As for my other fics, I am working on the update for Ravenous Fool and then Destiny's Web thereafter.

As for my updates as a whole, they might slow down a bit as I am working on a brand new fic for the LotM Big Bang event!

But never fear for I will never leave you with some good food~

Chapter Text

Leonard sulkily sat in the meeting room waiting for everyone else to show up, black coffee in hand. Many of the Nighthawks have been reassigned to Winter Courty due to the war, and those that remain in Backlund have been avoiding him since it was revealed that he's been secretly in contact with believers of the Fool.

He's even more sulky than usual because his usual company are not there either. Pallez has been quiet all morning and Amon had left before he woke up and have yet to return. If it wasn't because of his trust in Klein, he would've thought that Amon stole Pallez while he slept.

He looked up as the door opened and saw Cindy walk in. "Good morning."

"Captain," Cindy nodded back but said nothing more. She quietly sat down in her usual spot before shifting to look straight ahead.

Leonard held back a sigh as she was continuing her silent treatment of him, luckily Bob was still willing to make small talk and both listened to him during missions. But that doesn't change the fact that things have become a bit strained and awkward.

They weren't alone for long as the rest of the Nighthawks and Red Gloves filled in. Finally Soest and Anthony arrived with two new faces behind them, which drew everyone's attention.

The two new members stood patiently to the side but as the meeting continued, Leonard couldn't help but notice how stiff they were, almost as if they're standing on eggshells and not solid ground.

"And that brings us to our final subject of the day. These two are new members that'll be joining us here. Vance Tybre is a new Sequence 8 of the Seer and will be working alongside the normal Nighthawks whereas Andrew Grinlich is a newly advanced sequence 7 Magician of the Seer pathway and will be joining the Red Gloves under Leonard Mitchell."

Leonard sat up at that, a bit of confusion and concern showing on his face. Not only did the would be Red Glove not wear red gloves, but know Klein and seeing first hand how seers are supposed to act, those two looked closer to losing control than not.

"Something the matter Mr Mitchell?" Anthony had been keeping a close eye on Leonard the entire time, gauging his reaction.

"Well, ignoring the fact that, Andrew was it?" Seeing the man nod, Leonard continued, "isn't wearing red gloves that are issued the moment you finish training, both of them are too… stiff."

Anthony raised an eyebrow at that, "Too stiff?"

Leonard sighed and rubbed his eyes, "Okay so you know how I'm the Emissary between the Goddess and the followers of the Fool, right? Well the Fool is the God of Seers, my best friend is a high sequence Seer. I may not be a seer but I know what a Seer is supposed to look like, and those two, no offence, is very close to losing control judging by how stiff and tense they are."

Vance and Andrew glanced at each other while the rest of the people looked at Leonard, who could help but twitch under the scrutiny.

Anthony let out a sigh. As much as he hates things happening under his nose, in the very cathedral he's supposed to guard over, the risk of losing comrades outweighed his reservations.

"Would a Seer of the Fool be willing to assist our own Seers to ensure they won't lose control?"

"I'm sure there won't be a problem. If I had some paper, a pen and a candle I can actually send a message to one right now." Leonard was just glad that despite his current reputation, his advice was still being listened to.

In short order he had all those things. It took only a moment to pen the letter, or rather note, and light the candle with his spirituality. As he was about to start the summoning, he suddenly stopped and everyone watched as though it looked like he ate a lemon.

"Something wrong Mr Mitchell?"

Leonard looked towards Anthony, "Just wondering if I'm going to end up dead after this."

That got everyone whispering and Anthony to raise a brow again, but Leonard ignored them and started the summoning.

"I!"
"I summon in my name!"
"The spirit that wanders the unfounded, the friendly creature that can be subordinated, the messenger that belongs to Gehrman Sparrow."

Everyone held their breath in stunned silence at hearing the name of the infamous adventurer, but all quickly turned on their spirit vision when they felt the shift in the air.

People quickly backed away from the being they saw, but none was more effected than Anthony who could tell that She was an Angel. For Gehrman to have a messenger like this…

"Good morning Miss." Leonard, after meeting her the first time made sure to be as polite as possible, he did not want to get on the bad side of an Angel.

