When I forgot your love

Chapter 15: Lingling Tries to Get Close Again

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

After staying in the hospital for more than half a month, Orm was finally able to leave.

On the day she was discharged, several friends and relatives came to pick her up, so the room was quite lively.

When Ying walked in, Orm was standing beside the bed packing her things. Two suitcases were beside her.

The moment she saw Ying, Orm immediately put down what she was doing and walked over.

That day she was wearing a blue-and-white sweater. Her hair was tied into two low ponytails, and several small crystal hairpins decorated her head.

She looked very young and pretty.

During those days in the hospital, Ying had almost always seen her wearing a patient’s uniform. For a moment, seeing her like this made Ying feel as if she was looking at the high school girl who used to follow her during freshman year.

“Sister Ying, you came!”

Orm was genuinely surprised. Her doctor had told her that the dental clinic would be very busy that day and that Ying would have many patients.

She didn’t expect Ying to still find time to come say goodbye.

Ying snapped out of her thoughts, gently patted Orm’s head, and smiled.

“Today you’re being discharged. How could I not come to see you off?”

On the side, Love discreetly nudged Milk and whispered:

“Is it really okay to let her touch her like that?”

Milk’s eyes were fixed on Ying’s hand.

Hearing the question, she gritted her teeth and replied in a low voice:

“Of course there’s a problem! But… what can we do now?”

Love glanced sideways at Milk and saw her eyes narrowed with a slightly fierce expression.

Love: “…”

Suddenly she remembered that the afternoon before, Milk had sent her another message asking for help.

She was worried about leaving Orm with other people.

Love had thought about it for a long time before agreeing.

Milk might be a bit clumsy, but she truly cared about Orm.

This time, she would do everything she could to help her.

“Orm, it’s time to go,” Love suddenly said.

At that moment Orm and Ying were talking.

Love stepped between them and interrupted what Ying was about to say.

“Already leaving?”

Orm turned her head and looked at the bedside table.

On top of it was an enormous stack of books.

That was why she had two suitcases—one of them was almost entirely filled with books.

Thinking about it, she looked at Love helplessly.

Her gaze seemed to say: Look at all the books you bought me that I haven’t finished reading yet. And you say it’s time to leave?

Orm had known Love and Milk for many years. She knew they meant well, so she wasn’t angry about the phone incident.

Love scratched her head awkwardly.

She had asked old high school classmates to send books to help Orm… but she hadn’t expected there to be so many.

Besides, her house wasn’t close to the hospital.

Transporting them would be troublesome.

“Milk’s car is in the garage. It shouldn’t be a big problem,” Love said.

Orm sighed and looked at Ying again.

But after thinking for a moment, she couldn’t remember what she had wanted to say.

Ying seemed to notice.

Before Orm could speak, she smiled and said:

“Orm won’t forget about me after going home, right?”

“Of course not!” Orm replied immediately.

How could she forget her?

In fact, she had been thinking about inviting her to dinner.

Love looked at Milk and whispered:

“Talk now. Take the chance.”

Milk reacted instantly.

“Orm, how are you going to pack these books? Directly into the suitcase? Or do you need boxes? Should we separate them by category?”

Her interruption made Orm stop looking at Ying.

She began seriously thinking about how to organize all those books.

At the moment Orm turned around, Ying’s expression became much colder.

If she couldn’t tell that the two of them were deliberately interrupting her conversation with Orm… she would be far too naïve.

Love also noticed her gaze.

She remembered something Orm had told her before, and her heart skipped slightly.

During the first year of high school, there had been a day when she couldn’t contact Orm.

Her number was blocked, her messages didn’t go through, and all social media accounts were closed.

At first she thought she had somehow made Orm angry.

But when she thought about it carefully…

The day before, Orm had been happily telling her she had a date with “Sister Ying.”

How could she suddenly get angry?

That night Orm finally sent her a message.

It was just a crying emoji.

No matter how much Love asked what happened, Orm never explained.

Later, when Love and Milk asked how the date with Ying went, Orm said sadly:

“We almost started dating… but Sister Ying seems a bit controlling. I can’t accept it.”

