Chapter Text
"We finally finished!" Changbin exclaimed, closing the math exercise book he had been working on all afternoon with Jisung, in preparation for a joint test that all the classes at their school would take.
"Yeah! I am dead tired!" Jisung said, getting up from the desk chair and throwing himself onto the bed in his friend's room.
"At least now we can relax." he added.
Changbin nodded, turning toward his friend who had meanwhile sat cross-legged on the mattress.
After a few seconds, unsure whether to ask that question or not, he spoke up.
"So, how is it going with Minho?"
Jisung flinched for a moment, not expecting that kind of question. Changbin had completely caught him off guard. Even though he had already talked about his feelings for the older boy with his best friend, he was not used to dwelling on such topics, being more accustomed to listening to Changbin ramble for hours about the person he had a crush on.
"Hey Jisung. Are you there? Is it such a difficult question?"
The boy snapped out of it, clearing his throat.
"No no, not at all. You just caught me by surprise."
Changbin chuckled. "I know I am usually the one talking about Felix, but do not be scared if for once I ask how your love life is going, since mine is not."
Jisung gave a small smile. He was glad his friend was interested in him and his feelings, especially after he had felt completely free to talk about them with him.
It had been Changbin who took the first step, during an afternoon in November. With a bit of initial hesitation, he had told the blonde about the person he was in love with, a boy who was in his same class, with a huge fear of being judged by Jisung.
However, to the blonde, his friend's words had felt like a kind of relief, to the point that he immediately reassured him and even managed to talk to him about his own feelings for Minho a couple of months later.
Jisung liked Minho, he had realized it in a short time, but he had always denied it to himself, not thinking that he could ever return his feelings.
However, lately he had changed his mind, especially after that evening when Minho had managed to calm him down, the same evening when he had kissed him.
An evening he was now about to tell his friend about, after almost a month.
"Everything is fine... more than fine..." the blonde said, blushing.
"What exactly do you mean?" Changbin asked curiously.
"Well... I could also tell you that we kissed."
Changbin's eyes widened.
"You are telling me that you two kissed and you would not have told me if I had not asked? Do you know how much I would have talked if the same thing had happened to me with Fel-"
"I know Changbin, I know. The point is that, since we are talking about it, I am seriously considering the idea of confessing... I think it would make me incredibly happy to be with him." Jisung said, his eyes shining.
"That is if he feels the same..." he added, looking discouraged.
"Of course he does! He would not have kissed you otherwise!"
"Maybe he did it just because that evening I had a panic attack."
"I really do not think so. Why would he have done it if he was not interested in you? I mean, after helping you calm down he would not have risked kissing you if he had not wanted to on his own..."
"I know but..."
"Do not tell me you pulled away?"
"No, no, absolutely not." Jisung said, blushing.
"Then you have nothing to worry about! Trust me, confess. If I were you I would have done it a long time ago."
"Says the one who writes in a secret diary because he is too shy to even talk to the person he likes..." Jisung said sarcastically.
"First of all it is not a secret diary, it is a reflection notebook."
Jisung rolled his eyes. "And secondly, this is my honest advice, based on your situation, not mine, which is completely different. So, Jisung, if I were you I would put those two neurons you have left to work and go confess to Minho, because from the way you talk about him it seems like you are both interested."
Jisung stayed silent and nodded. "Maybe you are right..." he whispered.
"What is bothering you? Are you afraid he might be straight?"
Jisung chuckled. "No, definitely not. He told me himself he is not."
"Then you have nothing to fear!" Changbin said, getting up from the chair and sitting on the bed next to Jisung. "Go and win him over!" he exclaimed.
The blonde nodded, now more convinced.
"Thanks Changbin, really," he said, hugging his friend.
"You would be lost without me!" he exclaimed, returning the hug.
"Not going to take a dip in some modesty, are we?" Jisung replied jokingly, pulling away and laughing together with his friend.
The two of them then started planning what to say to Minho, when to say it and how to say it, in order to come up with a perfect confession.
They agreed he would tell him at the arcade, after Minho had finished his work shift, just like the first times they had met.
They spent the rest of the afternoon fantasizing about Minho's possible responses and about a hypothetical relationship between Changbin and Felix, the boy he was in love with, whom he had managed not to mention for a surprisingly long time compared to his usual standards.
While Changbin was busy describing his wedding ceremony with Felix, Jisung briefly lost focus.
He thought he could not have asked for a better friend than Changbin. Now he was determined to do what until recently he had only imagined.
Thank you, Changbin, he said in his mind.