"Good morning.""Do you.." "Have a…""Letter?"

Reinette's one head was looking at Leonard while the rest was observing the people around her.

"I do, a letter for him, and a gold pound as payment." He held out both items towards her.

Reinette didn't immediately take the letter, instead she stood still a few moments focussing on the connection between her and Klein.
"Can't…""Find…""Him…"

Leonard stilled, Can't find him? Don't tell me...

Just then, a now familiar crow with a white circle around his left eye flew in and landed on Leonard's shoulder.

Leonard, not caring what everyone around him thought, they already avoided him, looked pleading at Amon. "Please tell me he's alright?"

"Do you think I'd be here if he wasn't?" Amon snorted, slightly insulated that Leonard thinks that something could've happened so easily to his mother. "They've already left for the Forsaken Lands."

"MonMon can talk?!" Cindy yelled out what what everyone was thinking.

"It's Amon, not MonMon." Amon ruffled his feathers before looking at the saint of the cathedral, "and if Aunty Evernight had a problem with me being in Her church, I would've been kicked out a long time ago."

"Really Amon…" Leonard sighed in exasperation, but at least relaxing a bit knowing that Klein was okay, before suddenly sitting up straight. "Wait, that bastard already left and didn't even say goodbye?!"

"Leonard Mitchell, are you telling me that you have been bringing Blasphemer Amon into the church this whole time?" Anthony was far more furious now than ever before, a cold fury filled with the promise of unimaginable horrors.

Everyone froze as the feeling of horror engulfed the room, everyone except Amon, Leonard and Reinette.

"Bringing? Your Holiness, he's a King of Angels or the marauder pathway, what can I, a sequence 6 Soul Assurer, going to do against Him?"

Anthony took a deep breath, calming himself down because Leonard had a point, loathed as he was to admit it. "Anything else I should know about?"

Before Leonard could say anything Amon piped up, "Oh I know! He's been playing host to Mother's Angel of Time since before he became a Nighthawk!"

Okay, Leonard wanted to strangle Amon. He really wanted to strangle the bloody bird.

"What?" Of everything Anthony expected, that was not one of them.

Leonard tried to grab Amon, but the crow easily flew just out of reach. "Amon…" he grounded the name through his teeth. The people there already didn't trust him and the marauder Angel just made it all worse.

"Yes, Leonard?" Amon was enjoying the chaos. This was just a little bit of revenge as he couldn't be the avatar to take they're mother to the Forsaken Lands.

Leonard took a deep breath, trying to think of a way to get Amon to behave. Then it struck him, Amon was a mama's boy.

"Amon, if you don't behave, then I'll have to tell your Mother about how you're misbehaving." Leonard smiled, feeling a little smug at finding something to use against Amon.

"Oh? So you're going to pray to Mr Fool then?" Amon landed on a ledge, eagerly waiting to see the pit Leonard digs for himself.

Leonard opened his mouth almost agreeing before realising where he was and all the eyes looking at him. "Uh…well… I… I'll just tell K-Gehrman and that's as good as telling Mr Fool… because he's Mr Fool's Blessed…" Leonard trailed off.

"Gehrman? The same Gerhman you can't send a letter to because he's gone to the Forsaken Lands on a mission for Mother?"

Leonard opened his mouth to respond, but realised that he had no reply. He closed his mouth and opened it again but realised that response won't work. In the end all he achieved was impersonating a fish.

It was then that he heard a tired sigh from within if mind, followed by the Fool's honourific name. Leonard's eyes widened as he realised that Pallez, despite his claims of being Klein's Angel, had prayed to him for the first time.

Amon, who saw Leonard's eyes widening, suddenly got a bad feeling.

~~

Klein looked at everyone as they finally stepped foot on the darkened soil of the Forsaken Lands. He watched as everyone got their bearings, while all the Amon avatars merged into one.

It was then that he heard the faint whispers of an unfamiliar voice praying to him. Gathering everyone's attention he spoke, "I need to meet with Mr Fool now that we arrived."

Seeing as Gehrman Sparrow wouldn't say more than that, Klein entered the historical void before talking the steps to go above the fog.

