Chapter Text
And it’s not like Lucifer could think of any alternative that fit the scenario anymore than Luci having some kind of impurity inside of him, not that Lucifer wants to know how that even happened, but one thing was becoming clear, Luci wasn’t fully an Angel. Something was wrong, and Lucifer was beginning to feel as if Alastor was keeping close watch of it if the constant stare he felt piercing him was any sign.
Well, there was only one way they were gonna find out if this hypothesis was true or not, and that involved talking with the angel that had a tuft of blonde hair poking out of his arm at the moment, his soft sniffling causing Lucifer to walk over with much more caution than he usually would, almost like he was approaching a kitten, except this kitten was an archangel, and, could, theoretically, kill him.
“Hey, Luci, could it be that the thoughts you were having, were, uh, ya’know, imp-” The sound of a clanging bell began almost instantly, the sound almost head-splitting as Lucifer’s hands rose to cover his ears,a moment later, and the noise had dissipated, the only evidence of its existence being in the form of the mountains of ducks that had fallen as a result of the horrid ringing which seemed to have ran its course.
Lucifer had somehow managed to faint of all things, having woken back up in his bed rather than on the floor, he frowned at the Static noise, lifting himself without much effort as he pressed a hand towards his forehead, he could still feel the horrible sound repeating in the inside of his mind, had it not been for the small squeeze Alastor had given his hand, he’d have probably lost a marble or two, well, falling from heaven already cost him his sanity, but he’d definitely be reaching Alastor crazy.
It wasn’t until he had lifted his head to actually look at the radio demon had he realized the blood that was beginning to taint his clothing, the red suit burning with a deeper red.
“What the hell happened!?” Al stepped forward now, his arms held Luci who seemed to be fast-asleep, he almost seemed to be in a coma, his arms simply to his side without much as a single twitch or flutter of the eye.
“It seems a sort of disaster has occurred. It all happened in a flash, it was quite surreal. I.. would it be alright to ask if...” Al looked hesitant to speak, looking towards Luci, his arms shifting slightly, Lucifer almost thought he saw a semblance of sadness flash through Al’s eyes only to see it be crushed by the man, his eyes becoming darker, as if a light had been shut down, one he was unwilling to acknowledge.
Alastor really wasn’t kidding when he said they were still them, Lucifer couldn’t help himself when he reached a hand towards Al, pressing his hand towards his face only for him to hesitate, flinching away as if touched by lava. Lucifer disregarded the pang in his stomach, opting to look towards Luci, hand falling to his side as a soft chuckle escaped him.
“Luci can’t die if that’s what you're thinking. Y’know, we angels aren’t that easy to kill. And I’m sure Luci made sure to show you how tough he can be at times.” The tense air had dwindled a bit at the remark, Al’s smile faltered for a moment, his eyes rapid movement not escaping Lucifer. The crack in his composure was most evident, like a string beginning to bundle itself into knots.
Al was cold, vigil and often seemed aloof around others, less perfect than the Alastor he knew, every movement is precise, yet imperfect, it seems Alastor had lost that part of himself, keeping himself pristine despite the every changing times, precision for Alastor was key, for Al, it seemed to take a back seat at times, and this minute detail was becoming clearer by the second.
It might’ve been because he was an alternate version of his own lover, but to hell with it, Lucifer actually felt bad for the guy. Who he’d like to note, is a mass serial killer. But being a creep or a bit on the insane side had not been something he ever cared too much about.
Alastor’s breathing had gotten rougher, it sounded as if even breathing was becoming hard for him, whatever remnants of angelic presence that had once remained poked at his chest, creating shards that Lucifer could only begin to imagine the pain of.
“If you believe to replace me as I perish at your side, perhaps you await my parting for another to assume such a place.”
Alastor almost seemed angry, his voice dripping with static as he spoke, his shadow frowned beside him, following Lucifer’s every move as he frantically moved himself closer to Alastor, looking briefly at Al as Lucifer nodded towards the other side of the bed, Al let out a small hum, his eyes looked like they were incapable of looking away from Luci for less than a second, and Lucifer could only now tell how firm Al’s loyalty stood.
Guess some things always stay the same. Lucifer let out a small chuckle at the thought, his robe’s pink fabric swinging, almost being tainted with Alastor's blood before being gently pushed by Alastor’s shadow. “You mustn't let your garments be sullied with a sinner's blood.” Lucifer let out an even bigger chuckle now, closing the space between them as he held Alastor against his chest, hands gently reaching into the deer’s back as he looked for the angelic energy that was causing him so much pain.
