Chapter Text

D-16 slipped down from the top of the building, eventually landing on the roads leading through the market. The mech approached the stall of energon snacks and treats with caution. As he got closer, he saw the scene clearly.

The stall’s owner, who he now recognizes as a purple and sliver femme, was holding the wrist joint of the red and blue mech he had seen before. The owner tried, yet failed to grab the golden bracelet attached to the mech’s servo. Dee knew that this would escalate should he choose not to intervene.

Once he reached the metal stand, he pushed his way between the two. “Whoa, hey! I’m sure this is all just a misunderstanding.” At this the femme stared at him with disdain. “He was taking the food! Unless he pays for them, I swear I’ll-“ He cut the stall’s owner off. “Like I said, this could all just be a misunderstanding.” He turned around to the lost looking mech. “Trust me.” He whispers.

While he stood there confused by D-16’s words, he took that window of opportunity to slip the golden bracelet off of the mech’s wrist joint. The red and blue mech griped the place where the brace would have been with surprise . Dee then faced the purple femme with a confident look, leaving the other mech sputtering.

“Here, is this what you we’re looking for?” He tossed the piece of jewelry over to the waiting servo of the bot. “Ah! Thank you.” Before she could tuck the shining brace into a compartment of her stall, D-16 came up to the her. “Here, take some energon for the trouble.” He gave a small cube that was stored into his subspace to the owner who looked at him with gratitude.

As D-16 took hold of the mech’s arm and began to leave, he stopped the silver thief angrily. “Who are you, and what is your problem! I am not leaving without that bracelet!” His finials turned down. D-16 pulled out of his subspace the decorative piece of golden metal. “ I think you mean this.” The red and blue mech’s finials that were turned downward before, lifted up in exclamation. “How did you-“ “No time to explain, let’s get moving.” Dee pulled the mech along, and before he knew it, someone was shouting for guards.

Just before, the purple and silver stall owner went to admire the piece of jewelry, but in its place she instead found another cube of energon. Frantically, she searched for the bracelet only to realize and discover that there was instead two cubes.

The shouting of guards and pedes running along the ground reached D-16’s and the other mech’s audials. Dee sighed then looked at the mech, who was putting on the golden jewelry. He looked back up with a panic and turned towards his new acquaintance. “Are we in trouble?” He grabbed the mech’s arm and began to run. “Maybe-“ Just then his com lit up.

-Dee, you there?- -Bee, where are you? I’m about to have a run in with guards.- He shouted. -I see your location. I’m headed there now! Don’t get caught!- -I won’t.- “Who are you talking to?” The mech next to him vented heavily. “A friend. Just keep running.” -Hey, Bee I have a new acquaintance. Help them through.- He handed the com to the mech running by his side. “Here, he knows the way.” He nodded back at him and took off.

It wasn’t long before D-16 ran into an alleyway. The building’s sturdy exterior provided him support as he climbed the metal walls. As he reached the top of the building, he could begin to distinguish the distinctive sounds of some of Iacon’s guards. “Stop or we will be forced to detain you!” One of them shouted.

While most would call this quite dangerous and downright crazy, Dee had no plans on stopping for the well-trained guards. The high guard of Iacon were known for their abilities. And yes, while they did accompany the Primes on special events or excursions to the surface, they also provided protection to the people of Iacon by doing patrols around the prestigious city.

Getting into trouble with them is frequently warned against.

D-16 raced on the top of the roofs of the metal buildings that decorated the streets. He was beginning to vent a little heavier as he sped along, hoping to lose the guard that persistently cased him. He changed his direction as he saw his acquaintance from before alongside his yellow friend.

Once he was running with the two, he took the lead. Dee vented deeply trying to spot out exits and areas to escape to. B-127 then grabbed his arm, pulling his attention to a different spot.

“There! We can use the poles to get across!” The area Bee was referring to was an unfinished construction site with poles stacked along the side of the half built structure. Bee, rushing forward with great speed, transformed his pedes to launch hisself onto the pole.

He landed on the other side, skidding to a stop. He then turned around to spot the two mechs running towards the edge of the unfinished building. D-16 wiped his helmet around to the red and blue mech. “We jump on three!” The other mech acknowledged this information with ease. They both gained speed, rushing as they heard the Icon guard swiftly following their path. “One, two, and three!” They jumped and firmly grasped a metal pole with their servos.

The metal nearly slipped from the thief’s digits as they sailed across the edge of the rooftop. He quickly prepared for the inevitable landing onto the other roof.

His pedes hit the platform with a dull thud as he ducked and rolled. The other mech wasn’t much better, as he landed slightly harder with more significance. Bee helped both of them up and all three of them, once standing without any signs of wobbling, ran as hard and as fast as they could. The shadow of the flyer nearly descended upon them as they ducked for cover. The silver mech saw his chance and struck the jet hard, throwing them off their balance and distracting them.

D-16 saw an opportunity as an entrance into the building they were currently on top of came into view. He grabbed the servos of his companions and they ducked into the cover of the building’s stairwell.

They rushed down the stairs, and listened to try to see whether or not the flyer followed them through. Dee released his vent as all three of them reached the bottom of the staircase. The flyer hadn’t seemed to followed them through the entrance.

B-127 spun around on alert. “I think we lost them. But can never be too sure.” Dee took this into consideration. “We should stay low until we can be for certain.” He turned to the other mech who had a dazed look on his faceplate. “You can stick with us until everything calms down.”

The mech snaps out of their trance and looks him in the optics. “Right, sorry. Thank you by the way. Don’t know what I would have done.” As he holds out his servo, Bee jumps to shake it. “No problem! Anyways, I’m B-127 but everybody just calls me Bee! And that over there is D-16!”

Dee shakes his helmet with a sigh. “Sorry about him.” “It’s alright! I don’t mind!” The mech responds, Bee turns to him with sudden realization. “Oh! Also, between you know, not getting arrested, and all that running, We never asked your name!” The mech looks startled at this and almost scrambles for his words. “Oh, I-I’m Orion! Orion Pax.”

D-16 looks suspiciously at the newly named Orion but doesn’t question it. “ Come on, I know a place where we can head to. Nice to meet you, Orion.” He holds out his servo for the other mech to take. “Likewise.” Orion takes his servo and shakes it.