Sitting in his throne he called over the pulsing star-like prayer light, only to see a view of a meeting room, everyone staring at Leonard who's doing a fish impression, Miss Messenger among them, one of Amon's avatars sitting on a high ledge and Pallez looking at him, meeting his gaze.

With a thought he dragged the Angel above the fog.

Pallez blinked the red from his eyes and found himself sitting at a bronze table in an ancient castle covered in fog.

He stood up and bowed to the head of the table, ever conscious of the old saying about a gods power and their benevolence. "Thank you for responding to my prayer Mr Fool."

"No need to be so formal, you know me. I'm more curious as to why you're praying to me." And he did mean it, he was his true self around Leonard, so he doesn't feel the need to put up an act in front of Pallez.

"Amon's avatar is causing problems Leonard in the Evernight's cathedral and has dragged my existence into it as well. Suffice to say, if something isn't done the boy might just end up behind a Chanis gate."

Hearing that he has a feeling what's it about. Before they left the southern continent, several of his son's avatars wanted to escort him personally, suffice to say, many ended up leaving upset.

Klein sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. Before sinking into a dream divination and seeing the whole situation for himself.

Pallez patiently waited, taking the opportunity to look around. He, and many other beyonders of the three pathways, have all dreamed of one day stepping into this very place.

"So, you've been claiming to be my Angel of Time?"

Pallez instinctively tensed up, fearing the worst, not saying anything.

Klein, seeing Pallez reaction decided to take another route, "Amon is my Beloved's Angel of Time, I do not have one of my own, the position is available if you want it."

Pallez stared wide eyed at Klein, nearly spraining his neck with how fast he spun it. "You will not punish me for impersonating one of your angels?"

"Why would I? I've been trying to figure out the best way to get you to accept the position, what with how God fearing you are. So why not since you're already pretending, why not make it official?"

Pallez thought it over, he had many reservations and worries, knows those are doubly true for high sequence seers, apprentices and marauders, but then he remembered when Amon came after him. He remembered how the Fool made Amon bow and apologise to him until He started crying.

"Alright, say I agree, as your Angel what would you expect of me?"

Klein smiled, knowing Pallez has most likely already made a decision. "For now, just continue to protect Leonard as you have been doing."

"He's quite upset that you left without warning."

Klein flinched a little at hearing that. "Yeah, I probably should have said something… I'll apologise later. So, what will it be?"

Pallez thought about it again before answering, "I'll accept."

Klein clapped his hands together. "Great. Now as for the Amon situation, can you temporarily create a low level avatar?"

Pallez narrowed his eyes, "I can."

"Great, now this is what we're going to do…"

~~

After the red faded from his mental view, Pallez started to put into action the plan Klein had come up with, and for the first time he understood where Amon got it from.

Using his focus he created the most basic of avatars right next to Leonard, shocking everyone. "That's enough Amon. Now to clear up some confusion, the Evernight Goddess is well aware of my parasiting of Leonard. It's an agreement my Lord and your Goddess."

Leonard blinked owlishly at the foreign man standing next to him, but the voice was ever so familiar.

"What arrangement?" Anthony pressed.

"The Goddess will assign one of Her Blessed to act as a liaison and my Lord would assign an Angel to protect and assist them. Coincidentally I also act as a contact point for Leonard."

"Bull-shit" Amon yelled out.

Pallez merely raised a brow, "If it was, then why did Your Mother turn His gaze here the moment I prayed? He is well aware of the situation and unless you want a repeat of last time, I advise you to stop little Princeling."

"Don't you come and 'little princeling' me you-"

"I am merely relaying my Lord's message."

"Little…""Princeling…""Is a…""Good nickname…"

"Not you too!" Amon squawked before deciding to fly away before anyone says anything.

"Hey, uh, Old Man, why did that work to get rid of Him?" Leonard was glad but also confused, which quickly changed when he got knocked on the head. "Ow!"

"When are you going to learn some respect, brat? And figure out for yourself why He reacted that way." With that said, Pallez let the avatar fade.

Seeing that things are settling down, Reinette also silently left, not that anyone was paying much attention to her.

All eyes were on Leonard. And Leonard just wanted the ground to swallow him up.

