Chapter Text
*Jingles can be heard from the inside of the daycare.*
The solar animatronic hummed the theme that echoed through the area. He was finished neatening up the area. He huffed in accomplishment. It was 8:30, which means it was almost time for opening.
Sun waited near the security desk. He was messing with Moon Plush on the counter.
“I wonder what human is going to come today,” he mumbled to himself.
Ever since Moon’s… disappearance, dealing with the kids has been a bit difficult. Thankfully Fazbear has been graceful enough to use some of the money to hire daycare helpers. He smiled at the Moon plush in front of him. “Let’s hope they aren’t stuck up like the one from yesterday.”
The plushie stared back knowingly.
“I know! That guy was really REALLY getting on my nerves. Hopefully today—”
“SUUUNNNNN.” A woman’s voice could be heard from the other side of the huge doors. “Can you please unlock the door?”
If Sun were human, he would have been frowning. He pushes the door open. “Hi…Mika,” he grumbled.
Mika was a blue haired menace of a coworker. She only wanted the job to meet her favorite animatronic too bad he isn’t here right now. Sun always wondered how she got this job when she can’t remember to bring the keys. Sometimes he wished she would die leave.
“Has Moon been found yet?” she said.
Sun looked around like he was expecting Moon to magically appear in front of him. “What do you think?”
She huffed as she placed her bags in the compartment behind. She looked at the planner.
Friday: Fun with Pipe Cleaners!
Mika looked at Sun. “You know what pipe cleaners are, right?”
“Of course! I did extensive research on them. Did you know that they’re—”
“Yeah, yeah whatever. Just, like, don’t go stabbing people with them.”
Sun gasped. “w-w-w-WHAT?!”
“I know deep inside you have the urge to kill.” She put her hand on Sun's chest.
“When have I ever—actually don’t answer that,” Sun said. He placed his plushie behind the desk and shooed her hand away.
“It’s safe for kids. They’re not even big enough to hurt them!”
“Ohhhhh, you mean the kiddie pipe cleaners!”
Sun questioned Mika’s intelligence. Who would give kids regular sized pipe cleaners?!
“Why would I — WHAT — “
“You know, the small ones?”
“OF COURSE I MEAN THE SMALL ONES, YOU… you… Sorry about that, where were we?”
“0_0 Anyway… You know that plush isn’t him, right?”
Sun rolled his eyes. “I know.” He was not in the mood for these types of conversations early in the day.
It was time to get to work.
~~
Fun with Pipe Cleaners!
Sun found it odd that an interesting craft would be found with something as peculiar as pipe cleaner. Sun didn’t mind, of course; they made great crafts for the kids.
“Tada!” Sun exclaimed. He holds out an orange and yellow butterfly.
The children looked in awe.
“Mr. Sun, can you please show me again?” One of the kids asked.
“I need help too!” said another kid at a different table.
Sun looks around to see Mika on her phone like always. He sighs, ”I-I’ll be right over.” Sun walks over to Mika.
“Can you help the other table, please?” Sun whispered.
“I don’t know how to make one.” Mika looked up at him.
“You can look it up. I can give you tips.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be the one who handles these things? I'm just here to make sure you are in check.”
“You’re what?”
“Yeah, I changed my job to security, like, a week ago. You're on your own now, sunny boy.”
The doors to the daycare open and parents are there to pick up their kids. Mika immediately left to speak to them.
It took about 15 minutes for Sun to reteach the making of his creation, but at last he could sit back and watch. On one table, a group of girls were making friendship bracelets for each other. Another was making the same butterfly he created. There was even a table trying to make what Sun assumed was a stickman.
Sun was messing with the pipe cleaners in his hands when felt a tug at his pant leg. Next to him was a small girl holding a Sun plush. He squats down to meet her level. “What do you need Evelyn?”
She looked left and right and whispered. “I saw someone near the daycare.”
“Of course, there are others. We're not the only people in this area.”
She shook her head. “It was an animatronic. They were like,” she stretched her arms above her head, “this tall. Basically the height of you.”
Sun pondered her statements. Most of the Glamrocks didn’t come here often, especially since it’s work hours. Even then, the other animatronics are all smaller than him (unless you count Bonnie’s ears). Maybe there’s a new animatronic? He would probably have gotten a notice about it from Fazbear. Not like he looks at the emails.
Evelyn started fiddling with her plush.
He noticed her nervousness and patted her head.
“I’ll let security know! Can't have any animatronics out of their area at this time of day.” Sun stood up,”Why don’t you go play with the others?” :)
Evelyn hummed in agreement. She sees the table making the stickman. She goes run over to them.
“I can help!”
~
Mika is on her break which means Sun was now the sole helper.
The children were all huddled up in one area of the daycare. Sun walked over to the light switch to turn on night mode. He used a flashlight to light up himself.
