Moving On
The One With Rachel’s Goodbye Party
As her goodbye party wrapped up, Monica pulled Rachel aside.
“Rach, will you come to the next therapy appointment with us?”
Rachel nodded. Definitely. I’m so worried about Joey. What time is it?”
“I’ll call Joey’s therapist first thing on Monday morning and will call you as soon as it’s scheduled.”
Rachel nodded. “Great, thanks Mon.”
On Monday at 3 pm, Chandler, Monica, Joey, Rachel and Joey’s parents, sat around a table in the conference room at the therapist’s office.
Dr. Rapini cleared his throat. “Thank you all for coming this afternoon. I appreciate the flexibility in your schedules.”
Mrs. Tribanni smiled at Chandler. “Chandler, we could not be more grateful for all you and Monica have done for Joey.”
Chandler smiled sadly. “You’re very welcome Mrs. Tribbianni. Unfortunately this situation has become too stressful for us to handle on our own, especially after what happened at the party on Friday night.”
Rachel had tears in her eyes. “We had no idea that the news of my move had caused him to spiral so much. He almost jumped off our balcony.”
“I didn’t mean to scare you guys.” Joey whispered.
Monica sighed. “We know, but this kind of thing can’t happen anymore. We love you so much but you need help that we can’t give you.”
Joseph Tribbiani Sr cleared his throat.
“Monica’s absolutely right.” He stared his son directly in the eye. “Joe, listen to me, Gina called last night. She said that once your lease is up you can move in with her and Michael in Los Angeles. We can work on mailing your resume out to California casting agents, all right.”
Joey nodded slowly, “Okay, that sounds good.”
“We’re all here for you, Joey,” Monica reassured him. “We love you so much and just want you to get better.”