~~

Klein quickly returned to his body, and back to the rest. When he arrived he saw them all standing in the glow of an imagined light floating above Adam's head.

"Hey look, Gehrman's back."

Klein looked in Anderson's direction, who had just given the most unenthusiastic and deadpanned greeting he's ever heard. Just remember he's your grandchild's mother, just remember he's your grandchild's mother… I'm going to be a grandparent soon and I only learnt I'm a parent a few months ago.

Earlier that day when Adam arrived with Anderson in tow, the hunter had practically thrown a fit when he learnt that Mr Fool said he should go to the Forsaken Lands of the Gods with them. He only finally agreed after Ouroboros showed up and told him that it was the his and the baby's best chance of survival.

Ouroboros had also given all of them a blessing of luck, opting to stay in the Northern Continent with Medici. His reasoning was that Medici ended up in his current state because Ouroboros wasn't with him at the time.

"Yes, now let's go."

Amon skipped to the front of the group before spinning around and adjusting his monocle. "Alright humans, let this tour of Father's prescious lands begin!"

Klein looked at Amon and saw the faint blush dusting his cheeks, he was the only reason he noticed it was because as a Faceless he notices all physical details of a person. Seems like that nickname I told Pallez to use was super effective, my little Princeling.

"No dawdling, the sooner we arrive at the City of Silver, the better."

Amon raised his arms in mock surrender. "Fine, fine, I'll make sure we arrive there within a couple of hours."

Alger looked on in curiosity. Ever since they've met up, Gehrman has been the one incharge. Even the pair of ancient Kings of Angels followed his lead. What's more, the Angel of Time's avatars pulled sticks to see who was going to take the adventure.

Don't tell me, is Gehrman Sparrow and Amon in a relationship?

Alger shifted his gaze away from Gehrman and Amon and just so happens to see Adam staring right at him, and looking a little green?

'For the love of all you hold holy and dear, please do not ever think of that again. Just…don't.'

Hearing Adam's voice in his head was unnerving, but then he realised that Adam had been listening to his thoughts. The realisation had caused him to stumble, but Danitz was walking right next to him and caught him.

"Thanks."

"Anytime."

~~

They walked in relative silence, and Klein let his mind wander, thinking of all the small details when he remembered that he had never checked if everyone knew Jotun. He'd forgotten that above the fog all languages sounded the same.

"How is everyone's Jotun?"

The question came as a surprise, but both Adam and Amon quickly confirmed that they were fluent.

"Who even speaks that old dead language anyway, well except those two?" Anderson was stretching his arms above his head.

"I know a bit, started learning it after learning that's what they speak here in the Forsaken Lands." Alger answered honestly, ignoring Anderson's jab.

Klein nodded to him before looking back at Danitz who seemed lost in thought. "Blazing."

Danitz quickly looked up at Gehrman, "sorry, what?"

"Jotun, do you speak it?"

"Jotun? I'm pretty fluent. Well fluent enough for Captain Edwina to assign me as a tutor for the others." He easily responded in the language.

"Wait, so you don't know Duntanese but you do know Jotun? How's that work Danitz?" Anderson questioned in genuine curiosity.

Danitz shrugged, "I've picked up some Duntanese since leaving the Southern Continent, but languages are pretty easy compared to the other stuff Captain teaches us."

Anderson looked horrified at Danitz while Alger looked at him in new light. Klein was also surprised, but hid it under the impassable mask of Gehrman Sparrow.

As they continued walking Klein actually started to wonder if he needed to encourage Danitz speak up and ask about whatever is on his mind, but just before he finally decided to do just that, Danitz broke the silence on his own.

"Hey Gehrman?"

"Hmm."

"Can you tell me more about Mr Fool? Like I know I'm supposed to be His Oracle and all that, and where going to this Silver City place that worships Him or whatever… but won't it look bad if I don't know anything?"

Behind the mask, Klein's thoughts softened a bit, how could it not when his little Oracle is genuinely trying to be a good oracle. Wait… my little Oracle? Am I now latching onto Danitz as well? Is it because of my mythical form? No, that doesn't feel entirely right… Wait, don't the Gods use symbols so as to not be influenced by their worshippers' views of them?