How strong was that controlling nature?

Love and Milk never found out.

After so many years, Love didn’t know if Ying had changed.

But seeing the look in her eyes now made her uneasy.

After thinking for a long time, she reached a conclusion.

Maybe Milk or Miu would be more suitable for Orm.

It was a pity that Miu didn’t come that day.

Love ignored Ying’s gaze and asked:

“Didn’t Miu come today?”

“She’s filming a commercial, so she couldn’t come,” Orm replied.

Before, she had rejected many jobs in order to take care of Orm.

But after all, she was a star and needed to work.

Her agency had required her to attend that shoot.

Yesterday she came to visit Orm and explained the situation.

She felt very guilty for not being able to pick her up when she left the hospital.

But Orm didn’t mind.

After all, she was only leaving the hospital.

There was no need for so many people to accompany her.

Ying leaned against the wall, slightly tilting her head as she watched Orm checking the books.

She remembered something she had heard from former classmates.

That Orm and Lingling had attended Yuncheng University together.

And that Orm had even been chasing her.

Once, while passing by the university with some friends, Ying stopped in front of the café near the entrance.

Just as she was about to leave, she saw someone familiar.

Orm was walking behind Lingling, complaining that math class had been too boring.

“How can you stay awake in class?” she asked.

“I’ll go buy coffee with you, and then you come with me to buy milk tea.”

While Lingling was placing her order, Orm kept chatting behind her.

“Aren’t we leaving?” one of Ying’s friends asked.

But Ying stayed there watching.

Orm’s entire attention was on Lingling.

She didn’t even notice Ying nearby.

Ying watched them leave the café and enter the milk tea shop next door.

Perhaps because Ying had stared for too long, Lingling turned her head while entering the shop.

But her gaze was quick and distant.

The typical look someone gives a stranger.

When they met again years later, Ying hadn’t expected that Orm—who once paid so much attention to Lingling—would now ignore her completely.

At that moment she understood that some things…

could not happen twice.

“Knock, knock.”

A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.

A woman stood there holding a bouquet of red roses.

“My sister has class today, so she asked me to come see you.”

Eunji walked into the room and handed the bouquet to Orm.

Orm smiled and thanked her.

She looked at the bouquet curiously.

There were eleven roses.

But remembering that Eunji said Yinyin asked her to bring them, she didn’t think much about it.

Over the past few days, Yinyin had kept asking her:

“What do you think about my sister?”

“Do you think she’s pretty?”

“Would you like to have another sister like her?”

“Yinyin probably prepared the roses too,” Orm thought.

Orm could think that way.

But the others couldn’t.

When Milk saw the red roses and then looked at Eunji, her eyes almost popped out.

At that moment Ying spoke:

“I just remembered I didn’t bring any gift for Luo Luo. How about I treat you to dinner for a week?”

Orm blinked in surprise.

Did such a good thing really exist?

So she nodded quickly.

“Yes! Yes! That’s fine!”

Hearing that, Milk couldn’t sit still.

“I didn’t bring anything either! Then I’ll treat you to lunch for a week!”

Orm pursed her lips.

“At noon I’ll return the favor. You’ll probably still be sleeping.”

After returning home, she planned to sleep well for several days.

Feeling the unfair treatment, Milk looked at Love with a pleading expression.

Love quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

“Orm, where do you want to go? Milk and I can take you. What do you think?”

Hearing that, Orm immediately straightened up and looked at them with shining eyes.

“How about a bar? The ST Bar.”

That bar only admitted adults.

Before, Orm had always wanted to go, but she couldn’t enter.

Now that her ID finally showed she was over eighteen, she finally had the chance.

Love fell silent for a few seconds.

She remembered something from years ago.

When they had just turned eighteen, Orm had desperately wanted to go to the ST Bar.

Back then Milk had said:

“Let’s go.”

But Orm replied:

“Lingling isn’t going. Lingling doesn’t like noisy places.”

At the time Love didn’t understand.

She even said they could go without Lingling.