“Today’s story involves a little girl,” Sun lifts up the humanoid puppet. She had a small makeshift red hood on. Sun put a lot of effort into making it. Before Sun could continue, the booing began.
“I already heard this one.”
“Well, Jamie, others might not have,” Sun replied.
The child huffed and groaned.
Sun was about to start again but he saw a little raise by one of the kids.
“Do you have any other stories?”
The other kids nodded in agreement. Sun hummed and and dropped the puppets on the ground. He looked over the kids. Seems like most of these kids are veteran daycare attendees.
“How many of you want me to change the story?”
All the kids raised their hands.
Sun pulled some puppets and items from the pile next to him.
“How about Hansel and Gretel?”
“Nooo,” the children chimed.
“Snow White?”
“Nuh uh.”
Sun rummaged through the pile. “Oh, this one is my favorite! The Wizard of-”
“You already told that one on Tuesday,” one of the kids said.
“I… I guess I did,” Sun mumbled. Sun thought for a moment. There must be another story he could use, but what.
“Why don’t you guys choose? You have 5 minutes,” He was going to regret this.
~
A gasp could be heard from the group of children. Many ideas were being thrown around, with none really sticking.
As Sun packed up his pile of puppets into a neat pile, the lights that lit up the daycare at night flickered. It was not abnormal for this to happen, but it has been happening more often. He was going to have to fix it sometime soon.
“We’re ready Mr. Sun,” one of the children said.
“Ok, so what have you chosen?”
“A play! Just like the ones you used to do with Mr. Moon.”
Sun stuttered out, ”Moon… Moon is… busy. He won’t be able to visit right now.”
There was an audible noise of dissatisfaction within the group, some of them clearly far angrier than others. They started throwing their complaints to Sun. If it wasn’t for the fact that they are children, he would have yelled back.
“Naughty Naughty Children, ” Sun thought. He was not going to deal with this for another 10 minutes. Just as he was about to get up the lights flickered. This time, however, it didn’t turn back on.
He immediately put on his glow feature. “I-It’s going to be alright.”
In the daycare there was loud crying, whispers, and the nighttime daycare theme. Sun tried to comfort the children to no avail. Sun felt something behind his back, but when he looked, he could see only a few feet in front of him. This would be a really good time to have nighttime vision. Sun was about to contact Computer when he heard the door to the daycare open.
“Long long ago there was a man and his son,” a mysterious figure said.
The mysterious figure had a glow feature just like him. It was on their body and part of their clothes. The figure reached the front of the group and grabbed the flashlight.
“They were both trapped on an island by the dreaded Springtrap.” They flashed the light to a tiny green bunny figure.
Sun was surprised about how quickly the children quieted down. He was even more surprised at the story being told. Out of all the stories programmed into him, he had never heard of this one before.
“To escape, they use the feathers of a bird,” they shine the light to the feather in his hand,” sticks, and wax to make wings.”
The dull lights flickered back to reveal more of the person’s features. They were a lunar model a bit lighter than Moon’s. They looked the exact same as him except for the arm warmers and some fancy cape thing around their neck. They stood on top of one of the barrels moving their arms like a mad man.
“SWOOSH, THEY MAKE IT OFF THE ISLAND!”
The crowd gasped. One child raised their hands. “What happens to him next!”
Sun was confused to say the least. The animatronic looked and sounded just like Moon, but the way he held himself begged to differ. As much as Moon helped with the kids, he wasn’t this involved, or energetic. Who was this?
~~~
Moon finally got the last of the children to sleep. Smiled fondly at them as he got up. He saw Sun hanging out at the desk. He was messing around with something.
Sun noticed that Moon was getting closer. He dropped the doll down and turned to face him.
“T-Thanks for helping... Moon?” Sun said awkwardly.
Moon tilted their head to the side. His face was unrecognizable before chuckling to himself. He held his hand out to Moon.
“You’re welcome, you must be that Sun I’ve heard about.”
“I suppose so.”
An awkward silence filled the air. Only the small snores break it.
“Oh, I almost forgot! Here is some of the paperwork for my employment.” Moon magically pulls out the paperwork from who knows where and gives it to Sun.
The paperwork was… odd, to say the least. All of this was weird. Sun shouldn’t even be getting these papers, management would. Technically speaking, Moon shouldn’t even have to fill this out. He’s an animatronic, for goodness sake!
“Also I’m moving in in two days so the place better be clean or we’re gonna have problems,” Moon said matter-of-factly.
Sun looked up to him trying not to show his discomfort to the newcomer. He was messing with his arm warmers. Before he could ask, Mika busted through the doors.
“MOOON!” Mika said loudly.
“Shhh!”
“Sorry,” she said. She ran to the two animatronics. She inspected the lunar bot and hugged him.
“Omg baby girl! I’ve been waiting for you! Come with me.”
With that Sun was alone again. He looked at his plushie.
“Do you think she knows?”
The plushie stared back knowingly.