Thinking on it further, Klein realised that might well be it. On a fundamental level he hasn't changed, but since meeting his son's and their views of him being their mother he has certainly become more motherly.

Klein realised that he was caught up in his thoughts to long as Danitz seemed to start lagging behind. But what could he tell him? It not like there existed holidays for a God called The Fool in the past…wait…

"You know the 1st of April, yes?"

Danitz suddenly looked back up at Gehrman. "Yeah?"

"It's called Fool's Day." Klein was aware that he had everyone's attention.

"Fool's Day?"

"Mm, it's a day to celebrate the whimsicalness in the world. Those that celebrate it are encouraged to enjoy themselves and have some harmless fun by telling jokes and pranking people, and just being all round foolish."

"So a day set aside for everyone to act…mischievously?" Alger asked in curiosity.

"Essentially yes. Then there's 1st of May, workers day. A day to commemorate workers and to remember that they too are human. People need fair working hours and living wages, as well as safe work environments, and this is a day to remember that, and a reminder to protest for these rights."

"I've heard that Backlund is making moves to change and improve work environments. But to think Mr Fool would have a holiday dedicated to it." Danitz actually quite liked the idea, and because of the changes he'd considered investing in property in the city before the war started.

"Change isn't always something that happens immediately. I have used various identities to help this along as well as help children get a better education."

"Wait, you helped bring about some of the changes in the city?"

"Yes." Klein wasn't interested in explaining the foundation he helped establish, the donations he's made, the investment in the bike industry, helping reporters navigate the poorer districts…

"Okay then…"

Klein went on to explain the concepts of different holidays and Yin-Yang to Danitz as they walked, and he noticed how Anderson acted unimpressed in the beginning, slowly started paying more attention.

Eventually they reach the outskirts of the City of Silver, the guards easily spotting them from afar due to the light, standing at the ready to great them.

"Who goes there!" They were on edge because of how short the people where as well as the odd clothing they wore, thought they did wonder what pathway they were to be able to conjure light.

Alger looked up at the city's guards, and never felt shorter, and he's used to being a bit shorter than many out at sea due to his elven blood.

Danitz suddenly felt very nervous and wished that he had a strong drink to calm said nerves.

Anderson… Anderson looked annoyed and was starting to wonder how he'd complete the ritual when he can't even understand the people. Would the technique he used in Balam work here?

Gehrman stepped forwards, taking his hat off before giving a bow. "Good day, were are guests sent here by Mr Fool. Would you be so kind as to fetch your Chief as well as Derrick Berg?" He greeted in fluent Jotun.

The guards looked between them, before looking back at the strange people. Finally after a silent conversation, one of them slowly walked to a lantern connected to a long pole.

~~

Colin Iliad was in his office going over everything, he's been wondering if he should inform the people that the city might be getting guests soon or not. He was not expecting to hear someone rushing up the stairs or the frantic knocking on his door.

Fearing the worst, he quickly got up and grabbed his swords while giving permission to the person to enter.

"Chief!" The guardsman breathed hard.

"Where's the threat?" Colin feared the worst, that one of their higher sequence adventures had lost control in the city or someone has passed away suddenly.

"The gate guards sent the signal that someone's at the gates!"

All of Colin's movements stopped. "What?"

"Chief, someone's at the gates!" The excitement on the guard's face made Colin realise that their guests might've arrived earlier than anticipated. Or it could be a new threat.

"Go, make sure everyone's ready in case this is something bad!"

"Yes, Chief!" The guard saluted before running off.

Colin left the office just as quickly, first heading to the library because that's where Derrick was. And when he entered, the young man immediately spotted him.

"Come, there's a situation by the gates."

Derrick quickly put the book down and grabbed his axe that was resting against the wall. "Coming Chief!"

Derrick immediately started getting excited, hoping it was Mr World and Mr Hanged Man from the Tarot Club. But he was also worried because Mr Fool hadn't told him anything since the meeting.

In their rush to the gate they had drawn a fair amount of attention, but there were already crowds gathering as news quickly spread the the gate sent *the* signal. The signal everyone learnt while growing up, the signal that others had found them.

