Chapter Text
Thorin opened his eyes, the sun was shining through his eyelids. He was outside in the garden, and the bench was the place where he spent the night, thinking about what happened the night before. He stood up, back aching from the uncomfortable position he spent hours in. He walked over to the door and slowly opened it, entered inside. It was quieter than usual, no Frodo jumping on him and begging to play, no husband kissing his cheek and no sound in the kitchen, no sound in the kitchen? How long has he slept for?
He entered and closed the door behind him, he took off his shoes and started to slowly walk through the hall, glancing into the kitchen to see that there were some dishes thankfully, that meant that the hobbits ate. The next room was the parlour, the place where he would most likely find Frodo, he took his courage and stepped in there, and he did find Frodo, but not Bilbo. He stared at the small boy playing with his toys that Bifur gifted. When Thorin tried to carefully walk closer the floor creaked, making Frodo quickly turn around. When he saw that the man standing there was Thorin he jumped up, backing away with whines, gripping his toy.
Thorin’s eyebrows slightly furrowed and he felt the pressure in his throat he hasn’t felt for years, his own kid who he was supposed to protect with his life was terrified of him. Thorin leaned down onto his knees to ease Frodo’s fear at least somehow
“Frodo…im sorry…”
“I do not know why i did that last night…It’s just that Dada’s…”
He mumbled out, he never called himself dad or daddy for it was too soft for him, but it was needed now
“Dada’s life hasn’t been so good before…i love you but i just…”
Before he could finish Frodo launched himself at him, still trembling from fear but trusting and hoping that Thorin wouldn’t hurt him again. And he didn’t, he wrapped his hands around him, caressing his back
“Im sorry…im so sorry…”
He whispered, voice trembling and tears forming onto his eyes. He sighed, hugging Frodo tighter and closing his eyes, making a pair of tears roll out
They stayed together like that for a while before Thorin stood up, Frodo still in his arms
“Where is dad..?”
He asked softly, not wanting to scare Frodo again
“In the book room…”
Frodo whimpered, the study of course, Bilbo spent most of his time there when he needed time to think and wind off. Thorin carried Frodo with him into the study, gently opening the door and seeing his husband in the chair
“Not now Frodo, dad is working”
“Bilbo”
Bilbo seemed to stiffen, he turned around to see thorin holding their scared child. He jumped out of his chair and quickly went for Frodo, thinking that he might be in the dwarves arms against his will but when he reached out to take him, Frodo moved closer to Thorin and gripped his beard. Bilbo seemed to ease a bit, Thorin was okay with Frodo again but what about Bilbo? Moving his eyes From Frodo’s to Thorin’s he saw the tiredness in them, they were hooded and darker than usual
“Im sorry…”
Thorin sighed out, seeing Bilbo’s eyes tear up felt worse than anything
“I don’t know what happened to me…you know that i would never hurt you or Frodo but I remembered the stone and…”
Thorin sighed, looking away due to not bearing Bilbo’s look. Fortunately he heard the hobbit walk closer and felt how he hugged him too, Frodo and Bilbo did have something similar with the quick forgiving and hugging. Thorin kissed Bilbo’s head, taking a deep breath of his hair
“I… I believe you”
Bilbo whined out, hugging the three of them all closer together

The day went on more softer, Thorin spent more time with Frodo and by the evening everything was back to normal. Frodo went to sleep listening to Thorin’s lullabies and cuddling his arm
When Thorin managed to slip out of Frodo’s grip he went into the bedroom to Bilbo. They both cuddled together as Bilbo told to him about the thing he has found in one of the books, a disorder that left the carrier traumatised, and it was no surprise that Thorin had it after everything that has happened in his life, especially during the adventure into the misty mountains.
