So the boy gathers up enough confidence to ask Hirose to go to the amusement park.

Then the entire class butted in.

Notes:

I love these two so dearly. Nakamura may give me second hand embarrassment some times, but I love him.

Chapter 1: Failed Invite

Chapter Text

Sensei-Yamagiwa’s lessons went through one ear and out the other. Nakamura’s eyes were locked onto the beauty sitting ahead of him, gorgeous light brown hair, similar eyes.

Also, his first semi-successful crush in Upper Secondary School.

Hirose Aiki ♡

The two boys had become official friends after their school Trip to Yokohama.

Much to Nakamura's surprise because Hirose had considered them friends for a while now.

But now, he had a plan in mind.

Build up enough confidence to ask Hirose-kun to go with Nakamura to the amusement park this weekend!

Amazing, right? He know's

There was nothing Nakamura particularly enjoyed at the amusement park, all the octopus related areas were for young children. Not for the teenagers who act—no, look all edgy.

Plus he didn’t feel like being teased for going on kiddy rides or anything similar.

People his age should like roller coasters with death warnings on it.

Not that his sweet crush would do that. But what if someone saw them? He didn’t want to embarrass Hirose.

‘ Oh, what if they held hands while going into a haunted house? Or accidentally kiss in the dark and— ‘

“Nakamura Okuto!”

The black haired boy jolted, snapping his head upwards. Right… he was still in class.

It was his final class of the day, at least.

Biology, also. His favorite!

“Yes, Yamagiwa-Sensei?” Nakamura answered, a polite tone was always necessary with such a strict person like Yamagiwa-Sensei.

Her ruler—which was worn out from constant use—cracked onto the black board. “Since you seem be excellent at paying attention, care to explain to me what was I just talking about?”

In complete honesty, Nakamura had the upper hand in this situation. The lesson was about his favorite animal. Octopi. Which he had read majority of biology textbooks about.

From the drawings on the blackboard, he could assume she was speaking about their three hearts.

Nakamura finally found his words, shy voice cutting through the air and hopefully catching the attention of Hirose. “Y-you… were talking about how the Octopi’s three hearts have two different slightly roles…”

Yamagiwa-Sensei's eyes squinted, examining the boy. “Good. At least someone here is paying attention unlike the rest of you—”

She continued her reasonable rant about how nobody was listening to her.

But, back to thinking about Hirose-kun!

Recently, the brown eyed boy started inviting Nakamura to have lunch.

Alone.

Just the two of them. He almost fainted the first time he asked.

Flipping to a clean page of his notebook that wasn't already covered in sketches.

He scribbled a circle, forming it into a head, eye base.

The eyes were the most time consuming part. He didn't like making them uneven, so he kept erasing until they were similar.

Then drawing that cute, wavy hair that covered a little bit of Hirose's eyes, but not all of it.

A decent sketch of Hirose was being drawn.

The bell rang in the background of his own little world.

The hair was so simple, easy to brush out of the way to kiss Hirose and—

Nakamura winced when a certain someones finger tapped his shoulder twice.

He tried to swiftly hide his notebook, but it was far too late.

"Woah... is that me, Nakamura?" Asked the cute boy behind him.

Thankfully, Nakamura's pencil had stopped in its place when it was going to make little hearts. "I-... um, It is."

Hirose smiled, chest pressing on the other boys shoulder. "It looks really good!"

' Oh my God, I'm so lucky, I might need to join the occult club because of this!! '

He retracted that last thought actually.

"Aha... Um, thank you!" Nakamura muttered out, face a bright red.

It was silent for a few minutes. "So... Did you want to walk home together again?" Queried the brown headed boy.

Should he ask him on the walk? Or do it now... Gosh this was so confusing!

He didn't have Hirose's phone number either. So it was now or never!

"Iwaswonderingifwecouldgototheamusementparkthisweekend???!!"

Nakamura had blurted, very incoherent.

Right now, he wanted to melt into a little black puddle.

No, Hirose would start laughing, being reminded of the Home Ec incident.

Hirose cocked his head, confused. "Hm?"

Why was he asking so many questions, tsk.

Nakamura's grip on his pencil tightened. "Do you... want to go to the amusement park this weekend? I totally understand if not!"