When they reached the gate, Colin saw for the first time the strange people. They were shorter than he expected. There was a trio of blonds, a man with blue hair, another with a cold face and finally… "Amon."

"Nice to see you too Colin!" Amon easily greeted, giving the half giant that smile he found so infuriating and adjusting His monocle. Despite the help Amon has been providing Derrick, he doubts that he could ever forgive the Angel for what He'd done to his brother.

"Mr World! Mr Hanged Man!" Derrick pushed past him going closer to their guest, at least that's more confirmation that these are the people Derrick said would be coming.

"Hello Little Sun." Gehrman easily greeted Derrick, before turning to Colin.

"And a good day to you as well Chief Colin, allow me to introduce everyone." He greeted the man with a bow before continuing, "You already know Amon, but the blonde in priest's clothes next to Him is Adam, the Angel of Imagination and the Creator's other son."

"The gentleman with the blue hair is Alger Wilson, or as Derrick had called him, Mr Hanged Man. The blonde standing between him and Adam is Anderson Hood, and the blonde standing closer to me is Danitz Dubois, though Derrick might be more familiar with him as Mr Strength."

"As for myself, this face is known as Gerhman Sparrow and I am Mr World." Klein had decided not to hide his faceless abilities. He had a feeling that by the end of this trip it would be revealed that he is Mr Fool, and as a seer he always trusted his intuition. So why not set the stage ahead of time?

Colin, being ever observant of any and all possible threats, easily picked up on the wording. "What exactly do you mean by 'this face'?"

"One of the specialties of my pathway is shapeshifting, the ability to become anything, or anyone."

Colin was a bit surprised at that, not familiar with such a pathway. But a little memory came to the forefront of his mind, not too long ago he had hunted a Bizarro Bane with Derrick. Had that creature been one of the ingredients for this man.

"Let's head inside, we can talk more there." They were starting to draw a crowd.

As they started walking, there were groups of people gathering to look at them, some closer than others. Klein easily walked through it all thanks to his self control as a clown.

Is this how animals feel at a zoo? At least my Little Crow is enjoying Himself. The Angel in question is was waving at the people staring, easily charming plenty of them like the experienced swindler he is. Adam on the other hand… My Little Dragon, do you have social anxiety?

'I merely do not enjoy being observed by this many people Mother. I wish to be invisible right now but that would be counterproductive.'

Hearing his son mentally answer his question, Klein fought to keep the smile from his face. It'll get better once we get to the towers.

"Oi, Blazing, what are they all talking about while pointing at us?" He heard Anderson whisper.

"Nothing much, just some stuff about how short you are." And he could definitely hear the smirk on Danitz's face as he softly replied.

"Bull, come on Danny, don't be like that."

"It's true." Alger decided to pipe in as well.

Luckily the walk to the towers went relatively peacefully, and they were soon situated in an office.

"I apologise for the people, I hadn't announced anything to them yet, and when the guards gave the signal that new people were at the gate, their curiosity got the better of them."

"Understandable considering the situation, but before we continue…" Gehrman reached into the historical void and pulled out a translation charm, tossing it to Anderson, and the hunter easily caught it.

"Wait, you had this the the whole time?! Why didn't you give it to me earlier?"

"It's a historical projection. Now use it." He glared at the hunter who swallowed down his sudden fear before using it.

"What was that?" Colin questioned wearily.

"A translation charm, Anderson doesn't know Jotun."

"And taking it out of nowhere? Is it a mystical artifact or an ability?"

"It's the main ability of a sequence 3 Scholar of Yore. We can retrieve anything we're familiar with from the Historical Void."

"That sounds dangerous."

"It is."

It was quiet for a few moments as Colin collected his thoughts. "I have already had rooms prepared, but there seems to be more of you than expected. Some of you will have to share until it can be rectified, currently there are only 4."

"Anderson and Adam can share, Danitz and I, Alger can take one and Amon the other." Gehrman easily answered for all of them. Anderson was not surprised about getting paired with Adam, and neither was Danitz with his, and Alger was just happy he didn't have to share.

"Alright, now, are you all aware of the danger the darkness here holds? How important it is to keep a light going?"

"No? What do you mean the darkness is dangerous?" Anderson was the first to respond.