But Orm explained that when they had talked about it before, Lingling said she didn’t like places that were too loud.

Orm always adjusted her plans according to Lingling’s preferences.

Love had known this for a long time.

Love: “…”

“Is that okay?” Orm asked again.

Love and Milk looked at each other.

They both clearly remembered that conversation.

Finally Love nodded.

“But the ST Bar is more fun at night. Will you be able to go after dinner with Doctor Ying?”

Then she added:

“You’ll have to choose one.”

Milk secretly gave Love a thumbs-up.

She really knew how to handle the situation.

Orm thought about it for a moment.

It wasn’t like she could go to the bar every day.

So in reality there wasn’t much conflict.

Ying looked at Orm, who seemed deep in thought.

She thought Orm was in a dilemma, so she said gently:

“It’s fine. You can cancel dinner anytime you want.”

Then she added with a smile:

“Or you can bring me with you.”

Where else would she find such a beautiful, gentle, and understanding older sister?

But… wait.

Did she just say she could go with her?

Orm thought about it.

Wouldn’t that be a little strange?

What if Ying saw her craziest side and ended up disliking her?

Before she could think of a way to reject the idea, Milk quickly interrupted:

“Let’s talk about that later.”

Love finally felt relieved.

Milk had finally learned how to block a rival.

Meanwhile, Eunji had been silently listening the entire time.

Yinyin had already told her who all the people around Orm were.

While listening to their conversation, Eunji analyzed the situation in her mind.

1️⃣ Ying invited Orm to dinner for a week.
(Orm might use that as an excuse to get closer. Ying probably likes her.)

2️⃣ Orm wants to go to the ST Bar with Love and Milk.
(There are many attractive people in bars. Someone needs to keep an eye on her.)

3️⃣ Ying tried to go to the bar with Orm, but Milk interrupted.
(Milk’s attitude is suspicious. Is she just a friend… or something more?)

Eunji’s mind worked rapidly.

She tried to think of ways to help Lingling win Orm back.

But the more she thought about it, the harder it seemed.

Orm was too popular.

How could Lingling compete with so many people?

How could that stubborn woman succeed?

Eunji felt the pressure on her shoulders increase.

Then her gaze fell on the bouquet of red roses.

She thought for a moment.

Suddenly she remembered that the entire conversation had started because of those flowers.

Eunji gritted her teeth.

This was all Lingling’s fault.

Lingling had only told her to send flowers.

She never specified red roses.

Giving eleven red roses was far too suspicious.

Fortunately, Orm hadn’t questioned it.

After chatting for a while, everyone realized Eunji had been quiet the whole time.

Just as Love tried to shift the topic away from Orm and Ying, she turned it toward Eunji.

“We’re all friends here. You can’t ignore the new friend,” she said.

Only then did Orm react and start chatting with Eunji.

But Eunji didn’t feel like talking much.

She preferred to listen quietly.

The more she knew about Orm’s life, the better she could help Lingling.

After thinking for a moment, she said:

“Why don’t we add each other on WeChat?”

“Yinyin says she likes you very much. She wants to hang out with you in the future.”

That way she could also find out what Orm was doing later.

Orm agreed without hesitation.

Love and Milk knew that Orm had an apartment on West Street.

After leaving the hospital, she would return to live there.

Originally Love wanted Orm to stay at her house for a while.

But Orm insisted on living alone.

She said it would help her adapt faster.

Love couldn’t convince her.

She could only ask Orm to call if she needed anything.

Love suddenly remembered something Orm had told her before.

Lingling had never known that Orm bought the apartment on West Street.

When Love asked why, Orm replied:

“Because if she knows, she’ll want to move in with me.”

At that time Love almost wanted to reach through the screen and hit her.

But now she thought that not telling Lingling had actually been a good decision.

At noon, Love and Milk drove Orm back to West Street.

After organizing everything in the apartment, Love wanted to stay overnight.

But Orm refused.

When they were leaving, Love remembered that Orm had once mentioned her neighbor.

A very kind aunt.

So she went to knock on the door to greet her.

Milk stood behind her.

They waited for a while.

