Chapter Text

Tenya hadn't really known what to expect when he asked his brother about what happened.

All he had been told beforehand was that he had been attacked. So of course he was understandably shocked when he found out that Tensei's attacker was none other than the Hero Killer Stain.

He was even more shocked when his brother told him about the boy.

Apparently he was around Tenya's age, although possibly a bit younger judging by his height, and he was the only reason Tensei was alive.

Tensei told him of how Stain had been about to deliver the final blow when a teenager with brilliant green hair had appeared. He had approached the Hero Killer with zero hesitation and after  offering him an alliance, had turned his back on the stunned murderer and dragged the injured hero away before disappearing into the shadows the moment another hero had arrived.

And of course Tenya was grateful for this boy. Extremely so. But he couldn't help but wonder just what he was doing there in the first place. And just why would he offer Stain a deal?

There was no other answer. Despite him saving Tensei's life, he must have been a villain.

And Tenya prayed that he would never encounter him; he didn't want to have to take down the one who ensured that he didn't lose his brother forever.

They once again had the day off school and since his parents had to work, Hitoshi found himself in his boyfriend's living room. Questioning what on earth was wrong with the Shigaraki family. Again.

As it was, Denki was introducing Hitoshi to his niece. Niece. Since when did he have a niece? Well, apparently for less than a day.

She was shy and quite frankly adorable, but Hitoshi had very little experience with children and was utterly clueless about what to do in this situation.

Surely there must be some kind of guide for this? Right? Right?

There was not. Hitoshi was very certain about this. He had scoured every internet forum and fallen into so many rabbit holes he was beginning to lose count.

But no. Nowhere online was there any information on what to do when being introduced to a little girl who had been rescued from an abusive home by a villain. All Hitoshi had gained was a vast amount of irrelevant information about wombats and a computer virus from a particularly shady website.

Thankfully Denki had forewarned him that his family had adopted another young child, just not that it was Izuku who had done it. Because of this warning Hitoshi had already taken the liberty of buying a pink cat plushie in an attempt to win her over.

And luckily his attempt seemed to be working, judging by the way her face lit up when he gave it to her.

"Hello small person, I'm, uh, I'm Hitoshi. What's your name?"

"E-Eri, Mr Hitoshi."

"Uh, hi Eri. You don't need to say the Mr, just Hitoshi is fine." He glanced sideways at Denki, who gave him a thumbs up, before continuing. "Do you, erm, do you like the plushie?"

Eri nodded frantically, eyes wide and grin even wider.

"I'm glad. Um, what do you want to do? There's some good shows on TV, or we could play a game, or anything else you wanna do really." Hitoshi said, pleased to be getting somewhere.

The little girl hesitated, mouth hanging open and looking pensive as she considered the options. "Hmmm..." Then she reached a conclusion. "Let's play a game! I don't know which one though..."

This girl was a Shigaraki. That much Hitoshi was certain of. No other six year old would be able to create this amount of chaos in such a short time. And Eri seemed to be revelling in it. Gone was the shy girl from earlier, she had clearly taken well to her new role as a Shigaraki.

Sensing his daughter's (and wasn't that just crazy to think about?) uncertainty, Izuku had appeared from nowhere to help her pick. And, like the chaos-eating gremlin he is, he of course chose the worst possible option.

Uno.

Why did it have to be uno?? Why couldn't he have chosen something like snakes and ladders?

And to make matters worse, Tomura had insisted he join too. He claimed it was to show Eri how to really play uno but Hitoshi had his doubts. And he was very concerned.

It had taken upwards of twenty minutes for Eri to understand the rules (no thanks to Tomura teaching her how to cheat 'Cheat codes are completely within the rules as long as you don't get caught'), and she'd relied on Izuku a lot for her first few plays.

Soon, however, she became more confident in herself and by the end of the first game she was a force to be reckoned with.

Hitoshi: pick up four

Eri: pick up eight

Hitoshi: pick up twelve

Eri: pick up sixteen

Hitoshi: ughhhh. Fine

Eri: pick up twenty eight card, or... say you like All Might

Tomura: ...

Tomura: pass me the pile, Chibi

Denki: Pikachu! I chose you!

Hitoshi: wait, where did the pokemon cards come from?

Eri: Bulbasaur! Defend!

Eri: *chucks a Bulbasaur plushie at Denki*

Hitoshi: where did that plushie come from? I swear that wasn't there earlier

Izuku: pick up four and give me your charizard

Eri: Daddy! look! I won again!

Izuku: well done baby!

Tomura: ergh, fuck this shit

Eri: fuck!

Denki: le gasp!

Hitoshi: did you seriously just say 'le gasp'?

Eri: shit!

Denki: Tomuchan, you taught the baby how to swear! how could you?

Izuku: I'm so proud of you Eri!

Izuku: reverse

Eri: reverse

Izuku: reverse

Eri: reverse

Hitoshi: ... I'm going to sleep, Denki wake me when they run out of reverses

Izuku: reverse

Eri: reverse

Denki: ... Imma join you Toshi. Tomura, wake us up when this is over

Tomura did not in fact wake them up. Instead he got up and left. The two boys slept for an hour and woke up with beards drawn on their faces, Izuku and Eri long gone.

All in all, they played eleven games of uno. Denki didn't win a single one, Hitoshi and Tomura each won a single round, Izuku had won three and somehow, despite never having played it before, Eri won six.

Despite the chaos and sheer amount of uno cards that Tomura destroyed with his quirk, Hitoshi found himself enjoying the day. It was full on but he wouldn't have changed anything and Hitoshi found himself relaxing around this strange family.

Perhaps relaxing too much around them, if the permanent ink on his face was anything to go on.

Half an hour of scrubbing his face raw and the pen had barely faded.

Hitoshi only hoped that it came off before school the next day, due to the Sports Festival, he suspected he would be getting a lot of attention and stares on his way to UA.

Notes:

I know nothing about children. The only children I interact with are family, and even then I only see them about twice a year. So I have no idea how to write children or how to write people interacting with them.

I also don't know much about uno. Or pokemon.

So, first chapter done, let my know if you have any thoughts.