Gehrman turned to look at him. "Keep a light going or you'll die. I'm sure I don't need to tell you why that's important." He better be smart enough because so help me I'll use my full authority over the spirit world to find an strangle your soul if something happens to that baby.

"For your own safety and my piece of mind I need to know how quickly you can light a candle if it were to go out." While saying this Colin took out a candle from a drawer, setting it on the table.

Without hesitating, Klein snapped his fingers using flame control to light the candle, before snapping it again to extinguish it.

"That's…handy…"

Klein only nodded in response.

Danitz, instead of lighting the candle summoned up a few Firebirds, "Would this work?"

"As longs as it keeps darkness away, then yes." Colin kept his eyes on the bird, wondering if this was the fire of a Fire Mage.

"In that case, I'm good too." Anderson responded summoning up Firebirds as well, one more than Danitz.

Alger looked at the candle he was wondering how he would quickly light it when he heard the thunder outside, giving him an idea. Using the metal rings he's wearing as conduits, he conjures up lightning and have it coat his hand.

He was followed by Adam imagining light above his hand like the one they used walking to the city, and Amon only reached out and stole a current lit candle from the wall.

Colin was both concerned and in awe. The only one in the city capable of conjuring any form of light was Derrick, yet these people were doing it as well.

"Alright… that works." Colin took a deep breath, this was a completely foreign experience for him and he was working on instincts. "Can you tell me your sequences so I know what I'm working with? Also we'll need to get you fitted for proper armour if you're going to survive here. And what the current plan to help us?"

Everyone looked towards Gehrman, he's taken the lead thus far and the only one who actually knows the plan.

"Alger is a sequence 5 Ocean Songster of the Tyrant pathway. He will be the one captaining the ship once the gates are opened."

"Amon and Adam are Sequence 1 Kings of Angels as you probably know from the Creator's Bible. Adam will be staying here to assist Anderson while Amon's main task will be to guide the people of Moon city here."

"Anderson and Danitz are both of the Red Priest pathway, the Angel Medici's path. Anderson is a sequence 5 Reaper and in the coming months complete his ritual to become a Demigod. Danitz is a Sequence 6 Conspirator and will be Alger's vice captain when the time comes. Until then he will be focusing on learning how to be Mr Fool's Divine Oracle."

"As for myself, I am a sequence 3 Scholar of Yore of the Fool pathway. In the next few months I intend to hunt down the Ancient God Annihilation Demonic Wolf Flegrea's last remaining subsidiary God, Kotar the God of Wishes."

"You intend to have us hunt a God?!" Colin was immediately outraged, the shock of that immediately making him forget the revelation that one among them that The Fool's Oracle.

"You misheard. I will be hunting Kotar. His heart is the main ingredient for my next potion."

"You are only sequence 3 and you intend to hunt on your own? Do you have some special artifact to help you?" Colin stared wide eyed at Gehrman, while the rest, though interested, aren't all that surprised, and the chief picked up on that.

"None of you seem surprised, thought now that I think about it, you all probably knew already."

"Actually we didn't, but it's not really a surprise. I'm sure we've all seen Gerhman kill beyonders above his sequence before. I mean Anderson and I were in West Balam when he took down that rampaging Demigod on his own, and he was Sequence 5 then." Danitz decided to clarify.

"I actually saw him take down a sequence 5 beyonder creature in less than 3 seconds before the Balam incident happened." Alger helpfully added.

"I'm used to hunting those of higher sequence in my own pathway. When I was sequence 9 I killed a sequence 7, when I was sequence I killed a sequence 5. Hunting a sequence 2 should prove entertaining." Because of course that is how a mad adventure and bounty hunter should think. Besides facing a sequence 2 would be a cakewalk compared to staring down a True God.

"That's… terrifying…"

"See Chief, Mr World really is as amazing as I told you!"

Notes:

Cindy: okay, we all have a ton of questions but why is Mr Fool call a He but also Mother? Shouldn't it be She and Mother or He and Father?

Leonard: (deadpanned) Mr Fool prefers masculine pronouns but doesn't care for gender roles so His children call him Mother... I should've just slept in this morning and skip this meeting.

In the Forsaken Lands

Klein sneezes.
