other in almost two weeks. Whenever Trina tried to hang out with him or go on dates he would give some excuse that he was busy packing stuff for college or there was family drama. Trina would always get a gut feeling that something was wrong but she would always push it away, but the way Marvin smiled, the forced look behind it, it sent trinas mind into overdrive.
Her hand moved from her side to the star of David necklace around her neck, fiddling with it quietly. She had a habit of doing it when she got nervous but Marvin had this way of brushing it off. They stood there awkwardly for a moment before Marvin turned his head away. He spoke calmly, but there was this edge to his voice. "So, uh, how are your new roommates?"
Trina pulled away slightly, wanting to give Marvin his space. "They are really nice, Charlotte sees rather quiet and she's quite literally always studying, I think she's studying to become a doctor. And there's also Cordelia, she talks a lot, but she seems nice, what about you?"
Marvin seemed to freeze slightly at the mention of himself, but he quickly brushed it of, going back to his calm demeanor. "Well you remember whizzer, right? Apparently he's also going to this college, it was a nice surprise, we definitely had lots of catching up to do."
"Whizzer, well that's a lucky surprise. Weren't you two like best friends in high school?"
"Yeah, I missed the dude, don't even remember why we stopped hanging out but I'm glad it was him. It's definitely better then having to be with total strangers, no offense to yours though."
"None taken"
"Anyways, I've got to head to class but I'll see you around, babe."
And with that he gave her a quick kiss on the forehead before walking away. Trina blushed, missing the affection the second it was gone. She carried on with her journey, heading to her first class of the day, communications.
---
The class passed quickly, mostly just the professor talking about themself, what to expect from the class, and then eventually doing ice breakers and all that fun stuff.
Trina sighed deeply as she exited the classroom, a small weight of anxiety leaving her. She had about an hour to pass before her english class. She walked through the courtyard again, trying her best not to run into anybody because of how crowded it was.
Apparently Trina wasn't as good at getting through crowds as she thought she was as she eventually ran into somebody. As Trina looked up she immediately recognized the blond curls as Cordelia turned around. The woman's face instantly brightened at the sight of Trina.
"Hi Trina!" Cordelia said, her voice sounding far more enthusiast then what Trina was used to. "You were just in class right? How was it?"
"Well, It was alright to I guess. The professor seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but here and kept talking about all the places around the world he went to and then made us do this awful icebreaker. I really dont like icebreakers, they just are so awkward, you know?"
Cordelia laughed, Trina didn't know at what, she hadn't thought she said anything funny, but oh well. "That's so relatable, I swear the professors get some sick joy out of seeing a bunch of young adults being forced into some random activity. Anyways, your heading to the dormroom right? Wanna walk together?"
Trina nodded and the two quickly began walking down the path to the dorms. The adventure back somehow seemed easier, quicker, maybe because Cordelia was talking her ear off about all the things she plans on cooking for class. Trina didn't mind though, she liked listening, she would also occasionally give her suggestions on things to make and Cordelia seemed genuinely grateful.
By the time they reached the dorm Cordelia seemed to be out of breath from the nonstop talking. Trina chuckled softly to herself as the woman basically collapsed on to her bed, grabbing her phone from
her bag.
Trina sat down at her own desk, grabbing her earbuds and turning on one of her true crime podcasts, a guilty pleasure of hers as she read one of her many books.