No one opened the door.

“Not home?” Love murmured.

She pressed her ear against the door to listen for any sound inside.

At that moment, a voice suddenly appeared behind her.

“Girl, what are you doing?”

Love jumped.

Instinctively grabbing Milk’s hand, she turned around.

Standing before them was a woman in her forties.

She had curly hair, a red hairpin on her head, a black padded jacket, and a floral skirt peeking out underneath.

She looked at them curiously.

Her voice was loud, but her expression seemed quite kind.

“We want to ask something about the aunt who lives here,” Love said.

The woman tilted her head.

“Aunt Li? She moved away last month. Didn’t you know?”

Love and Milk shook their heads.

They didn’t live in this building, so it was normal they didn’t know.

The woman nodded and continued:

“The house has already been bought by someone else, but it seems the new owner hasn’t moved in yet.”

Love frowned slightly.

Hadn’t moved in yet?

That meant they still didn’t know what kind of person the new neighbor would be.

“What kind of person is she?” Love asked curiously. “A man or a woman? Young or old?”

“Seems to be a woman. Quite young, but I don’t know much else,” the woman replied.

Hearing that, Love felt a little disappointed.

She didn’t know what the new neighbor would be like.

After saying goodbye to the neighbor, Zhang Ming, Love and Milk returned to Orm’s apartment to give her a few final reminders.

But under Orm’s insistence, they eventually left the apartment.

After Love and Milk left, Orm walked around the house several times.

The apartment was not very large: two bedrooms and a living room. One bedroom and one study.

The decoration was simple and tidy, without any flashy ornaments.

Even so, Orm felt a vague sense of belonging.

After familiarizing herself with the place a little, she looked at the time.

It was three in the afternoon.

Yesterday she had asked Lingling for the address, but after that they hadn’t spoken again.

Lingling also hadn’t contacted her to confirm the time.

From Orm’s point of view, that meant she could go anytime.

If she left at eleven and came back at ten at night, it would still be fine.

But… that seemed too late.

Actually, Orm wasn’t very interested in visiting the place where she had lived for two years.

At that moment, all she wanted was to sleep well.

She only intended to lie down on the bed for a moment to test how comfortable it was…

But she ended up falling asleep before even setting an alarm.

When she woke up, it was already seven in the evening.

She looked out the window.

It was already dark.

Her stomach also started complaining.

She got up, ordered takeout, and found a book to read.

When Orm received a call from an unknown number, she had just finished dinner.

She was thinking about watching some TV before going back to sleep.

She answered the phone.

“Hello?”

A slightly familiar voice came from the other side.

“Have you eaten dinner?”

It was Lingling.

On the screen, the number appeared as unknown.

Didn’t she have her number saved before?

Ah, right…

Love and the others had probably deleted everything related to Lingling from her phone.

“Yes, I’ve already eaten,” Orm replied.

After eating she felt a little sleepy and didn’t understand why Lingling was calling at this hour.

There were a few seconds of silence.

Just when Orm was about to hang up, Lingling spoke again.

“Will you come today?”

Today?

Come where?

Orm was confused for a moment.

Then she remembered what had happened the day before.

Before sleeping she had remembered it…

But after waking up she had completely forgotten.

Though it wasn’t really that important.

If they changed the time, it wouldn’t matter.

“I’m busy sleeping,” she said naturally. “It’s nothing urgent, we can change it to another day.”

Orm was someone who kept her word.

If she had promised to go, she would go.

But this time sleep had won.

And there was nothing she could do about that.

After a few seconds, the other side remained silent.

“Or if you want we can cancel it…” Orm began.

But Lingling spoke before she finished.

“I was checking the calendar. How about tomorrow afternoon?”

“Checking the calendar”?

Was that an explanation?

Orm thought for a moment.

Tomorrow afternoon she had dinner plans with Ying, so she didn’t have time.

“Morning,” she replied. “I already have plans after that.”

Lingling looked at the calendar in front of her.

Three days had been circled.

After a few seconds she said:

“Then tomorrow morning.”

