Chapter Text
"Fuck."
Peter's so screwed. Like super, mega, ultra screwed.
He didn't mean to fall asleep with Wade here and he really didn't mean to let him clean his apartment.
Wade has seen his things.
His totally not manly things.
God he's screwed.
It just felt so nice last night! Being able to lay under his bed and listen to Wade move around his apartment calmed something deep within him. But now, it's like he's sitting on a live wire.
Scooting backwards from underneath his bed, Peter is as silent as possible as he looks around to see what has been touched.
Shirts, Skirts, and dresses, piled in the back of his closet, folded weighted blanket at the end of his bed, and, his favorite headband, sitting front and center on his pillow. God, and that's just his bedroom, he's so screwed.
Speed-walking as quietly as he can, Peter enters the kitchen with a plan.
They say the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach and quite frankly Peter can't think of literally anything else. Turning on the eye, Peter sets to work on, hopefully his best stack of pancakes ever.
After the third failed pancake flip Wade decides to let his presence be known.
In a soft tone, "Hey there tiger, feelin' better?"
"Feelin' better!", Peter echoes just a little louder than he expected. "Uh, I mean, thank you 'pool, seriously."
Simply smiling back at him, Wade sits down to eat the impromptu breakfast.
It's a quiet affair as Peter and Wade chow down but Peter's thoughts are running rampant.
Wade hasn't said anything, there is always a chance he didn't really see anything. He might have just threw the stuff in the closet, no snooping involved. Or maybe Wade has decided Peter is a little too weird and he's just waiting to make his great escape. Or he's trying to find a way to gently let him down.
Unbeknownst to him, Peter began to sway side to side, side to side, humming a tiny note.
Wade on the other hand saw it all happen real time. Letting him do what he needs to Wade doesn't say a thing until they are both finished eating.
"Thank you baby girl, I'll get outta your hair, yeah?", getting up Wade moves towards the window until Peter makes a wounded noise and before he can fully turn around, Peter is at his side.
Looking at his ear, Peter steels himself and asks the question he doesn't want the answer to.
"Am I too weird for you?"
"…what?"
"Am I too weird for you? I'm just asking because let's be honest, the autism thing was too much, right? I mean you have been so nice about it but you can only act so kind before it gets too weird right, I mean the bouncing, the hand flapping, then the verbal shutdown, god, that was it wasn't it? I mean-"
"Baby girl you know I have voices in my head, right?"
"-No, no it was the girly things, wasn't it? You were so nice about it the first time and I promise I didn't mean to get caught the second time, and I tried to hide it, I really did! I mean I guess it is a part of me y'know? So, I don't know why I expected myself to be able to turn it off, but I really wanted you to like me! But you don't have to lie anymore 'pool I get it, truly I do and if-"
Placing his hand gently on the side of his face, Wade fully interrupts. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, lets slow down quite a bit tiger. I'm gonna speak, kay? good.
First, we don't lie to each other, right?" Peter nods," Exactly, so I don't appreciate being accused of lying. Seeing you dance around in your dress was the cutest thing on Earth, I could probably fart rainbows and glitter about it, and if it means you are a little more than my sweet baby boy then so be it!
I've got voices in my head for, Thor's sake baby girl, I promise you that you cannot outweird me any day. I don't know what's going through that head of yours, but we could probably figure it out much quicker if you tell me what's goin' on…"
Thoroughly chastised, Peter apologizes and lets loose.
He starts with the confusion that is his gender and makes his way around to everything that's been sitting on his chest the past few months. The headband, the panic isolation, understanding his feelings for Wade, the resurfacing of deep-rooted insecurity he thought was gone, the verbal shutdown, all of it.
By the end of his explanation, Peter's swaying back and forth on the couch as Wade kneels in front of him. For a moment no one speaks, letting the words, truly sink in before Wade exhales and plops to the floor.
"Well, I guess this is both of our faults isn't, it?" He laughs, as Peter whips his head up.
Looking in Peter's direction but not forcing any eye contact, "For the record tiger, I've 'like liked' you since our very first patrol."
"Oh."
"yeah 'oh' you goof," Wade sighs, "I didn't bring it up since I loved just being able to be your friend, but I guess we could have avoided this all together, huh?"
Lifting his arms, "do you want a hu-oof!"
Having leaped directly in his lap, Peter grips on tight, shoving his head directly in his chest. That's why he feels the gentle rumble of his chest as Wade laughs at his antics.
Before he gets too shy, Peter asks, "…?"
"What'd you say baby girl?"
"…Kiss?"
"Kiss."
