Chapter Text
A long time ago in the Korean Peninsula, a group of demons rose up and took the souls of all that came into contact with them. But then, three singers rose like the sun on an ever gloomy village, and hunted down these ghastly invaders, all while singing songs of hope, safety and unity. This heroic, collective action protected all villagers and merchants from the forces of evil, maintaining the Honmoon for centuries to come.
This extended to many performers throughout the years; trot groups, 80’s idols, the Sunlight Sisters, HUNTR/X, and now, a new K-Pop group waiting in the wings. Or is it two?
Ever since the defeat of the Demon Leader Gwi-ma at the hands of HUNTR/X, the number of demon attacks has decreased dramatically. Demand for pop music, however, has not. And why would it? Music makes the world go round, and as a fun bonus, it keeps the Honmoon from breaking apart. And thus began the search for a new group of Hunters.
Eventually, three motivated fighters with a talent for music had proven themselves worthy to the Elder Hunter, a former leader of HUNTR/X. The trio is led by the Elder’s daughter, gifted with the talents and resolve to maintain peace and harmony between part-demons and humans. Looking up to her are two people who can only match up with her abilities. One is a tenacious fighter with a one track mind guaranteed to ward off any enemies, and the other is a master strategist helping make their battles seamless to many. Together, they would have made for a strong, valiant K-Pop group ready to sing songs and bring strength to the Honmoon. But as the search ended, a new search was only beginning.
Before their debut, the brawny Hunter and her cunning counterpart sensed potential betrayal and resolved to assassinate the Elder. They conspired in secret, out of earshot of their Sunbaenim, waiting in the bushes for an opportunity. Then one fateful evening, they attempted to execute their plan with the blades they had gained, but just when they thought they had succeeded in ambushing the Elder, they were shocked to realise that they had beheaded a mannequin lookalike. The Elder was quickly informed of this mutinous malfeasance by her daughter, who had caught them red handed. Shocked and stiff with anger, the Sabomnim quickly demanded an apology. But there wasn’t one to be made, for the two rebels felt justified in applying the old Hunter’s Ethos to part-demons like the Sunbae and the Sabomnim.
The defeat of Gwi-ma rewarded the Elder with the reassurance that her demon powers were not as much of a curse as she was raised to believe, and her daughter embraced these same powers since she was old enough to walk and talk.
Having realised there was no love in their hearts, the Elder and her precious daughter revoked the two mutineers of their titles, and barred them from being signed to the talent agency and everything associated with it.
Never one to feel discouraged (this courage being instilled in her by her upbringing), the Hunter began her new search, compelled by the inclination to repair the fracture in the Honmoon caused by the assassination attempt. And from this search, the bandleader found two skilled creatives that were adept in fighting and musicality. One had a background in theatre and Taekwondo, and had been inspired to join the new group having heard it was a spiritual successor to HUNTR/X; she had been a fan of the group and was inspired to incorporate her martial art skills into her choreography. The other was a music tech wizard who was of part-British blood, and wanted to learn self-defense in order to maintain her independence. She could not sing to save a life no matter how hard she tried, but she did manage to ward off demons on an off day, and she was able to bring fresh production ideas to the table. She also agreed to help organise events with her two peers.
The Master Elder and her daughter sensed love in the hearts of the Thespian and the sound maker, and from this, the true Hunter’s group was able to debut with a fresh new sound and follow the new Hunter’s Ethos to protect South Korea from the forces of evil, especially when helping some pacifist demons change their ways.
We are Hunters, voices strong
Saving people with their song
Fx the world and make it right
When darkness finally meets the light
This new group vowed to maintain the golden energy of the Honmoon in a bid to keep evil demons at bay. And with the help of their talent agency and their assigned manager, this group would go on to hit the charts, destroy evil and reform all those on the wrong path. But soon enough, a new force will rise stronger than any demon in the Peninsula. A force guaranteed to capture the souls of many without having to capture souls. A power to keep unsuspecting humans on the path towards the Status Quo. And in the wrong hands, a power to keep the Hunters from staying on the charts.
This is the story of the rivalry between PartDemon and Sequel.