After hanging up, Lingling sent a message to her secretary asking her to reschedule a meeting.

The meeting for that day had already been moved to the next day.

Now she had to change it again.

Eunji was quite confused by Lingling’s recent behavior.

It was something that had never happened before.

At that moment, Lingling was sitting at the dining table.

The table was full of dishes.

She had learned to cook them that morning by watching videos.

Lingling rarely cooked.

She knew she didn’t have much talent for it.

But every time Orm ate something she made, Orm praised it and said it was delicious.

She even said she wanted to eat her cooking for the rest of her life.

Maybe her dishes simply suited Orm’s taste.

That was why Lingling had started preparing them early in the morning.

She had reheated them again and again, waiting for Orm to arrive.

But in the end…

she forgot.

On the table there were also photo albums, a camera, and a Chinese textbook.

Lingling thought those objects might help Orm remember something.

She touched the album and the camera.

Then she looked at the Chinese textbook.

It was the required textbook from the first semester of junior high school.

She had found it earlier that day while looking for things.

The book, which had once been covered in dust, was now completely clean.

In the first half, the handwriting was neat and the annotations were carefully written.

But in the second half everything changed.

That day had been a Chinese self-study class.

Suddenly several whispers could be heard in the classroom.

Lingling looked up.

A girl she vaguely recognized was making a “shh” gesture with her finger on her lips.

Lingling only glanced for a moment before returning to her notes.

But shortly afterward she felt someone sit down beside her.

A soft scent of roses drifted toward her.

Lingling frowned slightly.

When she turned her head a little, she met Orm’s smiling eyes.

Orm rested her head on her right hand while looking at her.

When their eyes met, Orm lowered her hand and extended the other one toward her.

“Hello, Lingling. I’m Orm from the class next door.”

She paused.

“The Orm of… well, I’ll just write it.”

Before Lingling could react, Orm took her pen and wrote her name in the book.

Lingling touched the words written there.

Orm’s handwriting wasn’t particularly beautiful.

But after that, for some reason, Orm started liking to help her write notes.

That was why, in the second half of the book, the handwriting was a mixture of both of theirs.

Suddenly, Lingling paused.

On one page there was only one word written:

“Mountain.”

She remembered the reason.

It had been one week after Orm met her.

That day Orm had come to complain.

“Milk is bothering me again,” she said.

Then she added indignantly:

“She says my name is terrible.”

“She says there’s no love in my name.”

Orm snorted angrily.

“She also says my name has too many strokes.”

“That the character Kornnaphat looks like a bunch of zeros stacked together.”

“Like several lives piled on top of each other!”

Actually, it wasn’t only in Thai textbooks.

Back then, Orm often sat beside Lingling after class. When she got bored, she would doodle and scribble in Lingling’s books.

Remembering that, Lingling returned to the study and began searching for old books.

At that moment, a notification sounded in the room.

Lingling looked at her phone.

It was a message from Eunji.

Eunji had sent all the information she had heard that day, along with her own analysis.

ST Bar.

Lingling murmured the name softly.

Suddenly she remembered that Orm had mentioned that place a long time ago.

Eunji kept typing, sending every idea she thought might help.

Since Lingling didn’t reply for a while, Eunji wrote again:

[Familiar scenes and places may help her recover her memory.]

[Boss Kwong, why not take her to some important places from the past? For example, places where you had dates or things that were special to her, like gifts you gave her that she loved.]

A while later, Eunji received Lingling’s reply.

[Yesterday she agreed to return to the house where we used to live.]

Before Eunji could ask how it went, another message arrived.

[But she forgot the appointment.]

Eunji’s fingers froze above the keyboard.

After thinking for a few seconds, she decided to say what she really thought.

[Then it seems Orm really doesn’t take you very seriously…]

She knew those words might hurt Lingling.

But she also believed Lingling needed to face reality.

Eunji felt conflicted.

On one hand she wanted to help her.

But on the other…

she felt Lingling deserved it a little.

Deep down, she was even a bit curious to see Lingling suffer a little.

Finally she wrote another message.

