Chapter Text
Osamu looks at his phone ring and then proceeds to look at Akaashi who immediately knew the news Kenma blurted out was right.
Osamu responds with a heavy feeling in his stomach, “Yes Tsumu?”
“HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEWS WE GOT A NEW WING SPIKER!!” His brother shouts through his phone making the man pull it away from his ear.
“Yeah actually I’m kinda in a meeting about that.” Osamu chuckles lightly looking at the two people stare at him through a phone screen.
“Akaashi tell him to put it on speaker now.” Whisper shouts Kuroo trying to see what the blonde setter has to say.
“A meeting?? Who are you with??” Atsumu begins to question.
“Ummm well if you promise not to freak out I’ll tell you.” Osamu responds while looking at Kenma and Akaashi for confirmation.
Kenma lightly nods as he’s starting to realize this new setter being introduced might be a little too much for him.
“Okay hold on I’m going to put you on speaker.” Osamu proceeds to put his brother on speaker and sets the phone lightly on the table next to Akaashi’s laptop. The room is filled with an awkward silence with no feeling of being relieved at any time, finally Kuroo speaks through the laptop speaker.
“Atsumu?” He asks a little too timidly.
“UMM who are you? And how do you know my name?” Atsumu asks with a slight panic in his voice.
“OMG, ughhh so I’m with Akaashi right now.” Osamu blurts out to explain a little bit of the situation.
“Okay but that doesn’t sound like Akaashi so who is that? Also Hi Akaashi”
“Hi Atsumu.” Responds Akaashi with a slight blush making Osamu chuckle.
“So we’re on the phone with his best friend and his boyfriend.”
“Okayyy still lost here.”
“This is where you don’t freak out, okay promise.”
“I promise”
“Remember Kuroo?”
“The one with the crazy hair from the players association? Why?”
“So we’re on the phone with him and his boyfriend.”
“Why would I freak out about Kuroo?”
“His boyfriend is Kenma.”
The room is filled with silence again and a click making it obvious Atsumu probably put his phone on silent.
“Hi, I'm back. Quick question to Akaashi, how do you know them?”
“Kenma is my best friend so Kuroo unfortunately comes with him.” Throwing a small jab making Kenma chuckle.
“Okay okay but why are y’all in a phone call together?” Atsumu questions again.
“Akaashi wasn’t responding to me this morning and I knew he went out with your brother so I wanted to make sure he wasn’t murdered.” Kenma said, making Atsumu click on his mute button yet again.
“Hi, I'm back again, Kenma big fan. I don't miss any of your streams. Anyways Osamu wouldn’t murder anyone but I’m glad to see Akaashi has someone who cares for him like I care for Osamu.” Atsumu responds quickly and making Osamu blush with his response now it was Akaashi’s turn to chuckle.
“But anyways why are y’all talking about Bokuto?” the blonde man questions.
The room got quiet with no one knowing how to respond. Osamu knew he didn't want Atsumu to have a negative image of his new teammate, but knew he would be upset if he wasn't told what type of person he was. He knew his relationship or whatever this was with Akaashi was new but he really did see something with him. The feeling of comfort and happiness is what he was looking for and it came so easily to them. Osamu glanced at Akaashi and knew he had the same look on his face of not knowing what to say and even Kuroo and Kenma had worried looks. Osamu took Akaashi’s hand and knew they could vaguely just say it was Akaashi’s ex and leave it at that but he didn't know much about the break up except of what was said last night and if Akaashi was hiding from Bokuto he didn’t want his loud mouth brother to say anything about him to his new teammate.
“He’s my ex.” Blurts out Akaashi not handling the silence any longer.
“Oh.”
“Yeah but I would appreciate it if you don’t mention it to him that you know who I am or anything. Well not that it will come up right Atsumu?” Akaashi says with a little menacing tone.
“Yes of course but I wanted to invite you to my next game, I didn't know if you knew but Osamu always sets up a stand to sell onigiri so I figured you would tag along.”
“Well if he stays with Osamu most of the game and sits at the top I’m sure Bokuto wouldn’t notice him.” Interjects Kuroo trying to make sure everyone is happy in this situation.
“I was planning on going and bringing Kenma along so he could see Akaashi but Kenma wouldn't be able to sit with Akaashi because he’ll know.”
“Who said I wanted to go on a trip?” Kenma quickly said, knowing damn well he wanted to see Akaashi soon.
“Shhh you know you want to go see your other boyfriend.”
“Not to be rude to Atsumu or anything but I can just stay with Akaashi and Osamu.” Responds Kenma happily because he’s going to see Akaashi.
“Yeah that shouldn’t be a problem but if Bokuto sees me he’ll ask about y’all.” Kurro quickly responds.
“Wait, do y'all not talk anymore?” Asks Akaashi.
“Not really, it didn’t sit right with me what he did to you and I pick you over him any day even if you're mean to me.”
Hearing this of course made Osamu even more curious of the break up but also made him happy that Akaashi had a sweet friend group that cared for him a lot. It reminded him a lot of how Kita and Aran are with him.
“Hmm I don’t want to pry a lot but is he a bad person? I won’t set to him if he is.” Asks Atsumu, breaking Osamu of his thoughts.
“No he’s not a bad person we just didn’t have a good break up and of course I don’t want to cloud your head with any bad thoughts of him.” Akaashi immediately responded.
“Okay but if he is a bad person I won’t let you date Osamu because you lied to me.” Said Atsumu half convinced about his new teammate.
“So Kuroo and Kenma are y’all gonna stay with me?” Asks Akaashi with a sly smile.
