It had been a few weeks since the running if the leaves race and AppleJack had noticed a new change in perspective about her close friend Rainbow Dash, which pretty much everypony would agree that what she was experiencing was a crush. And over those few weeks, Applejack was trying to ponder up ideas on how to handle the whole situation, however she quickly decided that if her and Rainbow were meant to be a couple, it would happen naturally and be unforced. But that wouldn't stop her from attempting to see her every chance she got. And it just so happens that while her and Apple Bloom were delivering a barrel of apples to a bakery in town, she noticed a poster for a wonder bolts performance happening on Saturday.
"Whatcha lookin' at?" Apple Bloom asked.
"This poster here, do ya think Rainbow would like to go see this with me?" Applejack said, inspecting the poster.
"i mean probably..? Scootaloo mentioned somethin' about Rainbow Dash wanting to see one sometime soon or somethin'" She responded.
after some thought, AppleJack finally decided that she was going to take Rainbow Dash to the show, which Rainbow was very... very... VERY excited about. Saturday rolled around rather quickly, and since the two weren't really the type to spend hours and hours getting ready for just a regular hangout, they decided to meet up early to get some apple cider before the show.
"Thanks again for taking me out today Aj!" Rainbow Dash said excitedly while taking giant sips of cider. "Say, did you know that the coach of the wonderbolts is actually..."
Aj eventually began to pay less attention to Rainbows collection of random facts about the wonderbolts, and started to pay more attention to the pretty details on Rainbow's face. After staring for give or take a couple minutes, she noticed that a small about of cider had left a moustache on Rainbow's upper lip, which Aj couldn't help but giggle a bit.
"What're you laughing at..?" Rainbow Dash questioned.
Aj pointed at Rainbow's upper lip, "You've got a moustache" Aj laughed.
Rainbow quickly whipped her face off and they noticed that the sky had turned more of a pinkish and orangey color. They eventually left to go to the spot the performance was at, finding a pretty good spot to sit down and watch the show up on a small hill above the crowd. And as they were waiting for the performance to begin, Rainbow began to get herself comfortable, leaning against Aj and resting her head on her shoulder, which was making Aj blush quite a bit. The wonderbolts were amazing as always, rainbow seemed especially amazed. The sky was already a dark (almost black) blue, with the stars twinkling when the majority of the crowd was already gone.
"Well, that was awesome wasn't it!" Rainbow said happily, while getting up to leave, however Aj stopped her.
"Hey Rainbow, i know you're gettin' ready to leave, but do you wanna stay here for a little longer? The breeze is nice and uh.." Aj mumbled.
"Sure, why not, i got no place else to be" Rainbow said, sitting back down she glanced up at the sky, "Sure is pretty tonight" she said staring at the milky twilight.
"Sure is" Aj agreed.
After just a couple moments of just sitting in the grass, Aj decided to make a bold move, she leaned over and grabbed Rainbow Dash's chin and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Rainbow Dash just stared back in response, which made Aj feel a bit nervous, so she ended up quickly packing up what little stuff she had brought and quickly stood up to leave.
"Sorry.." Aj chuckled nervously, "I'm just gonna head out now.. see ya later Rainbow" AJ quickly dashed off after that, leaving Rainbow Dash behind to piece together what had just happened.