[If you want her to recover her memory, you should first think about why she liked you so much.]

[Use that to get close again. Wouldn’t it be better to win her back from the beginning?]

It was very reasonable advice.

But Lingling thought about it for a long time and still couldn’t find an answer.

She had never really thought about why Orm liked her.

Orm used to say that Lingling was exactly her type.

Even after losing her memory, that impression seemed unchanged.

Eunji wrote again:

[Wasn’t there any moment that moved her? After so many years together, there must be some memory that made her happy.]

Lingling thought for a long time.

She remembered that Orm had been very happy on the day they started dating.

That day they walked around the entire city.

After that, even small random gifts were enough to make Orm happy for days.

But now, remembering it, everything seemed too insignificant.

Lingling realized something.

Maybe…

she had never consciously tried to make Orm happy.

After a long time without a reply, Eunji started to feel sleepy.

So she wrote:

[Boss Kwong, I’m very sleepy. I’m going to bed.]

[Tomorrow I’ll look for information that might help recover her memory.]

Lingling came back to her senses and replied simply:

[Thank you.]

Eunji was a little surprised to see those three words.

But she was too tired to respond.

Before falling asleep, she had a vague feeling.

Maybe all of this…

was only just beginning.

Perhaps Lingling would change a lot in the future.

Meanwhile, Orm was watching television.

Just when she was about to go to sleep, her phone rang again.

Love and Milk were worried about her.

They wanted to call and chat for a while to make sure she didn’t feel lonely.

Milk had even suggested staying on the call until Orm fell asleep.

But before she could say another word, another call came in.

Orm hung up Milk’s call without thinking.

She answered the other one.

A familiar voice came from the other side.

Orm pulled the phone away and looked at the screen.

The number was unknown.

“Does your family own a telecommunications company?” Orm asked.

Only two hours had passed since the last call.

But Lingling was calling her from another number.

Lingling replied calmly:

“Do you mean me or my family?”

Orm: “…”

As always.

Lingling didn’t understand jokes.

Thinking about it…

Living with someone like Lingling must have been quite boring.

How had she endured so many years?

Lingling had never thought about changing for her.

But Orm understood.

If you don’t love someone, you won’t change for them.

And if you truly love someone, you also won’t want to force them to change.

That’s why when you fall in love, it’s better to find someone who truly fits you.

Lingling hadn’t called to remind her of anything.

She just wanted to know if Orm was asleep.

And whether she was okay.

But Orm didn’t feel like continuing the conversation.

Just when she was about to hang up, she saw another name appear on the screen.

Ying.

“Sister Ying,” Orm said automatically.

“I’ll hang up now.”

She hung up Lingling’s call and answered Ying’s.

The screen returned to the dial pad.

Lingling stared at the phone.

“Sister Ying.”

It wasn’t the first time she noticed the difference between the way Orm treated Ying…

and the way she treated her.

With Lingling, Orm was cold and distant.

But when she spoke with Ying, her tone completely changed.

After hanging up, Lingling sat by the window for a long time.

She thought about many things.

Maybe she had ignored too many things before.

For example…

She always compared how Orm treated others with how she treated her.

But she had never compared how others treated Orm…

with how she treated her.

Maybe that was the real difference.

The next morning, Orm woke up at nine.

The sound of her phone woke her.

She squinted.

On the screen appeared the name Miu.

She sighed and answered.

“Good morning, sister.”

Miu seemed to be in a good mood.

“Good morning.”

When Orm called her “sister,” Miu was so surprised she almost dropped her eyebrow pencil.

The makeup artist beside her let out a small laugh.

Miu glanced at her and took the pencil.

“Let me do it myself.”

Hearing the laugh, Orm asked:

“Is someone there with you?”

“I’m in makeup. Getting ready to film.”

Then she quickly added:

“Sister, don’t call me sister. Call me Miu… or dear Miu.”

Orm yawned.

“Alright, dear sister.”

Miu: “…”

Miu called to invite her to lunch.

Orm looked at the time.

It was only nine.

Miu’s house was quite close to West Street.

She could still sleep a little longer.

