It had been many years since Kuriko was “born.” Kusuo had taken much of a liking to his adopted child, who was identical to him. She really was just like him when he was little. Very calm child, never too whiny, but obviously full of childlike joy. She would be nearing the age where her Medusa-like powers would start to set in. He got paralyzed for a minute the other day. So they went into town to get her some glasses.
Okay, then, what do you think of these? They’re simple.
“No, I don’t really like the color. Too much pink.”
That makes sense. What about these slightly green ones?
“They look like yours.”
|”Is that my buddy from high school?”|
Is that Nendo?
“Heyy, buddy! Long time no see! How’s it been? Oh, you’ve got a kid with you.”
Yes, she’s my daughter.
“Oh, where’s her mom?”
Adoptive daughter.
“Hey, but she looks a lot like you. What’s that about?”
She’s also my niece.
“Wait, but you said-”
Play along, please.
Kuriko pouted a little bit. “Anyways, I was talking to Kaido the other day. Finally moved out of his mom’s house. Aren’s his sugar daddy. Naw, I’m just messing around. But they do live together. Man, I really thought they wouldn’t last…”
Nendo droned on and on. Eventually Kuriko looked him in the eyes. He stayed paralyzed for a bit. “He looked scary and was starting to get annoying. I want these glasses.” Alright then. I know, I had to deal with him for three years. Eight, actually. So, these? “Yes, those.”
Kuriko chose simple thin-framed glasses that had blue-green at the end. Kusuo bought them.
“Hey, buddy, where’d you go? I didn’t even tell you about how Mera nearly-”
Let’s get out of here.
~~~
On their way to the grocery store, Kusuo saw some random blue-haired lady walk out of the back door of a cafe with a couple of security guards and-
She saw him.
Damnit. First Nendo, now Teruhashi? Who’s next, Kaido?
“Oh, hi Saiki! What a coincidence!” For fuck’s sake, it’s like high school all over again. Why are these people all reappearing? Damn you, writer! If it wasn’t enough to force me into that whole thing all those years ago! [Ha ha. Get rekt.] “Is this your daughter? How cute!” Teruhashi leaned over slightly to Kuriko. “Do I know you, ma’m?”
|”Who is this little girl calling ‘ma’m’?”| “Well, how’s everything gone lately?” said Teruhashi to Kusuo. Okay, I suppose. Kuriko, please don’t petrify her, those security guards would not be fun to deal with. I’ve got Kuriko here, and we were on our way to the grocery store. “Oh, you were on your way to the grocery store? Well then, I’ll leave you be. Nice seeing you again, Saiki! Now, boys, where’s the car?” asked Teruhashi. “Right this way, miss,” responded one of her bodyguards.
Okay, now that we’re in a place where my brother can’t spy on us, I have a plan to get back at him. You’re involved because his weak-field works through my power-controlling antenna, and you don’t have antenna yet. So…
