you saw brigadoon

Chapter 3

Summary:

Dana and Heather snuggle in the hotel bed and watch tv.

Chapter Text

Dana woke up to find herself wrapped in Heather’s arms. She took off her weighted eye mask, expecting to squint in the light, but the room was dark. The room lights were off and the blackout curtains were drawn. Dana had no idea what time it was.

Heather slept next to Dana, her arms and legs spooning Dana. As Dana turned to face the other woman, Heather began to stir.

“Feel better?” Heather asked, before even opening her eyes.

“Yeah, much better, thanks,” Dana said, rubbing her eyes. There was still a dull ache but the piercing pain was gone.

“Mind if I turn on the tv?” Heather asked, now fully awake.

“Sure,” Dana said, still laying in Heather’s arms. Dana put her weighted eye mask back on as Heather turned on the hotel television with the remote. Music filled the room, and Heather turned the volume down.

“Lerner and Loewe?” Dana asked, suddenly interested.

“Who?” Heather asked, watching people dance on the screen. “Some musical is playing.”

“Yeah, Brigadoon right?” Dana said, slowly sitting up and taking off her eye mask. “I know this one.”

“Of course you do,” Heather said, fondly rolling her eyes. “It’s probably as old as you are.”

“Haha,” Dana laughed sarcastically. “I was born in ‘66, not ‘54, thank you very much.”

“Close enough, grandma,” Heather said, continuing to watch the musical. Dana reached over and gently pinched Heather’s arm. Heather responded by leaning over to kiss Dana softly on the lips. Dana happily sighed into the kiss.

“What time is it?” Dana asked.

Heather looked at her watch. “Four pm. We slept a while. Are you up for a sunset hike?”

Dana thought a bit then answered. “How about we get up early tomorrow and do a sunrise walk instead. I want to go back to sleep.”

“Good plan,” Heather said, turning off the tv and snuggling into Dana.