But just as she was about to close her eyes again, she looked at her phone.

There was a message from an unknown number sent two hours earlier.

[Are you awake yet?]

It was Lingling.

Orm sighed.

Ignoring her again seemed a bit excessive.

So she got out of bed and searched for the address Lingling had sent.

She entered it into the map.

It would take about thirty minutes by car.

But she didn’t have a car.

She would have to take a taxi.

Round trip would take more than an hour.

But if she came back quickly, she could still make it to lunch with Miu.

Perfect.

One hour later, Orm arrived at Nanyang Yulou.

As soon as she reached the entrance of the residential complex, Orm wondered whether she would need some kind of identification to enter.

At that moment, the security guard in the booth saw her and came out to greet her.

His tone was very familiar and friendly, as if he had known her for a long time.

A few minutes later, Orm arrived at Lingling’s house and rang the doorbell.

Lingling opened the door.

She was wearing a white sweater and an apron. If one looked carefully, there were still some small stains on her clothes.

Cooking with a white sweater?

What was Lingling thinking?

Seeing Orm standing at the door, Lingling remained silent for a moment.

Then she said:

“You’re here.”

Orm nodded. She was already at the door, so she simply walked in.

“Have you eaten?” Lingling asked.

Orm ignored the question and walked directly inside.

As she entered, a strange feeling washed over her.

The place felt familiar.

As if she had been there many times before.

The house decoration looked somewhat childish, even a little messy.

But Orm immediately had the impression that she was probably the one who had decorated it.

Because when she was younger she had always dreamed of living in a house full of her favorite cartoon characters.

She wanted to fill every corner with memories of her childhood…

and one day share that place with the person she liked.

Just like the day before, Lingling had prepared a table full of food.

The dishes looked normal, although some seemed slightly overcooked.

“Shall we eat together?” Lingling asked cautiously.

Orm looked around for a moment.

Then she silently sat down at the table.

“The soup is missing. Wait a moment,” Lingling said.

After saying that, she returned to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Orm noticed a photo album, a camera, and a middle school Chinese textbook on the table.

She immediately recognized the camera.

It was a gift from her grandmother.

Those objects being there now was no coincidence.

Lingling had clearly placed them there deliberately for her to see.

But Orm wasn’t afraid to look.

When Lingling returned with the hot soup, she saw Orm looking at the first page of the album.

On that page there was a handwritten sentence.

“Love Lingling for a very, very long time. Hug her and love her with everything you have, so she will never feel lonely again.”

It was her own handwriting.

It looked naïve.

Almost childish.

She had even thought about loving Lingling with all her strength.

Was that really necessary?

Orm turned the page.

The photos felt strange and familiar at the same time.

The person in them was herself.

But the memories…

didn’t belong to her.

There were many photos of Lingling.

Most looked like they had been taken secretly.

Although in some of them, Lingling’s gaze seemed directed straight at the camera.

Suddenly, Orm raised her head and smiled.

“It seems I really liked you a lot.”

Lingling was surprised by Orm’s expression.

Her lips tightened slightly.

Then she picked up the serving chopsticks and placed several dishes into Orm’s bowl.

“Let’s eat first,” she said.

Orm’s eyes fell on the carrot Lingling had placed in her bowl.

She smiled slightly.

Then she pretended not to see it and picked up another vegetable to taste.

Lingling watched her with quiet expectation.

But in the next second, Orm put down her chopsticks.

She spat out the vegetable she had just tasted.

Then she looked at Lingling with a disgusted expression.

“Although it’s not very polite to say this, Miss Kwong… your cooking is really bad.”

She sighed.

“I tried, really. But I can’t swallow it.”

Then she picked up the glass of orange juice beside her and took a sip.

Lingling remained silent for a moment.

She remembered that long ago, Orm had always praised her cooking.

She even said she wanted to eat her food every day.

Before Lingling could react, Orm spoke again.

“And besides, Miss Kwong…”

“You said we’ve known each other for ten years and dated for two or three.”

Then she looked directly at her.

“Didn’t you know I’m allergic to carrots?”