A light laugh blessed Nakamura's ears. "Oh, of course! I'd love to go."

One of Hirose's friends, Takeuchi, suddenly appeared from nowhere.

"How are you two lovebirds—I mean, guys—doing?" He teased.

Lovebirds? Is that what they looked like? Well, from an outsiders perspective this looked like a scene right out of a BL manga. Kawamura would be dying over this.

' Hehe, lucky me. '

Hirose had a faint blush as well, which Nakamura pushed to the side as just embarrassment. "We're fine! Oh, by the way, Nakamura mentioned that he wanted to go the amusement park this weekend. Do you want to join?

Crap.

Nakamura had forgotten to mention he just wanted it to be just the two of them. Too late now.

Time to interact with people like any typical boy his age!

"Ye-yeah, I'm... sure you can find a deal or something. Like the ferry... thing, yeah."

Both Hirose and Takeuchi stared at the black haired boy, it was comforting from his crush but it felt like a death stare from the other boy.

Then Takeuchi burst out laughing. "Haha! You ruined that deal for me last time, man." A gentle punch to the shoulder that was instantly ridiculed by Hirose.

"Hey! Leave him alone. You only went on that ferry to have a buncha girls around you." He crossed his arms and closed his eyes. A small pout.

' Cute... '   Thought Nakamura.

Opening one eye, Hirose smirked. "Plus, I'll have you know I had way more fun with Nakamura-kun then I'd have with listening you yap about girls and stuff."

Takeuchi took on mock offense. "Ah, how dare you!" He scoffed, then gave Nakamura another light jab. "No hard feelings man. Do what you need to..."

His words were deafened by a piercing white noise that took its root in Nakamura's mind. Was he becoming friends with Hirose's friends? A shame that he doesn't get to spend 1 on 1 time with the light brown haired boy. But becoming friends with his friends probably gave him more of a chance.

Like in those Boy Love mangas—that he swore he wouldn't use for romantic advice anymore—the main character had a harder time dating the other main character because it was like a nerd and a popular guy.

Nakamura wasn't really a nerd, grades were above average and he kept to himself. What a shame that his life wasn't like the fantasy ones.

Snapping out of the typical day dream. "Um... yeah, its fine. Don't worry about it."

A thumbs up from Takeuchi gave him a little bit of hope that he could date Hirose.

That's another daydream for another day.

Hirose squeezed Nakamura's shoulder. "Right then, the amusement park on Saturday it is." He said cheerfully.

Almost immediately, the remaining people in the classroom—at least the people Nakamura was aware of—turned their heads to face the light brown haired boy.

Like little crows, they crowded up and claimed spots in the trip that was supposed to be just Hirose and Nakamura.

It'd be better than nothing. Maybe it'd end up like Yokohama, and the two boys would split from the group and spend some time together.

But being upset a little bit would probably help.

"I'm gonna go take the trash out... you guys should start cleaning to."

When Nakamura deserted the classroom, Takeuchi slowly turned to Hirose. "Oooh~ Hirose's boyfriend is upset with him."

"Tsk... your such a tease Takeuchi-kun!" Hirose huffed. "I guess you're right though. I wonder what I did..."

The black haired boy pinned himself onto to the wall beside the classroom door, in nobodies line of sight.

' BOYFRIEND?! '

Hirose wasn't denying it either. What does this mean? Are they dating? Is this some cruel joke that both of them are playing on him? God help him...

Okay, maybe he was just daydreaming. Probably.

"I need to take the trash out... ugh."

He hurried to finish the task and do other chores after.

────────────

Hirose and Takeuchi were sitting in a mostly empty classroom, the other students who remained were in groups, chatting too loud to hear any other people outside of their group.

"You really love him, hm?" The childlike teen asked his friend. Who nodded harshly.

"What isn't there to like about Okuto? He's so charming and..." A finger was pressed to his lips. "Nope. Don't wanna hear your list, you lagged my phone yesterday with how much you were talking about that octopus lovers."

Hirose paused, questioning if he should continue or not. "He actually has a pet octop-"

Takeuchi's head snapped towards Hirose. Eye twitching with slight annoyance.

"You little pri—"
